Top-knotch experience in Edinburgh
Perfect stay in Edinburgh. Central location, walkable to everything the city offers. The rooms are comfortable and modern, and this is the one place we stayed in Scotland that had in-room AC (which was so helpful during the heatwave during our trip). Friendly and informed staff, fabulous dining options on-site, and the quickest and most discrete cleaners I've ever encountered in a hotel. All around fabulous place to stay!

Marketing above consistency
Having lodged at Son Bunyola our expectation was for a consistent quality in hotel services. Reality shows the Virgin brand is very good at marketing but when it comes to reality they do not offer 5 star everywhere. This hotel es ideally located up on the hill close to the castle. They created it joining some historic buildings on a very pretty street and building a new hotel hidden behind them. It is a maze but the architectural job is well done. We had a deluxe double room in the historic India Building consisting of an average sized bedroom and a compartimented bathroom that serves as access hall to the room ( not ideal ). AC and WIFI work very well. The bed and linens are comfortable. There was minimal space for clothes. Not one drawer or shelves. Our clothes had to remain in the suitcase as in a 2 star hotel. The restaurant is good, although noisy. Breakfast is served buffet style in a rather standard way. Staff at Reception offer the minimum kindness necessary. The concierge is well trained and does a good job.
