Reviews for Norton House Hotel & Spa Edinburgh

Super Close to EDI but feels like you're miles away

We staying two nights as a place to acclimate to the time change. What a lovely place! The moment we arrived, David came out to fetch our bags and greeted us warmly. This place is spotless, and the food is delicious! Only 1.5 miles from the Edinburgh airport (nice after long flights), but feels miles away as it sits on 53 acres! The spa was wonderful, the service impeccable, and overall a lovely place away from the chaos.

Relaxing stay within a trams ride away from the City

Just returned from a few days away at Norton House Hotel, had a wonderful stay thank you to all the team. The air con in the room was definitely a bonus with the hit weather also the balcony helped keep the room at a nice temperature during the night so we could sleep well. The shuttle service to the tram stop at Ingliston park and ride was a bonus however do take a taxi number with you if you are returning late as there are no taxis based there although the busiest stop before the airport and if arriving late back like we did as went to two shows in Edinburgh, we called the taxi when we got to the Park and Ride, but had to wait 30 minutes, so not the hotels issue but just to note. Breakfast was well stocked with all your favourites and some added treats, and we had bar food and room service whilst there..there were two weddings on whilst we were there but you wouldn't have really noticed and it certainly didn't affect the quality of the hotels service.. can't wait to return again soon..great place to stay outside of the busy city and still a relaxing stay, thank you again Norton House

High end hotel off the beaten path with beautiful grounds

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 weeks ago

Hotel is very nice and has a lot of wedding venue options here. The grounds are beautiful, and it has a nice walking trail. It is tucked away in an area you would not expect it to be in. This makes the hotel off the beaten path, and you would need to use a taxi service to go into town. The hotel staff were nice, and the bar tender was great. We got to experience a dinner with entertainment and Scottish food. The drinks and menu were good; the entertainment was fun and interactive. The room was clean and comfortable, and the bar and restaurant area were very nice, just a little pricey. (you're a captive audience). Overall, I would rate this hotel as Luxury.

Great facility but a distance from Edinburgh City Centre.

Norton House is a lovely facility. My room was quite spacious with a view out to the grounds. The staff was very friendly and helpful. As I was part of a coach tour, it was entertaining to see almost all staff, including the bartender and restraunt staff, coming outside to quickly offload our luggage and deliver the cases to our rooms. The food at the group dinner was good, but not great. On the other hand, most of us thought the hot buffet and continental breakfast at Norton House was the best of our trip. The hotel also has a large (25 meter) indoor pool, hot tub and sauna. Now the negative. From Norton House into City Centre Edinburgh is at least a 35-minute drive. If you are going into the city for only one day, that is likely not a big deal. But if want to be in Old or New Town in Edinburgh for several days, you'll probably want to stay closer. On the other hand, Norton House is not far from the Edinburgh Airport, so it's a great location if you're staying only a day or two and just passing through. But keep in mind that, other than the hotel restaurant, your dining options are limited, and you'll need a taxi to get anywhere away from the hotel grounds.

From the moment we arrived we felt very warmly welcomed by the staff. The porter, called Dave, what a gem of a guy he is. His enthusiasm in helping the guests like us with backbreaking weight of luggage is remarkable, giving us the impression that he love his job. The standard room, although not spacious is nicely presented, cleaned to very high standard. We met Pearl, the housekeeping staff. Very sweet lady; she provided us details in getting to Glasgow. (Bus 900, 20 minutes walk from hotel’s front door £10 day return, 40 minutes comfortable journey). Nothing is too much trouble for Pearl, she even walked us to the back of the hotel to show us the way to the short cut to the bus stop. We stayed 3 nights so we had the opportunity to try breakfasts menu on offer. Very good selection. Natalie, one of the breakfast staff is very friendly and attentive. Always quick to replenish our hot drinks and clearing away the used glasses and crockery, she took interest in knowing how are we enjoying our break. Although we stayed 4 days in total we only managed to use the Spa facility just once because we were busy exploring Edinburgh. The spa and gym are in a separate building. Huge reception rooms, locker rooms, thick and fluffy towels, lounge with comfortable sofas, books, magazines, coffee and drinks bar. The stream room, sauna, jacuzzi and pool are modern. All very clean. Next time we visit (hopefully in December to visit the Christmas market) we’ll try to make time to enjoy and relax in there. The car park is massive as well as the very well cared for grounds. The gardener must be proud for all the hardwork they do in keeping the huge ground in impressive condition. If you’re not into city exploration and spa treatment, Norton Hall has extensive forest grounds for walking enthusiasts. To simply put it, Norton Hall Hotel is exemplary in every aspect. I look forward to our next visit.
