The best afternoon tea

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 day ago

Afternoon tea at the The Gallery of the Westbury was so relaxing and food was great esp with the manager Kim who has been so pleasant the whole time and to Richie and the rest of the staff were all so nice. We would love to go back the soonest! My friend's 50th was the best!

Stay Away Until Construction Is Finished

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 day ago

We arrived in Dublin after a family wedding along the Antrim coast and before our return to Canada. The hotel caught my daughter’s eye because it was part of the Doyle Collection and our last name is Doyle. We had already stayed at Ashford Castle and The Merchant in Belfast and wanted our last few days to be just as memorable. The location was perfect and the hotel itself was beautiful but the construction noise was annoying and lasted from 7:30 in the morning until 6 pm. You could hear them scrapping and plastering as though they were in the next room. Relaxing mornings or recharge naps were not possible. My husband complained and was offered a complimentary dinner in the restaurant. When you pay what we paid to stay there, that was an insult. The staff said we should have been informed by our travel agent as they had let all third party agents know. Well, that didn’t happen because our agent is a close family friend and I believe her when she said she heard nothing. She was on vacation at the same time and made countless calls on our behalf to try and rectify the situation. We knew the noise wasn’t going to be eliminated but we wanted a reduction in the rate we paid. We were finally offered half off which we accepted. It seemed as though the squeaky wheel got the oil as another couple in the elevator on the way down to breakfast said they were offered half off the rooms as well. Then why were we just offered a meal. We had booked three rooms for two nights. There was no consistency in their approach. At breakfast on our final morning before departing we were embarrassed and told we didn’t have complimentary breakfast and would have to pay. This was communicated to us in front of other guests. Luckily I had the confirmation on my phone which confirmed the complimentary breakfast. It was just one more thing. As I checked out and was returning the key, the desk staff said the manager wants to talk to you. There was a note on our file. She went to get her while I stood for 10 minutes. My husband was already outside with the car service and I was just about to leave when she arrived. She said she just wanted to talk to me about the construction and that I should have been informed by my agent as they were all told. Again they took no responsibility and I didn’t wan to hear it or argue with her. No apology just that she hoped we would return again. Our stay was a disappointment. There was nothing on their website to give us the heads up about the construction and as I said, nothing came to our agent. We knew what 5 star service was after staying 4 nights at Ashford Castle and this was not in any way comparable. The management staff need to understand how to take responsibility and to not divert the issue back to the customer.

5 star Hotel Wheelchair Accessible Room

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

We did a trip around Ireland and decided to splurge on our last night to stay at the Westbury. It was so worth it! The room was huge, the location was great and the service impeccable. My husband is a wheelchair user. Our wheelchair accessible room was fabulous. The bed was a great height. If someone needs a Hoyer lift, it should fit under the bed. If you want to treat yourself, I highly recommend the Westbury.

Tatty towels

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 weeks ago

There was so much good here. The staff were amazing. It was spotlessly clean . The bed was the comfiest ever. The food I did have was lovely. The atmosphere was wonderful. However, much to my surprise the bathroom towels were falling apart and shredded. If I owned those myself they’d be in the bin! The coffee machine had a used coffee pod in when we arrived . I also had stated I was coeliac and asked beforehand if there were separate friers , I was told there was but this wasn’t the case. Like I said though the food that I did have was limited but good.
