Not luxury

Long check in time. Antiquated system. I still had to hand write my home address Room was ok but poor extraction fan and confusing light switches. Rom wasn’t cleaned until after 3pm on both days and even then I had to ask them to do it. Long queue to wait for breakfast. Even longer to get a fresh coffee (you’d finished eating by the time coffee came) Drinks in bar over priced. Even then the barman took ages to pour 4 pints…. By this stage in a normal pub they’d have served 10 people. He used a stapler for paper!!!! Ages to check out, despite 4 staff members manning the desk. Spa was ok but not worth £45 each. No views of the city from the pool; very misleading photographs on hotel website. Pool Lockers mostly broken. Scottish breakfast had no Lorne sausage but in plus side did have potato scones. At £17 each…very pricey. £25 if you book on the day. It’s equivalent to a 3* Holiday Inn express. Not as posh looking as I was hoping. Go somewhere cheaper.

Our children booked a 2 night stay for us for our anniversary. The hotel is in a great location at the bottom of Princes Street so easy access to shopping and historical sites. It is a beautiful hotel, even more so this time of year and the rooms are fantastic with the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in. Food and drink reasonable and on a par with the rest of central Edinburgh, the Spa is excellent and reasonably priced for guests. Staff were all very polite , friendly and helpful and nothing too much trouble , they also provided a bonus bottle of prosecco in the room on arrival.Would definitely recommend a stay here.

Just OK

We arrived at the hotel, parked the car and headed to check in, surprisingly our room was ready early, 12pm. The room was clean, however the bathroom was a ‘glass pod’ there wasn’t a view, directly opposite were offices. We opened the window to let some air in and all we could hear was the whirring of fans. Breakfast was included, however we had to queue to be seated. Surprisingly breakfast was buffet style, no menu to order from. Hot items weren’t replenished therefore selection was limited. Staff were lovely, friendly and helpful. We ate in the bar on the first evening, burgers looked amazing, I ordered the steak, chips and peppercorn sauce, the sauce was the consistency of water and cold. A replacement came eventually, and again was cold. All in all, from having stayed in 5* hotels this really didn’t tick the boxes that you’d expect. Next time we visit Edinburgh we would choose another hotel.

Dear Sheraton and Tomasz at reception, Thank you so much for our fabulous stay at Sheraton Edinburgh last weekend. From the second of our arrival Tomasz at reception was exceptional. We felt so welcomed and cared for. Tomasz was great to agree to upgrade our room to the Cadtle suite! He was so helpful and professional. Ho found best options for our spa and afternoon tea! He was such a gentleman! Sheraton is very lucky to have such a great, nice, polite and professional employee! Thank you, Tomasz, you made our stay incredible! Very grateful, Dr Oli Chapman
