Recently stayed at the Sheraton Grand Edinburgh for two nights as a graduation treat for my niece, and we had a wonderful experience. From the moment we arrived, we felt very well looked after. We were delighted to receive a complimentary upgrade to a room with a stunning castle view, along with some Prosecco and a lovely handwritten card to celebrate the occasion. It was such a thoughtful touch that made our stay feel extra special. The hotel is in a fantastic location, within easy walking distance of Edinburgh's main attractions. Our room was spacious, spotless, and very comfortable. Breakfast was excellent, with both a generous buffet and a great à la carte menu offering plenty of choice. The rooftop hydropool was definitely a highlight and a lovely way to relax after exploring the city. There were a couple of minor issues during our stay. The hydropool jets weren't working properly, which perhaps also explained the lower-than-expected water pressure in our room. The ordering system at breakfast also crashed, causing slight delays. However, these were small inconveniences that didn't detract from our overall enjoyment and certainly weren't enough to reduce my rating. Overall, we had a fantastic stay and would happily return. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Edinburgh.

I cannot imagine a better value for your money. First, the location. It sits at the base of the hill, right below the Edinburgh castle- 15 minute walk to the esplanade/Royal mile - which is mostly where you want to be in Edinburgh. Second, if you have status with Bonvoy, you know that the Owner's Clubs are highly variable. Here, the breakfast and happy hour are amazing. We only ate out for dinner twice while we were here, enough snacks for a meal for both vegetarians and omnivores. Also, they do not scrimp on drinks. Very nice Prosecco and I stopped saying yes before they stopped offering! The room was lovely. We didn't get a suite upgrade (oh well), but the regular room was roomy enough for two - king sized bed, very comfortable mattress, bathrobe and slippers. Staff were also extremely nice and helpful.

Stayed at this hotel for 4 nights. Housekeeping was terrible. Went out at 10:00am and came back just now at 5:15pm. The room was not even cleaned. Did not have the do not disturb sign on the door and even called the reception to ask them to clean the room for me at 12:00pm. This was not acceptable for even a three star or lowered starred hotel but just happened at a five star hotel. Bed was very uncomfortable and small. Lounge breakfast was even worse than the level 2 one which was also terrible. Also need to pay to use the rooftop pool and the staff did not even allow you to view it before deciding whether to pay or not. One of the worst 5 star hotels in the UK. Avoid at all costs!! Just talked to one of the supervisors Nicola who just only apologized and said the hotel was busy. I do not accept this as an excuse. I am out of the room for nearly 8 hours and no one was there to clean the room. This was not acceptable! Her attitude was also not great and only offered a drink as a compensation which is not needed as I have access to all the drinks as I have access to the lounge. Worst hotel in Edinburgh. Plenty of options that are available at this price!

Treated like royalty. Front desk and concierge were very accommodating. Rooms had everything we needed. Hotel supplied activities and toys for my young children. Great central location for walking to the sights.

We had booked the hotel for Sunday, Monday and Tuesday night, flying from Florida to Edinburgh overnight Saturday. We missed our flight on Saturday evening and couldn’t leave the US until Sunday evening arriving on Monday. On Sunday morning, our travel agent called the reservation line and spoke to someone telling them we would not be arriving until Monday afternoon and please change our reservation to two nights instead of three. When we arrived at the hotel Monday afternoon, we spoke to Front Desk personnel who told us that because we didn’t have the name of the person our travel agent spoke with or any documentation in their system of the call, they could not give us the refund on our first night which totaled about $500. Our agent has since emailed the hotel again asking for a refund on the missed night and has not gotten any response. Needless to say, this put quite a damper on our 10 day European vacation! The room was very nice and faced the castle and the breakfast that we had in the dining room was delicious and there was a lot of choices with good service from the wait staff. But it was all clouded because we lost $500 and no one would discuss this with us.
