W Edinburgh brings a modern, design-forward perspective to the city through three architecturally distinct buildings—Ribbon Building, James Craig Walk, and Quarter House—each offering its own style of accommodation and atmosphere. The dramatic Ribbon Building, inspired by the flowing curves of a ribbon, houses many of the hotel’s signature rooms and suites with sweeping skyline views and bold contemporary interiors. James Craig Walk offers a more classic Georgian-inspired setting with elegant details that connect to Edinburgh’s historic character, while Quarter House provides sleek, residential-style accommodations ideal for extended or more private stays. Across all three buildings, guests can enjoy stylish guest rooms with floor-to-ceiling windows, curated design details, and the brand’s signature Whatever/Whenever® service. The overall theme balances bold modern luxury with the cultural richness of Edinburgh, creating a stay that feels fashionable, immersive, and distinctly dynamic.
Dining, wellness, and location elevate the experience. The hotel is home to multiple destination dining and cocktail venues, including rooftop spaces with sweeping views across Edinburgh Castle, Calton Hill, and the city skyline. Guests can enjoy globally inspired cuisine, crafted cocktails, and lively social atmospheres throughout the property. Wellness offerings include spa and relaxation experiences designed to complement the hotel’s energetic pace.

Great hotel in the centre of Edinburgh next to the St James shopping centre, best view in Edinburgh, nothing better than sitting looking over Arthur’s Seat & the chimney tops of Edinburgh having a few drinks, also the rooms are excellent & service fantastic Would fully recommend

Stayed at the W Edinburgh hotel for 2 nights it was amazing. Treated like royalty from we arrived. Reception staff were lovely and very welcoming. Room was lovely and nice view from the window. Bed was so comfortable and plenty of room in it. Breakfast was very nice and the staff were lovely. Could have stayed for another night definitely will be back again.

Our first hotel stay during our Scotland trip. Other hotels throughout the trip were quite nice, but the W reigned supreme. The staff were very friendly and the location was great. Breakfast was delicious and the restaurant offered a beautiful view overlooking the city. The lounge was nice as well and we enjoyed some delicious drinks before heading out for the evening. The room offered super comfortable beds, a spacious shower with a rain head, and a well-appointed mini bar and snack basket. Convenient valet parking is available as well. We’ll be back!

I’ve visited W Edinburgh twice in the last few weeks because I like to support local venues, and while the hotel has incredible potential, it’s currently falling short when it comes to customer service and genuine hospitality. I’m a very busy person and don’t often have the opportunity to spend the money I work hard to earn, so when I do choose to treat myself, I really value the overall experience and the feeling of being looked after. Unfortunately, that was missing on both occasions. My first visit was to the spa. The facilities were clean, relaxing and well presented, and the views are absolutely stunning. However, the overall experience lacked that special touch you’d expect from a luxury hotel. It felt efficient rather than memorable, with little effort made to make guests feel genuinely welcomed or valued. I decided to give it another chance and returned the following weekend with my partner for drinks after a day of shopping. Unfortunately, this experience was disappointing too. We were tired and looking forward to relaxing, but we left feeling somewhat judged and were seated at the back of the bar with very limited views, despite the venue being known for its spectacular setting. The drinks were expensive, which is expected at a hotel of this standard, but they lacked flavour and didn’t justify the price point. W Edinburgh is a beautiful venue with breathtaking views and huge potential, but it’s missing a trick when it comes to delivering genuine hospitality. Luxury isn’t just about the surroundings – it’s about making people feel special, welcomed and valued. As someone who doesn’t get many opportunities to slow down and enjoy the rewards of working hard, that’s the part of the experience that matters most, and unfortunately, it’s the element that’s currently missing. The W should consider following in the footsteps of Gleneagles Hotels, as I will continue to spend my time there in the future.

What a find! Beautiful rooftop terrace with 360 views of the city. Fantastic staff team. All very accommodating. Definitely will be back and make it a fuller stay.
