Nira Caledonia

Tiny room, broken tiles in bathroom floor, broken hair dryer, laundry wasn’t sent to be cleaned so it was returned dirty, staff didn’t answer house phone. Most expensive hotel of the eight we stayed yet the most disappointing. Staff was hospitable though.

Great place. Super friendly! The breakfast was fit for a Royal!!! Amazing. But no lifts, so be stair master ready!

Great service in reception from Kier and Demi! Demi was very helpful in a unique situation: I thought I needed a prescription and she helped us look into the best option. Fortunately, I didn’t need the prescription after all, but Demi’s assistance in a stressful moment was very reassuring.

The Nira Calidonia is a lovely old hotel with a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The staff are extremely friendly and happy to help and take a real interest in your stay. There are no lifts but the staff are happy to help with your luggage. My room was a wee single which was ideal for just me. It was cleaned every day, with fresh towels and bedding and tea, coffee etc replenished. It is about a 25 minute walk from the old town but it was a fairly easy walk with lots to see on the way. There are buses and taxis if you are not a good walker. The location was pretty quiet, which was nice but with shops, pubs within a 4 minute walk. Or have a meal in the hotel restaurant. Well worth staying here, highly recommended.
