Reviews for Hotel Excelsior Dubrovnik

Incredible stay at Hotel Excelsior

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 days ago

The stay at Hotel Excelsior was incredible. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming. The rooms were clean and refreshed continuously. The view from the hotel was spectacular especially during the sunsets! Each restaurant , including the room service were incredible with a nice choice of local Mediterranean cuisine to some more familiar choices. The hotel is located in such an ideal location, quiet location, with a beautiful 10 minute walk to the town center.

Peaceful resort atmosphere directly on the water

The views of Old Town Dubrovnik from our suite were mesmerizing! Private swimming access to the sea was blissful. Staff was very prompt and helpful. The indoor pool area offered a break from the sun with multiple pools and plentiful loungers for a rest. Dinner at Prora was amazing. Our table had a world-class view and service to match. Very friendly waitstaff and delicious food. Highly recommend. Daily breakfast was also top quality.

Great Experience

We loved our stay at Hotel Excelsior! The views are breathtaking and the location is perfect, just a quick walk to the old town. The staff are exceptionally well trained - always willing to help, but in a muted, comfortable way, in keeping with the elegance of the hotel. Our room was lovely and housekeeping was on top of every detail. Swimming in the Adriatic was a highlight, and just steps from our room.

Wonderful

This was such a lovely hotel and first introduction to Croatia. Service was excellent at the front desk. They stored our luggage until our rooms were ready at 2. The hotel is walkable to all the Dubrovnik attractions. There is a long stone patio at the sea, where they set up sun beds and umbrellas for us. We ordered food from the chairs and it was tasty and reasonably priced. We could jump in the sea from ladders to the patio. It felt wonderful and was easy to float. Breakfast was typical European buffet with other entrees we could order. It lasted until 11 which was really nice. And some housekeeping notes if helpful: my daughter and I requested separate beds so it was 2 twin beds vs a king, which was much better sleep. There was one USB outlet as well as the European outlets. The hair dryer was plenty powerful.

Great location and incredible views!

The location and views can’t be beat if you are looking to stay in walking distance of the old city and still want a resort-like feel (caveat that the Villa Argentina will be similar once the renovations are completed). The staff are helpful and friendly (Ivana was notably helpful), and the food was surprisingly good and comparably priced to the nice restaurants in the old city. I had a fairly basic classic double room but it looked new and clean, had a reasonable amount of space although for two people I think you would want to upgrade to a larger room, and the bed (king) was very comfortable. The only thing to note is returning from the old city there is an uphill walk if you have mobility limitations. It’s a one way so if you need to take a taxi back you literally have to make a big out of the way circle. Other than that, it was pretty much ideal.
