The majestic structure housing The Scotsman Hotel has dominated the Edinburgh skyline for over a century, and has enchanted residents and visitors to the region since opening in 2001. This grand destination promises unsurpassed luxury. Residing in the former Scotsman Newspaper building, the hotel's lavish interior pays homage to its storied past, preserving the ornate ceilings, oak paneling, and imposing marble pillars. Located on renowned North Bridge in one of Scotland's largest cities, The Scotsman's elaborate façade seamlessly blends into Edinburgh's breathtakingly baroque backdrop. Each of the hotel's guest rooms is distinctive in its grandeur and design with elegant features including curved corner bay windows, marble bathrooms, and exquisite views of the city. The property, a part of the LVX collection of Preferred Hotels & Resorts also features a sprawling private screening room complete with opulent leather seats, because nothing is as important as your luxury experience at The Scotsman Hotel.

If you are Gluten Free DO NOT GO TO THIS HOTEL. We enquired before our trip to check the breakfast was GF and were assured it was. After the first breakfast my wife had to rush off and was unwell. Luckily we had some tablets the doctor had prescribed. The next day we asked to speak to the chef and he assured us the bread was GF, we asked if the bread went into a separate toaster and he said "no'. We complained to reception, the man was shocked and said he would sort it. The next day when we went to breakfast the waiter said we should have received a letter (didn't receive it) he said we have bought a separate toaster, sausages and croissants. Feeling obliged she had a croissant, she again had to make a sharp exit from breakfast and had a bad reaction, this time instead of her feeling poorly for 1/2 a day it lasted quite a few days as it affects the autoimmune system. There were a few problems with the room but not important in the scheme of things. When we left my wife wasn't feeling too good so we decided to write to the General Manager on our return home as she was completely drained. We had a response which was very dismissive and condescending and didn't even offer to refund the breakfast money. It ruined what was supposed to be a special family birthday. I will be reporting them to Environmental Health as this is not acceptable. There are further details I could give but this is long enough.

I confess that I fell in love with this hotel before I visited: not because of the beautiful site or excellent reviews, but rather because I made my reservation over the phone for a specific room arrangement, and the reservations, agent Adrien was outstanding and welcoming in accommodating me. The Scotsman itself is a beautiful property, with an excellent location, architecture and main chambers that evoke its history and echo Edinburgh, and up-to-date rooming accommodations with all the appointments. Is the staff, however, that steals the show. Everyone we had contact with was hospitable, welcoming, and kind. I would be remiss if I did not mention the front desk manager, Greg, who went above and beyond the call of duty on several occasions to assist us and make sure that we were taking good care of. Individuals like Greg are the essence of the hospitality industry, and ensure that guests not only feel like they’re at home but also will want to return. If we love Edinburgh and want to return, we can thank Greg and the staff of the Scotsman!

Coming back to the Scotsman Hotel feels like coming home. We have stayed here a number of times and every time our stay has been perfect. This visit we chose to stay in one of the Directors Rooms off the main lobby. What a wonderful room - steeped in history and so so big! Staff were fantastic - always warm and friendly. A special shout out to Amelia on the front desk who was so thoughtful leaving a lovely card in our room and some really scrumptious chocolates. She also went the extra mile to make sure we could watch the Olympics curling final and the Six nations rugby match in the bar. Thanks also to Reese who was always on hand to deal with any queries. And lovely to catch up with Charlie (concierge) before leaving for home. Hope to be back again in the near future - wonderful hotel/ central location/ great food/ fantastic unique rooms.

The location of the hotel is perfect. The welcome was warm. The room we had was a lovely well furnished room but unfortunately there was a constant hum from I don’t know what all day and all night. There was no view from the bedroom window except the smoking yard of a pub very disappointing bearing in mind the cost of the room. room 208
