Afternoon tea was disappointing

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

Our afternoon was very disappointing. Whilst the hotel is beautiful, and room we ate in was lovely, the food was nice but just not a lot of it. We got 4 small finger sandwiches and a very small roll, 1 single croquette which was the size of a cocktail sausage, 2 scones and 5 small cakes. No savouries or cream cakes.

A Truly Special Wedding Day at Norton House Hotel 🤍

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

We got married at Norton House Hotel in August, and from the very beginning of our wedding celebrations through to the end of our stay, we genuinely couldn’t have asked for a better experience. The whole team went above and beyond to make our wedding as special and stress-free as possible. What stood out most was the level of care and attention from every member of staff. At every touchpoint, the team seemed to know that we were getting married, and we were consistently made to feel special, welcomed and looked after. The lead-up to the wedding: In the run-up to the wedding, our main coordinator, Jen, was fantastic. She was incredibly efficient, friendly and approachable, and gave us complete confidence that everything was in hand. She made the planning process feel much more straightforward and was always so helpful whenever we had a question or request. We also had a great meal tasting which Michael assisted with. We also had a fantastic meal at the hotel on the evening before the wedding with more than 20 of our wedding guests. The food was excellent, everything ran incredibly smoothly, and having a private area for drinks afterwards was the perfect way to start the wedding celebrations. A special mention for David We have to give a very special mention to David, the Master of Ceremonies, who deserves a huge amount of recognition. When we first met David on the Wednesday before the wedding, we were feeling quite stressed, but he immediately put us at ease. From that moment onwards, he went above and beyond to make sure everything was taken care of. David looked after all the little details and “bits and bobs” we had brought with us — from the crisp stands and glow sticks to the flip flops and everything in between. He made sure everything was exactly where it needed to be and helped direct our guests throughout the day. This meant we could simply enjoy our wedding without having to worry about all the little things happening behind the scenes. He also MC’d the wedding itself and was absolutely brilliant. His banter with our guests was spot on, and he brought such a warm, fun energy to the day. He played a huge part in making the whole experience feel relaxed and enjoyable, and we genuinely cannot thank him enough. We really hope he receives the recognition he deserves. The wedding day The wedding day itself ran incredibly smoothly, and we were so impressed with how everything was handled. The Usher Suite, where we got married, was a beautiful and spacious setting for our ceremony, while the grounds at Norton House provided a lovely backdrop throughout the day. One of the biggest standouts was undoubtedly the food. Everything was delicious and served piping hot, and our guests were very complimentary about it. The team also did a fantastic job accommodating the different drink choices for our top table while making sure the rest of our guests were well looked after with wine. Throughout the hotel, everything was extremely well maintained and clean — right down to the public toilets — which really added to the overall experience. Our rooms The bridal suite, Ratho, was fantastic. It was extremely spacious and the perfect place to get ready in the morning. We would highly recommend it for anyone having their hair and makeup done, particularly if you have a larger bridal party. We stayed in the Edinburgh Suite on our wedding night, and it was such a lovely touch to return to the room to find a bottle of fizz, a “Just Married” sign and some of our wedding cake waiting for us. Food and spa The food throughout our stay was fantastic, and our guests commented on how good it was too. Breakfast and the à la carte dinner were both great. There was a great variety throughout our stay, from burgers to duck, and everything we had was excellent. We also had a great experience at the spa. There was a mix-up with our booking, but the team handled it brilliantly, resolved the issue quickly and even provided us with complimentary treatments. It was a lovely example of how the team went above and beyond to make sure we were looked after. Overall What really made our experience at Norton House so special was the people. Every member of staff we encountered was friendly, helpful and genuinely invested in making our wedding weekend as enjoyable as possible. From Jen in the planning stages, to David making sure everything ran perfectly on the day, to the teams looking after us in the hotel, restaurant and spa, we felt incredibly well cared for throughout our entire stay. Thank you to everyone at Norton House for helping make our wedding weekend so memorable. 🤍

Spa Break Perfection

Return visit to the Spa with my daughter, so in law and my 10 month old grand daughter. Such a lovely day together. My daughter and I had the Spa experience, we all had lunch and the my daughter and I had a treatment. Nothing was too much for all the staff. They were welcoming, attentive and kind. My grand daughter was welcome to join my daughter and I in the pool until 11am which was delightful. The pool area was clean and tidy. The pool itself was a wee bit on the cool side, that’s just for me though. The pool and all Spa area was quiet. Light lunch was delicious. Varied menu and reasonably priced. Our treatments ended a perfect day. The staff were wonderful.
