A Christmas Treat out of our busy life!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 20 hours ago

“A fantastic stay from the warm Irish Hospitality Welcome. Everyone we encountered, from the front door team to front desk the outlets. We were made feel like it was our home away from home. The Shelburne always is a magical hotel. Especially at Christmas time. Breakfast was delicious. The staff at breakfast treated us to a lovely Smoothy. Thanks to the Shelburne for a lovely warm Hospitality experience  Nothing was no trouble. It was so professional everyone we encountered. A great place to stay with a treat away from busy life.”

Your Dublin home (away from home). Even better!

Folks says it is the best hotel in Dublin. I completely agree. The staff was impeccable. I can honestly say "the best". Service, amenities, appearance. The staff was unbelievably professional and friendly.

Lovely

A small hiccup to start but in the end a wonderful stay! The staff was helpful and friendly, the 1824 bar was not to be missed and the Saddle Room breakfast was delicious. The beds were extremely comfortable! The common rooms gorgeous. We stayed here in 2010 and 2018 - looking forward to the renovation scheduled.

Stunning Upscale Historic Hotel in the Heart of Dublin

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 6 days ago

The Shelbourne is now part of the Marriott family, and on our stay in Dublin we were lucky enough to be upgraded to a beautiful suite with separate sleeping rooms, living room and a massive bathroom. The hotel is historic, well-updated and maintained, with superb service. You are in the center of Dublin when staying at The Shelbourne; within walking distance to all of the pubs, restaurants, parks, shopping, arts venues, etc. I doubt I would stay here if I had small children simply because of the pricepoint and children's lack of appreciation for such a beautiful and fine hotel. But, if you can afford to stay here as an adult....I would highly recommend it. You'll feel pampered and just a bit posh.

Not the Shelbourne Experience We’ve Come to Expect

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

We were disappointed with our recent stay at The Shelbourne Hotel, Dublin on 21st December. Having stayed here several times in the past, we had high expectations based on the excellent service and attention to detail we’ve previously experienced, but unfortunately this visit fell short. While the hotel itself was extremely busy, it felt as though residents were not prioritised or adequately catered for. It was impossible to get a seat in the bar for lunch or even a casual drink, as it was consistently full of non-residents. As a result, we had to leave the hotel and dine in a nearby pub, which was disappointing. When we choose to stay at a hotel like The Shelbourne, we do so to fully immerse ourselves in the property and enjoy its facilities, not to feel as though we need to leave or retreat to our room. We did have dinner booked that evening in The Saddle Room, which was very nice and exactly what we have come to expect from The Shelbourne. Breakfast the following morning was also excellent and met the high standards we’ve experienced on previous stays. After dinner, we attempted to have drinks in both ground-floor bars, but once again they were too busy to accommodate us. We eventually managed to get a seat in the residents’ bar upstairs and were served, which we appreciated, but it would have been far more enjoyable to have access to the full range of hotel facilities as paying guests. There were also some issues that we wouldn’t typically associate with The Shelbourne. Throughout our stay, dirty glasses and rubbish were left on sideboards in the hallway on our floor and were not removed. In addition, our room is beginning to feel a little tired, with noticeable wear and tear on some of the furniture, as well as areas that had not been cleaned to the standard we would expect. Overall, this stay did not reflect the level of service and attention to detail we have experienced at The Shelbourne in the past, which was disappointing given our loyalty to the hotel.
