Genuinely so pleasantly surprised. My young daughter and I were travelling as part of some filming work she was doing. Usually when we go together, we end up with a situation where she’s gone to bed and I’m working in the evening, and I’m disturbing her or I’m having to work with a tiny lamp on so as not to wake her. This room could not have been a better layout for two people, because it had a lovely entranceway, with a sliding door to the bedroom area. This made it feel almost like having two rooms. It doesn’t need to be an enormous space, if the layout is absolutely spot-on, and this absolutely was the case. I was able to work in the hallway at the separate dressing table in perfect comfort, and she was able to sleep in the bedroom behind the sliding door and not be disturbed even slightly by me. It honestly couldn’t have worked better. The bathroom was split into three, with the toilet and huge shower in separate rooms, and the huge sink was in the entrance hall, with all the space we could possibly need. There was a separate dressing table which meant I wasn’t stacking make up by the sink, etc. The wardrobe had a curtain to screen everything off and we honestly felt like we could keep everything tidy and neat without feeling like we were living out of a suitcase. The hairdryer actually worked and was powerful. A small thing but yet a huge win! Everything was controlled by control panels - from the heating to the lights to the Do Not Disturb light on the door. Honestly the best hotel room we have stayed in in a city. The layout was the absolute winner and the staff just topped it all off. Welcoming, helpful, without being cringey over the top. Breakfast was excellent. Nothing too fancy, and really well done. Roof terrace is a must. What a joy. Impeccably clean, down to every last tile in the bathroom. Not a speck of dust anywhere. Also - perfectly blackout curtains. A must with children when it doesn’t get dark until 10:30pm! We will definitely be back with the rest of the family. The location is superb and the whole experience was so calm. Thank you :)

The Hotel is really amazing, the staff were fantastic and couldn't do enough for you. We were greeted on arrival at 10:30am with a glass of champagne and told we could check in and once our room was ready they would call. Once we got to reception they informed us the room was ready checked us in and gave us the key. The room was large and spacious, all the coffee, biscuits, shower gel and lotions were of top quality. The breakfast was really nice and served in the restaurant on the ground floor. The location was great and in the old town 5 minutes from the castle we lots of lovely restaurants and bars close by. Highly recommend staying here and would stay again and feel confident booking virgin hotels elsewhere

Great Hotel, well located & very friendly, helpful staff. Staff member Zac (Australian lad) went out of his way to look after us. He was a pleasure to deal with 😀

One the best over night stays we have ever had. Everything was exceptional. The two receptionists went above and beyond.

First visit to Edinburgh and stayed at the Virgin Hotel. We chose it because of the location, but we couldn’t have chosen better. Our experience was very good and would recommend this hotel.
