Lovely room but did not reflect the modern one shown/chosen upon booking. Draft in the room, room service requested was not delivered at all and no explanation as to why, loud noises similar to banging from 5am which could be heard every few minutes resulting in very little sleep and a very tired day ahead instead of being able to enjoy the room and rest. Hotel did not take correct payment details from card which caused undue stress and issues. Overall, not worth the price tag and a disappointing stay for our first time to Scotland.

We have just returned from a few days staying at the Scotsman hotel. On the whole we had an enjoyable stay which was made even better by the professionalism and excellent customer service demonstrated by all members of staff; friendly, welcoming and helpful throughout our stay. I would also like to say thank you for the additional touches of chocolates and drams of whiskey for my husband's birthday, it was greatly appreciated. Our room was located on the 6th floor and was pleasant in decor but freezing cold, the heating did not appear to work and we reported this and the noise emanating from the vents/ceiling but it was never dealt with. My husband re-reported it when we checked out. The bed was amazingly comfortable and housekeeping faultless. Some areas of the room and the hotel in general showed signs of wear and tear….. stained carpet, dents in cupboards, marks on sofas and the display cabinets on the 6th floor needed a good clean. We also experienced a constant banging/ knocking noise in our room. It sounded like something was loose on the roof or may have been from the nearby building work on the bridge. The cooked breakfast was very tasty and you could also pick other options from the menu, which were made to order, such as porridge, eggs Benedict etc. Staff were great and attentive. The hotel has a lot of history, is quite quirky in places and has a lot of charm but needs more attention in some areas. However, it is ideally located and a great base. The staff make this hotel !!

We booked an overnight stay direct, all prepaid. Checked into the room and we had a note welcoming us on our honeymoon ( we weren’t on honeymoon, so no idea where that information came from). Breakfast (included in the rate) was poor, cold plates, pretty much inedible food). Checked out, no charges applied. On returning home we noticed a £15 charge. I emailed the reception to query this, was told it was a mini bar charge ( we hadn’t taken anything from the mini bar!). I actually phoned, spoke to someone on reception and disputed this, was told they would need to speak to the Manager. No response, emailed again to chase, again no response, have now emailed a third time! Appalling levels of customer service, needless to say we wouldn’t recommend them or stay with them again. We’re now raising a dispute with our credit card company over this totally incorrect charge.

We have just returned from 2 nights at the Scotsman hotel and all I can say is wow. I had booked a Double Feature Room which was stunning however the bathroom was very small which my mother struggled with. I mentioned this to reception and Paulina couldn’t have been more accommodating. She showed me another room on the 9th floor which was lovely and I happened to make a joke about us staying in the Penthouse suite. We went for dinner and she said she would bring our keys. 15 mins later she appears and told us she had upgraded us to the Penthouse. We were so excited and grateful that she went above and beyond for us. The room was stunning. We didn’t want to leave. We had breakfast in our room due to all the space and it was delicious each morning. The facilities in the room like spa bath and steam room/shower were amazing. All the Arran Aromatics toiletries were beautiful and the lounge area so bright and comfortable. We even had our own little Christmas tree. The balcony was lovely but unfortunately it rained our entire stay lol. The views were great and we felt treated like royalty. 100% would recommend this hotel and I just want to say another thank you to Paulina. What a star!

I will never forget the room 803. We landed late at edinburgh and we were quite tired, but happy that we arrived and couls rest. (We found later that no, we can't rest) The room had zero sound insulation — there was no double window, so we could hear every single noise from the street. Ambulances, people shouting, cars passing… it felt like we were sleeping on the sidewalk. We literally got 0 hours of sleep. On top of that, the room was tiny and claustrophobic, with a weirdly shaped ceiling that made it feel even smaller. It wasn’t even clean — dusty corners, stains on the floor. The ceiling was so low and oddly slanted that I actually hit my head when trying to go to the bathroom. Overall, this was one of the worst hotel experiences I’ve ever had. I paid almost 500 euros for this room at the first night and even thought the staff chanfed my room the next day no one even said sorry. Do you guys know that the primary goal of an hotel is to allow people to rest properly? Sorry, that wasn't accomplished. I don't give it a 1 star because we changed the room next nights, but this hotel is a big no on my next stays Definitely not worth the money — avoid this place unless you enjoy sleepless nights and headaches (literally). As a last note, try at least to put some fresh products in the breakfast at the morning.
