Listed on the National Register of Historic Place, the Rosario Resort & Spa is a secluded, civilized wilderness retreat in the heart of the San Juan Islands. This member of RockResorts is spread across 8 waterfront acres on Orcas Island, a leisurely hour and a half ferry ride north of Seattle. Among its 9 buildings is the property's original 1909 mansion, featuring concerts in the Moran Music Room on a magnificent 1,972-pipe Aeolian organ. As you stroll the grounds to your guestroom or suite, you may encounter a resident deer, and when you arrive, you can unwind while gazing over tranquil bay or forest views.

We stayed in the Roundhouse Suite. The room was clean, the bed was a spacious king and was adequately comfortable. The feature I primarily look for in a place to stay is the area to sit and enjoy the outdoors and this room cannot be topped for that. You are right on the bay with a gorgeous view. We even watched 2 otters one afternoon. The main mansion is apparently being renovated so was closed but the grounds were pleasant to walk around. The location was very convenient to Moran State Park and Eastsound. I personally did not enjoy the absence of onsite staff but was able to negotiate the text communication adequately. We did have a slow drainage issue in the shower right before checkout and notified the staff through the text system. If you are renting this room I recommend asking if the plumbing issue has been resolved. I would stay here again but might ask about the plumbing situation.

Just left Rosario Resort orcas island . REVIEWS were not great. We give our room a top rating. It was perfect. Starbucks coffee maker, fright, microwave, robes, great bed, great view, lovely grounds. Check in was great, done remotely but very smooth

We have been coming to Rosario Village since the late 1980's. The many times we stayed at Rosario were such amazing stays. The buildings were old, but in working order and seem to add to the charm. The Marina restaurant had such good food as did the restaurant in the Mansion. On this visit reservations were made over the phone and then all other communication was through text message (with phone service at the mansion is very reliable)! There was a TV, but no remote or instructions on how to use the TV. We called the customer service phone number and basically no one really cared that the TV did not work. I was recovering from surgery and thought I could rest for a while by watching TV. Never happened over our whole stay at Rosario Village. Thought we might go to the Marina restaurant, but they had nothing that sounded good there (do not plan on eating there). Basically the whole rosario village seemed like a ghost town. So sad as it was our favorite place to stay on Orcas Island.

I agree with reviews concerning the rundown mansion and missing staff. Check-in was by remote. We were disappointed by the view from the hillside room. It wasn’t as explained during a conversation when booking directly. BUT the staff (by phone) agreed to change our room and moved us to a bayside room. It was nice! We had a nice view and it was obvious that the room was newly renovated. | The room was nicely decorated, the beds were comfortable and the view was lovely. We had a water view through the wooded grounds and could hear the water lapping when our door was open. There were deer below our balcony in the morning and we watched sea otters make their way to the water. With the mansion and its pool closed, there wasn’t much to offer on the property - so don’t think of it as a resort. But if you want some of the best views and spacious grounds to stroll, book a bayside room - specifying newly renovated - and you shouldn’t be disappointed. Just don’t expect much more at this time.

We had always wanted to stay at Rosario after hearing about it for so many years. We booked the Deluxe King Bayside Room. We understood the Mansion was closed due to renovations, but it doesn't appear renovations are being done at all. It was a surreal experience to be there, due to the run down appearance of the entire campus and what seemed to be a skeleton crew running the marina "store" of leftover souvenirs from the past and "restaurant" with a very limited menu and service. While the view from our room was amazing, our room was a huge disappointment for the price point. The room was bare with no decor whatsoever, items in the room are worn, one curtain was broken, the bed was uncomfortable, the bed's dust ruffle was old and wrinkled, the freezer was full of defrosting ice so it was unusable, the tile in the bathroom appeared dirty (so I wore my sandals the whole time), etc. I think the resort should charge half price due to the condition of the campus and the fact the mansion and fine dining is closed. Contactless check-in, with instant messaging communication since there is no cell service. Disappointing experience at Rosario. Loved Orcas Island.
