No acknowledgment of it being a special occasion/long wait for breakfast service

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 days ago

On arrival we were greeted by Zoltan who was infact the person I had booked our stay through. He was extremely polite friendly and helpful. We arrived for our booking for afternoon tea at 12.30 and were pleasantly surprised to discover our room was ready and therefore were given early access which was unexpected. However on being shown to our room discovered it was a double when I had specifically requested a twin, this however was quickly remedied while we were enjoying our afternoon tea which was lovely and served promptly and attentively. Unfortunately this was definitely NOT the case the following morning for breakfast. On the welcome sheet it recommended booking for breakfast which I did at 8.05 am for a time of 8.30 which was agreed as not being a problem. This however seemed to be when we arrived and although shown to a table for two within a few minutes it then required to be set, and it took a further 15 minutes for anyone to take a drinks order. Finally after 40 minutes I approached the waiter to have our actual breakfast order taken as we had a train to catch at 10.30. We weren’t alone in this situation as a further couple who arrived shortly after ourselves also complained about waiting 45 minutes for an order to be taken!! While I appreciate any coffee orders were made to order by hand (by this waiter) meanwhile at least 6/8 people were sitting waiting on their breakfast order to actually be taken!! This sadly took away from what had previously been a wonderful experience gift my son in Australia had paid for my special birthday. A fact I explained on booking and again at reception when I be arrived and sadly was never mentioned or acknowledged by anyone throughout my stay. All in all quite a poor show by the management. I would have thought someone may have at least made an effort in some way regarding it being my 70th birthday present.

Wedding! Amazing day!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 6 days ago

Me and my husband had a wedding here on Saturday the 25th October. We had an amazing day and we could not have achieved this without Georgios and Olivia! They were amazing! And at our beck and call the whole day! From setting up, from making sure everything was perfect and in place. We cannot fault them, and I would highly recommend the roseate if you’re looking for an intimate wedding service! It was a pristine and impeccable service at such a high standard and beautifully done. Thanks again to Georgios and Olivia for making our day special. Rochelle & Scott x

Great hotel. Watch out for the weekend surcharge

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

The Hotel is brilliant, the staff great and the location for an individualist hotel excepcional. You are 15 mins walk from Haymarket, 25 mins walk from Princess Str. There is limited parking in the hotel grounds, but parking in the street did not seem to be a problem. (We did get hotel parking so cannot say it wasn’t an issue). The room was terrific. On suite, with walk in shower, and bath in a bay window!. Breakfast was absolutely full on, and if you go for the full Scottish, I guarantee you will not need lunch. We had dinner in the hotel on the first night and that was really nice. The staff attentive with the food pleasing and the atmosphere relaxing. The only downside was the cost. I had booked for a Thursday & Friday night. What I hadn’t realised was that Friday night is classified as a weekend and charged at a premium of £150 extra. That excess is detailed in their T&Cs, and I should have read them, but even so, you do not expect that kind of surcharge for a weekend in early October

VERY comfortable beds

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 weeks ago

The Roseate Edinburgh was the first hotel we stayed in on our 10 day trip to Scotland. It was a lovely older place and the beds were very comfortable. We only stayed one night but we would definitely stay again.

Exceptional stay at a gorgeous property

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 weeks ago

I cherished my stay at Roseate. Here’s what you should know before booking. THE ROOMS: - I stayed in a suite on floor one for the majority of my stay and switched to a small room on floor 3 for the final night. The suite was stunning. The room that dreams are made of with beautiful linens and a massive tub and nice touches like a Nespresso machine, kettle and homemade shortbreads. Negative - rooms on floor 1 are literally at the entrance with is also where check in and luggage store happens as well as entrance to the restaurant and bar so it was really loud. At multiple points people were clearly standing right outside of my door having VERY loud conversations and 2 mornings people were sitting right outside of my window having coffee and loud convos - it was jarring to open my blinds and be greeted by strangers staring back at me. I think the room was worth the disruptions but if you’re particularly sensitive to noise - FYI. The room upstairs was very small but very quiet. I wouldn’t want to spend more than 2 nights in such a small room especially if I was sharing it with somebody but the property is worth experiencing so if that’s what’s available - do it! THE SERVICE: Impeccable service from the front desk staff. Restaurant service was hit and miss. The ladies were really on top of it but on day 3 the staff changed and there also must have been an influx of guests because the gents working breakfast were so overwhelmed and just seemed to really struggle. They were still really polite and accommodating but the quality of service wasn’t as high as it had been. THE FOOD: Breakfast was included with my stay and it appeared that it’s included for anybody staying in the main house. The breakfast selections were vast. The food was incredible. The dining room is gorgeous. It was an absolutely wonderful way to start each day. I also had dinner one night and a few other small bites. The food was expertly prepared and while I found it a bit over priced it was very delicious. TLDR: Exceptional and very special stay. I’d highly recommend Roseate Edinburgh. 2 final thoughts - It’s a bit outside of central Edinburgh so if want to be a short walk from the main tourist attractions this might be too far for you. It’s a 30-minute walk so when the weather is nice, it’s lovely. It’s also a short uber. The signature scent they constantly pump into the hotel restaurant is soooooo overwhelming it is nauseating. I don’t know how the staff doesn’t get migraines from it. I hated HATED having to be constantly inundated with such a strong scent especially when trying to enjoy food. 1/10 dial it back!!
