Reviews for 21c Museum Hotel Durham

Needs a bit of “love"

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 6 days ago

I rarely write a “negative” review but having stayed at the 21c Museum in Oklahoma and loving it this was a disappointment. Aside from being very much in need of a bit of “love” [basic maintenance] there was a lot to be desired in terms of what I would expect from a hotel in this price range.

Amazing suite experience

The 21c suite here is a special spot. Loved sitting outside on the gorgeous patio. The staff was also helpful with the stay.

Nice hotel for our Wedding Guests

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

21C Museum Hotel was chosen as one of the hotels for our daughter's wedding guests. Emily was wonderful to work with for our block of rooms. All of the staff were friendly. There was an unexpected issue with the elevator on Friday when our guests were checking in but the staff handled it as best as they could so that was appreciated. They were very sweet and accommodating especially to the brides to be. We found a nice spot within the museum for the brides' first look. The valet staff was especially friendly. I also want to thank Amy for helping us during our departure!

21c is the best bargain for a stay in Durham

Great rooms, modern and comfortable (a bit small, but not crowded). Very nice amenities, good towels. VERY good staff, friendly, welcoming, and professional. We were surprised with very nice extras as returning (2nd visit) guests. This place punches above it weight at a very fair price and wonderful location..

Hotel is in need of some love.

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

When we valet parked we had the nicest gentleman help us and he was very friendly so we were excited…..then went to the 2nd Floor to check in and were told at 4:15 that our room wasn’t ready. We asked when did he think it would be ready, he replied I don’t know. That was it I don’t know. Well ask someone who does know was my thought. He took our phone number and said we would call us. 2 other couples were told the same thing. As we sat in the lobby we noticed that they were called up after about 20 minutes to get their room. Went back up him and asked if our room was ready and he still looked dumbfounded. We dealt with the lady beside him and she checked us right in? It was all very puzzling and seems the front desk staff needed further training. And yes some of the light switches didn’t work, elevators were confusing. We love old buildings and they have done a great job ascetically, but definitely seemed run down as far as upkeep was concerned. I love boutique hotels, just not this one.
