About the Hotel

When Breidenbacher Hof, a Capella hotel opened at the turn of the 19th Century, it was a bona fide royal hotel that counted Russian Czar Alexander II among its early guests. World War II demolished the original structure, but it was rebuilt – and rebuilt again in 2006 – with equal grandeur. Tastefully modern rooms outfitted in shades of gold match the hotel’s refined service. Briedenbacher Hof is earning a name for itself as a medical destination spa – guests can access a private clinic where cardiologist Dietrich Baumgart practices preventative medicine, and a network of German’s leading cosmetic and plastic surgeons offer services with utmost discretion.

One of the best city hotels in the world!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 weeks ago

Wow where to start? We went with 8 family members to celebrate my mother’s birthday. It was our first time in the hotel. From start till end was excellent: superb service, amazing breakfast and a very lively and nice bar in the evening with live music. The rooms are stunning and very well equipped, comfortable and high tech ( especially for a historical city hotel very modern). Perhaps the only thing missing was an outdoor area to sit and enjoy a drink. I personally found the restaurant in the evening too expensive missing the right price/quality balance. Despite this we will for sure return one day and can only recommend this hotel!

Unexpectedly Delightful

My first time in Dusseldorf and I booked this hotel hoping it was up to standard. It certainly was and more. Very spacious rooms, with a lovely bath and separate shower. First class service in all aspects of my stay. Great breakfast. Nice modern gym (perhaps a little small) and the location is unbeatable, near a verdant park (good for a run) and all the best shopping. I loved the guests only living room area too. Only minute hiccup was the laundry bag was not replaced when the room was made up, but very very few hotels seem capable of doing this, even the world’s best! Anyway, I will certainly stay here again and it contributed significantly to a wonderful visit.

Disappointing and not up to previous standards

The hotel staff are well trained and accommodating. The rooms are very well proportioned but starting to show their age. Toiletries and amenities in the bathroom are not of the quality previously available. Perhaps I was unlucky but I encountered a couple with a yappy, noisy dog in both the main floor lounge (during the afternoon) and 1st floor dining area outside the bar when I was attempting to have a peaceful dinner. The dog was poorly behaved (barking and soiling the carpet), the couple were quite uncouth (the more they drank the worse it got). Hotel staff did not even attempt to manage this properly on either occasion. Any reputable hotel that allows pets must ensure both the pets and their owners are well behaved. Also at dinner, I was served by a rotating cast of 5 people which was off putting and not well handled. The service was far too long Finally, the noise external to the hotel at night was unusually load. While the hotel obviously has limited control of this, it should install better soundproofing on the windows. I have stayed at this hotel happily before but will think carefully about a repeat visit as my stay was disappointing.

A beautiful hotel in a beautiful city

Wow, what a great hotel in a wonderful city. My wife and I spent two nights in the hotel and we wished we could have stayed much longer. The whole hotel was perfectly maintained and designed and the staff was extremely friendly and helpful. We had booked the Dutchy Suite and the room did not disappoint, it was very large, with a full living room, work area, large bedroom and very large bath with a jetted bath. the location in ideal for access to the main attractions and shopping district. We felt very well taken care of and would recommend the hotel very highly. You will not be disappointed if you stay here!
