Exceptional 5* hotel in the heart of the Old Town

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 day ago

We stayed here for one night while attending a friend's wedding in Scotland. We booked the hotel based on an Instagram recommendation and didn't think much more of it, however our expectations were certainly met! From start to finish the experience was exceptional and there is nothing I could find fault in (not that I was trying to). We will definitely be staying again should we revisit Edinburgh and the addition of a spa later this year will make this a truly 5* hotel. If I was to give one recommendation, it would be not to opt for a buffet breakfast, unless that's your style, as there are plenty of options on the a la carte breakfast menu which are plentiful for a full day exploring the city.

Gorgeous hotel - walkable to main areas

I stayed here for the first time on December while in Edinburgh for Xmas markets and our travel team Xmas party. Welcome fizz at check-in was the perfect start after our train journey down. As we had arrived early our room wasn’t ready BUT we were able to view some of the amazing suites they had - Ted’s Suite and Eve’s Suite. They were beautiful and definitely somewhere I’d love to stay for a special occasion. We had booked a standard room but lucky enough to have an upgrade and was a lovely spacious room. We were also welcomed with drink tokens and macarons. The location is great. Walkable to princess street (however for our evening event we opted for a taxi). Breakfast was delicious. We ordered off the menu but also sampled the buffet. Overall a brilliant stay and would definitely consider here again when visiting Edinburgh.

Picture perfect

We stayed in the Edinburgh Virgin hotel. At the first glance you notice the specialness of the hotel before even walking through the door. Conveniently situated in Victoria road, right off the royal mile, is a beautifully blended fancy red door, cozy and decorated in lights and garlands. As you walk through you are met with a grand red staircase, a doorman and corridors that you feel need to be photographed at every angle. The concierge made us feel welcome instantly, greeting us with a glass of bubbly. He had the bags taken instantly to our room as we collected our keys ( these are playing cards in the theme of the hotel). The rooms are quirky, different than any room I’ve stayed in ever! The beds are huge! Minibar fully stocked at RRP. We ventured to the roof terrace for views and they did not disappoint, will be perfect in the spring/ summer. We’ll definitely be visiting back again.
