I recently had to cancel a suite booking at The Westbury and was reminded why this hotel is the benchmark for five-star hospitality. As an executive assistant, I had flagged to reservations that I was still awaiting final approval from my guest before committing to a non-refundable rate. Unfortunately, a miscommunication led to the booking being treated as fully confirmed, which carried a €1,800 cancellation fee. My sincere gratitude goes to Sarah, Sophia, and Pamela in Reservations. They listened carefully, retraced our booking history, and—without a hint of friction—resolved the misunderstanding in a way that put guest care first. Throughout, their approach was consistently prompt, courteous, and genuinely empathetic, exemplifying The Westbury’s commitment to thoughtful, service-led hospitality. Despite this cancellation we do hope that we can visit the Westbury hotel on another occasion soon!

I come to Ireland once a year and usually stay at the Westbury for a couple of nights. It’s in a great location and has valet parking and good food. But after my most recent visit I would not stay there again. I booked a King room through Amex Platinum and asked for a rollaway bed as a king sized bed isn’t big enough for two adults and two kids. No one notified me that the room was too small for a rollaway bed so I didn’t know until we walked into our room. It took multiple calls and visits to reception, eating up precious vacation hours and straining the patience of exhausted parents and kids, to find out the hotel would do absolutely nothing to help. They offered an adjoining room for zero discount (so it would cost me double) or a suite that was also double the price. If they had reduced it by even €50 as a sign of goodwill I would have paid it but they stubbornly refused to be of any help. Honestly with Amex platinum I’m entitled to a free upgrade anyway which they wouldn’t honor. So we had a horrific nights sleep with 4 people in one bed, all waking up grumpy and exhausted and extremely eager to check out. We walked down the halls of the hotel with our luggage, noticing an extremely strong smell of mildew which the staff were covering with perfume. Awful. There are so many better hotels of the same standard and pricing - the Conrad is way better in terms of service, size of the rooms and general attitude of the staff.

Its a very well located hotel with generally lovely staff and good breakfasts. The concierges were super helpful in helping us find good meals too! On the other hand, its a rather old feeling facility that doesn't feel fully clean, like there were dirty trays in the hallway, old drab carpet in rooms, the AC was noisy and not fully up to modern times and the bathrooms are old and not that functional. It had that feel of a hotel that used to be grand but feels a little run down now.

We didn’t stay overnight just popped in for a cheeky glass of wine. Beautiful place with excellent staff and a very good selection of wines by the glass. We ended up staying for dinner. Lovely food and atmosphere well worth a visit. We had mussels and a beautiful seafood salad. We left very satisfied.

We celebrated my birthday with afternoon tea last week and once again, had a wonderful experience from start to end!Huge thanks to Alvaro for the most amazing service. Im 8 months pregnant and the care and attention he showed was second to none. I truly felt like we were the only people in the hotel although i noted Alvaro was also giving 5* star service to other tables around us at the same time.As I've said on previous reviews, i have been coming to the Westbury for afternoon tea for many years and the service, ambience and overall experience is always consistently high however I really felt Alvaro went above and beyond. He clearly loves what he does and it made all the difference.
