The majestic structure housing The Scotsman Hotel has dominated the Edinburgh skyline for over a century, and has enchanted residents and visitors to the region since opening in 2001. This grand destination promises unsurpassed luxury. Residing in the former Scotsman Newspaper building, the hotel's lavish interior pays homage to its storied past, preserving the ornate ceilings, oak paneling, and imposing marble pillars. Located on renowned North Bridge in one of Scotland's largest cities, The Scotsman's elaborate façade seamlessly blends into Edinburgh's breathtakingly baroque backdrop. Each of the hotel's guest rooms is distinctive in its grandeur and design with elegant features including curved corner bay windows, marble bathrooms, and exquisite views of the city. The property, a part of the LVX collection of Preferred Hotels & Resorts also features a sprawling private screening room complete with opulent leather seats, because nothing is as important as your luxury experience at The Scotsman Hotel.

The Scotsman is an institution in Edinburgh, and it feels like an honour to stay and dine there. Its location, right in the heart of the city, is truly unbeatable. We’ll be back — it feels just like visiting old friends. Many thanks, Jonathan, for your wonderful restaurant recommendations and for your helpful and open manner.

The hotel was nice and if I were rating the hotel alone I would likely give it no more than a 4 but barely. The hotel’s concierge service and in particular, Jonathan, makes the Scotsman a 5. When we arrived we were thinking of going out for a walk and maybe grab some dinner. Sounds simple enough but I threw 2 curveballs: 1. I needed gluten free meals and 2. I was looking for a service kilt and stores only carried tartan kilts. While I was walking around, Jonathan emailed me that not only had he made me a gluten free reservation for that night, but he had gluten free recommendations for the remainder of my trip and found a store that could get me the service kilt I was looking for. The first restaurant for that night, The Black Grape, was great! Not just in food, but in service, table reserved and atmosphere. His second restaurant recommendation of Eleanore, was even better. Eleanore is not a Michelin restaurant, YET, but it should be. The food, the service, the wine pairings, the music were beyond spectacular AND gluten free. The store he recommended did indeed come through with the service kilt I needed. So if you are going to Edinburgh, call and see if Jonathan is working, if he is, book your stay and go wherever he recommends. Jonathan is 5 stars plus!

Great hotel with large rooms. I have stayed there twice now and both times the rooms were large with big bathrooms. The hotel has an art deco cinema in house which is well worth a visit for the experience. The staff are friendly and helpful and the hotel is very clean. The restaurant is very good too with beautiful decor. Very close to Waverley station and perfectly positioned to explore Edinburgh Old Town and beyond, with easy access to the tram system. Tip, to avoid climbing, there is a separate “hidden” entrance by the exit to Waverley station just by the steps up to North Bridge.

This hotel was fabulous, lovely decor with fabulous art throughout Very hip yet, old world, just a minute from The Royal Mile and next to Waverly train station. The room was spacious and very comfortable with a wonderful helpful staff. The breakfast was delicious. I highly recommend !

Great Hotel location with attentive staff. We opted not to have breakfast included as we were planning to be out and about quite early. Our reporter room had everything we needed for a 3 night stay and was well located near the station to pick up our hire car and head up to the highlands.
