We booked hoping for a strategically located base in Old Town Edinburgh. We got that plus so much more: friendly and efficient staff; spotless and comfortable room; all the service you expect from a boutique hotel; beautiful Terrace views of the Castle and city. Will definitely return.

My boyfriend and I not enjoy staying at this hotel. The rooms had a strange layout and our castle view room was very loud. At best, I would call this a four star hotel. We had a couple of issues which were reported but never addressed. Staff seemed disinterested. I would not stay here again.

This was supposed to be a special trip away for my 21st birthday, don’t get me wrong the hotel interior was beautiful as well as the location, however the staff were not polite, we felt we were being treated differently due to our age, we never even got asked how our stay was. Following on from that when we asked for help about where things were they were rude. When we went for food in the hotel the restaurant was basically empty however we some how received our food before our drinks which isn’t acceptable. Following on from this I did write a complaint about my experience and never heard back. Personally I was highly disappointed with my stay as this was supposed to be a special occasion which was why we chose to stay here.

The staff at Virgin Hotels Edinburgh were incredibly friendly and welcoming, which we really appreciated. Unfortunately, our first room had multiple issues—not the least of which was its location on the second floor overlooking the garbage ( which smelled) and laundry. At 7:30 AM the next morning, the delivery of new laundry banging our wall through the alley was so loud it woke us straight out of bed. Very upsetting after a long trip. That said, the hotel handled the situation well. Though moving rooms was a big hassle, they did make it right and gave us a new room. We were grateful for their professionalism and responsiveness, which made a frustrating experience much more manageable.

The location could not be better - so easy to walk to many sights and great restaurants. The concierge desk was always helpful, and the breakfast is fantastic with plenty of options. My room was super comfortable and I had a great view of. Victoria Street. Would stay in this hotel again.
