The Roseate Edinburgh

We were really excited to stay here for our honeymoon after reading so many rave reviews from others celebrating special occasions. Unfortunately, our experience didn’t match the hype. Other than a quick “congratulations” at check‑in, our honeymoon wasn’t acknowledged at all, which was disappointing given how highly the hotel markets itself for special stays. Our room was airy, but definitely tired in places. While the heated bathroom floor was a nice touch, there was very little storage and the sink didn’t drain properly. We also had to call down for a hairdryer, and whilst the receptionist was really helpful, the staff member who came to the room was surprisingly rude and made us feel quite embarrassed for not being able to find it. A word of warning if you’re staying in the house across the road rather than the main hotel: just be careful what you pack as the house is down two flights of stairs then back up two flights of stairs again. Not ideal, especially for a honeymoon arrival. Whilst breakfast was delicious, it was very confusing and not well explained. There is no price on the menu and it was unclear if you were paying per item or if there was a standard price and you could eat as much as you liked. The staff were really friendly but did not explain this to us and portion sizes were small for the price. Housekeeping came early on the morning we were checking out, which felt rushed, and we had very little interaction with staff throughout our stay. At checkout, we were asked to pay a service charge for the cleaning and upkeep of the house. We were a little shocked by this as we had expected that to be included for the price we paid! They did then say it was a voluntary charge so we asked for this to be removed. Overall, if you’re staying in the main hotel, you’ll likely have a much better experience and feel well looked after. But if you’re placed in the house across the road, it does feel like you’re an afterthought, which is a real shame for what was meant to be a luxury honeymoon stay.

We had such a lovely visit to The Roseate, beautiful decor, great atmosphere and welcoming, friendly, professional staff. Particular shout out to Alexander who served us with a smile and made our afternoon all the more enjoyable!

I booked this Hotel in February. Great correspondents from the Hotel manager. Upon arrival we were warmly greeted and the manager remembered our correspondence. He was warm and welcoming. Ronaon checked us in and an amazing young lady. Very helpful and a wonderful smile. We also met Laura who was there to help us to settle in and get breakfast. She has an amazing smile and is very outgoing. While we were there Solton helped us with places to go and where to get meals off site. He really knows the city. At the restaurant we met Anna(Anya) she has a great sense of humor and really helped us a lot. She provided us with insight to the meals and remembered what your likes are. AGA the chef makes wonderful pancakes the best I have ever had. We are going to miss this wonderful hotel. And will miss Anna as she really made us feel comfortable at the hotel. Jim

As a Hyatt Globalist, my stay at The Roseate Edinburgh was highly disappointing. While I understood that Mr & Mrs Smith properties offer limited elite benefits, the lack of basic hospitality here was unacceptable. There was zero elite recognition at check-in. Instead of a space-available upgrade, I was assigned to a tiny attic room with severely sloped, low ceilings, making it difficult and uncomfortable to even walk around. To make matters worse, basic front-desk service at night was missing: no one answers the phone to explain how to connect to the hotel Wi-Fi. If you are a World of Hyatt elite expecting proper loyalty recognition or a comfortable premium stay in Edinburgh, I strongly advise looking elsewhere. The room photos are very misleading as they can be very different.

Exceptional service from Rhiannon for lunch, she was very lovely and sat us down at our table. Katie and Jason were also very informative and helpful
