Hotel Excelsior Dubrovnik was absolutely beautiful and truly made our time in Croatia so special. The location couldn’t be better—just a short walk to Old Town, yet it feels peaceful and tucked away with the most incredible views of the Adriatic. The food was fantastic, and what really stood out to us was the people. Everyone we encountered was genuinely kind, welcoming, and gracious, which can make all the difference when you’re traveling. Between the stunning setting, amazing location, delicious food, and wonderful hospitality, we had such a memorable stay. Dubrovnik completely stole our hearts, and Hotel Excelsior was a big part of that. We will absolutely be back!

Beautiful hotel, in a perfect location, walking distance to the old town (10 minutes). Perfect distance from the hustle and bustle but close enough of a walk to all the resto, boutique and landmarks. The outdoor area is perfect for sun bathing and cooling off in the water. We had dinner at their restaurant Prora, the view, service and food were excellent. All the staff were attentive, helpful and kind. I highly recommend this hotel.

This year marked 10 years since my wife and I first started returning to Hotel Excelsior, and once again, we had a wonderful stay. This time, we spent seven days at the hotel. We particularly enjoy staying in the Tower rooms overlooking the sea. The rooms are modern, the mattresses are extremely comfortable, and the housekeeping team ensures that everything remains spotless, clean, and tidy throughout the stay. The hotel’s location is also exceptional—directly by the sea and only around a ten-minute walk from Dubrovnik’s Old Town. What truly makes Hotel Excelsior special, however, is its Croatian staff. Their warmth, friendliness, and personal attention make every stay an unforgettable experience. Katija, the Reservations Manager, has always been exceptionally kind, welcoming, and helpful throughout the many years we have been visiting. At the front desk, Marko and Mario made the check-in process smooth and efficient, while the doormen took excellent care of our luggage and were always ready to assist. As always, a particular highlight of our stay was Chef Petar Obad***. He genuinely cares about his guests and checked in with us every day to ask what we had enjoyed and what we might like to try. Knowing how much we love authentic Croatian cuisine, he prepared several local speciality dishes for us that were not always available on the regular menu. This personal attention made our every day lunches at the Prora Beach Restaurant especially memorable. The restaurant has a beautiful seaside location and is the perfect place to enjoy a relaxed lunch. After ten years of returning to Hotel Excelsior, we continue to appreciate its outstanding location, comfortable rooms, beautiful sea views and, most importantly, the exceptional people who make every visit feel personal and special. We look forward to returning again next year. If you are a foodie like me, I would also recommend reserving Dubrovnik’s restaurants well in advance, as the best ones fill up quickly. The concierge team is extremely helpful and makes the entire reservation process easy and efficient.

We chose Hotel Excelsior for our 20th wedding anniversary and were looking for a luxury hotel within walking distance of Dubrovnik's Old Town. Before booking, I contacted the hotel with a few questions about the rooms, and the communication was excellent. The team replied promptly and were very helpful, which gave us confidence in booking a Deluxe Sea View Room with Balcony. On arrival, our first impression wasn't quite what we expected. The reception area was full of suitcases, with luggage lining the entrance and lobby. It made the space feel more like a luggage storage area than the elegant luxury lobby we had anticipated. However, the reception staff were warm, welcoming and very helpful throughout our stay. As we had arrived on an early flight, our room wasn't quite ready, which was understandable. We decided to enjoy lunch and drinks on the terrace while we waited, and this immediately reminded us why we had chosen the hotel. The views across the Adriatic towards Dubrovnik's iconic city walls are absolutely breathtaking and provide a wonderful setting to relax. When we were shown to our room, we were delighted. The room was modern, immaculately clean and beautifully presented. It had a lovely balcony with a small table and two chairs, but it was the view that truly stole the show. Waking up each morning and enjoying a coffee while overlooking Dubrovnik's city walls was an unforgettable experience and undoubtedly the highlight of our stay. To make our stay even more memorable, the hotel recognised our 20th wedding anniversary with a complimentary bottle of champagne and a selection of delicious local sweet treats waiting in our room. It was a thoughtful gesture that made us feel genuinely valued and helped make the occasion even more special. Breakfast was another standout feature. Every morning we enjoyed breakfast overlooking the Adriatic Sea and Dubrovnik's magnificent city walls – a wonderful way to start the day. The buffet offered an extensive selection of hot and cold dishes, fresh fruit, pastries and local specialities, while an à la carte menu was also included as part of our bed and breakfast package, giving plenty of choice. The breakfast team were consistently friendly, professional and attentive, with Barbara deserving a special mention. She genuinely cared about the guests she was looking after and always wanted to ensure everyone had everything they needed. One morning, a small amount of coffee spilled onto my saucer as it was being served. I assured her it really didn't matter and that a napkin would be absolutely fine, but she insisted on bringing me a fresh coffee instead. It was a small gesture, but one that perfectly demonstrated her attention to detail and pride in delivering exceptional service. Those little touches are what elevate a good hotel into a memorable one. Throughout the rest of our stay, we never saw the lobby as busy with luggage as it had been when we first arrived, so it seems we were simply unfortunate with our timing. We also spent time relaxing by the sea, where the sunbed attendants managed the area extremely well. They were always happy to help us find loungers whenever we needed them, and the pool and beach service was quick, efficient and offered a great selection of food and drinks. Once again, the spectacular views across the Adriatic and towards Dubrovnik's Old Town made it a wonderful place to spend the day. Another lovely touch was the evening turndown service. Returning to our room each night to find everything prepared for the evening, along with a delicious chocolate treat left on the bedside table, quickly became something we looked forward to each day. It was a simple but thoughtful detail that added to the overall feeling of luxury. Overall, Hotel Excelsior provided the perfect setting for our 20th wedding anniversary. Its location is second to none, with the Old Town just a short walk away, the views are simply outstanding, and the service from the staff made our stay feel truly special. We would happily recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a luxurious stay in Dubrovnik.
