Important - The Waldorf Astoria Edinburgh – The Caledonian has recently been renamed to The Caledonian Edinburgh, Curio Collection by Hilton. The Caledonian Edinburgh is currently undergoing renovation expected to be completed early 2025. The transformation of the hotel is already well underway and is taking place over a phased approach to ensure we can continue to operate as business as usual.
The Caledonian Edinburgh is one of Edinburgh's most significant and recognizable landmarks. Standing proudly at the west end of Princes Street, the heart of the capital, its reputation for style and excellence has attracted generations of locals, international visitors and notable personalities for over one hundred years. Built in 1903 and formerly part of the grand Caledonian Railway, the hotel is full of memories, including Peacock Alley which represents the historic heart, once the station concourse and ticket office. Surround yourself with heritage and over 100 years of hospitality, and become part of our story.

We just checked into the most depressing room we’ve ever stayed in with a really moldy smell - room 151. We’re trying to move.

This is a historic hotel with a delightful history and old world charm and superb staff. They perform their duties with a touch of class that is hard to come by these days. From the minute we arrived, the concierges were always available and provided assistance without my having to explicitly ask. They just appear at the right moments, render a service and subtly depart. This included fetching luggage to the room, hailing taxis, and loading our luggage for departure. This service was quite simply the highlight of our stay. They blend this classic hospitality with modern tech. Their pre-checkin text message (SMS) includes access to an assistant who can answer questions. In our case they provided helpful information on how to park and return rental cars. It is not your generic hotel-in-a-box. The bar and restaurant are thoroughly modern, but retain the Victorian aesthetic of the original building. The staff at the restaurant were helpful and attentive, although they didn't possess the elegance and excellence of the front desk and concierges. We only ate the buffet breakfast, so I cannot comment about the quality of food. The rooms felt palatial, with their large windows and stunning 15-foot ceiling. The beds and pillows were comfortable, and the air conditioning worked fabulously, giving us multiple good nights of sleep. Some aspects of the room reveal their age (120+ years), but I found that charming. The bathtub felt a little cramped to take a shower, but that's about the only thing I can fault. I enjoyed taking the grand staircase up to our fourth floor room. Sunlight streams in through stained glass reclaimed from the decommissioned Victorian railway station below. The many drawings hanging on the hallway walls are beautiful. Overall, this hotel was a highlight of our trip to Edinburgh.

I visited the Caledonian Spa in Edinburgh with a friend for a relaxing day, and we had such a great experience. The spa is very clean, well-organised, and fully stocked with everything you need. The pool is a good size, and the jacuzzi was a perfect spot to unwind. A special mention to Denise, the spa massage therapist—she was so kind, professional, and clearly very experienced. Her massage was one of the best I’ve had! Would definitely recommend the Caledonian Spa if you’re looking for a peaceful and refreshing break in the city.

I recently stayed at the Caledonian hotel, and it was an unforgettable experience. The hotel, housed in a stunning former Victorian railway station, combines historic charm with modern luxury, and its location on Princes Street offers breathtaking views of Edinburgh Castle. My room was spacious, comfortable, and impeccably clean, with a cozy bed and lovely touches like plush robes and luxury toiletries. The dining experiences were amazing, especially at Dean Banks at The Pompadour, where the creative, locally sourced dishes were simply outstanding. Peacock Alley provided a relaxed atmosphere for coffee or afternoon tea, and the service throughout the hotel was impeccable. The hotel is also incredibly accessible, with lifts and friendly, attentive staff always ready to assist. Whether you’re in Edinburgh for sightseeing or a special occasion, The Caledonian offers a perfect mix of elegance, comfort, and convenience. I’ll definitely be back next time I’m in the city!

I have been to the restaurant and the spa at this hotel and have had a wonderful experience at both! The food at the restaurant was well cooked and flavourful. I also had a beautiful cocktail which was tasty! I also had a wonderful experience at the spa. The facilities are clean and the staff are lovely. Special mention to the receptionist Jessica who helped me at the spa and recommended The Court to me :)
