Great experience, especially concierge
The Scotsman is a terrific hotel with clean, nicely decorated rooms. Its location is especially handy as a link between Old Town and New Town activities. We found the staff to be helpful and friendly. Of particular note was the concierge David, who provided terrific restaurant recommendations late on a Saturday afternoon, a time when reservations can be a challenge. We ended up having a lovely meal within walking distance of the hotel. David greeted us the next morning at checkout, taking time to get our bags down to the lower street level for an easy crossing into the station. The Scotsman is a lovely hotel and David made it feel especially hospitable.

We spent the weekend of 24–27 September in Scotland, staying in Edinburgh at the wonderful Scotsman Hotel. It is an excellent hotel in one of the very best locations, just a stone’s throw from the Royal Mile, with both the palace and the castle only a short walk away. The hotel is clean, well maintained, romantic, and full of character. From the moment we arrived, the friendly staff made us feel genuinely welcome and at home. The concierge service in particular was invaluable. We would especially like to thank Paul and Alan, who helped our group of eight gentlemen turn our basic programme into a perfectly arranged itinerary, including taxi services, restaurants, pubs, activities, walks, and a beautiful day of golf. Thanks to their support, we enjoyed a wonderfully organised trip and were truly able to experience the best of Scotland.

Above and Beyond
I don't know if I've ever been more impressed by a hotel and the staff. The location was perfect on the corner of Mile Street and the river, the rooms were clean and elegantly updated while still maintaining the feeling of the historic building, and the staff was truly exceptional. Their bellman personally walked me and my luggage through the train station and helped me locate the correct train upon my departure. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Edinburgh and I know I will be back.
