W Edinburgh

I really really love the rooftop of the hotel. The view is fantastic. It has similar view of Calton Hill but you don't need to climb to the mountain and being with crowds of people. The room and service is also not bad. The restaurant is with good service though the food is not the best.

Our Daughter was kind enough to take Myself and My Wife out in Edinburgh today, part of which was a visit to "The W " for drinks. We arrived and found our way to our pre-booked table in the bar ,service was good, We ordered a Bottle of wine and enquired about sitting on the rooftop bar as it was such a lovely day. My Daughter was invited to reconoitter the area. Eventually we moved to the rooftop carrying our drinks with us and found seats,we had been seated for around ten/fifteen minutes and then moved to a nicer position , it this was at this stage that We were challenged fairly abruptly and told that We shouldn't have brought glass outside , we apologised for our error and asked if we could be given an alternative option , we were informed we'd have to return downstairs and change over ourselves, no assistance was offered . My Daughter dealt with this matter and was also offered some snacks , when She returned to the rooftop area She was told ,again very abruptly, that no snacks were allowed on the rooftop area and had to hand them back. We attempted to put this uncomfortable episode behind us ,relaxed , and then ordered more drinks. Service was slow but ,eventually, the drinks were brought by the same person that had caused our issues, she appeared uncomfortable carrying three drinks and accidentally spilled My Cocktail in to My Wife's, when we politely pointed this out She loudly denied Her error , again making us feel very uncomfortable. We did make a complaint and were give a round if drinks as an apology, hardly suitable for a situation that spoiled , what had been up to then,a lovely Family day out. 5 Star ? No , not in My opinion.

I had high expectations for the W Edinburgh, but the room design was one of the worst hotel layouts I have experienced. If you value privacy, this may not be the hotel for you. There is essentially no real separation between the bathroom and bedroom areas, making it very uncomfortable when sharing a room with a partner or family member. Even worse, the sinks are located directly next to the bed. If someone gets up in the middle of the night to use the bathroom, the motion-activated lights turn on automatically and illuminate the sleeping area, waking everyone else in the room. The design may look modern in photos, but it is incredibly impractical for actually staying there. A luxury hotel should prioritize comfort and functionality, and unfortunately this room failed on both counts. I would not stay here again and would strongly encourage future guests to carefully consider whether this lack of privacy and disruptive layout will work for them before booking

Great hotel in the centre of Edinburgh next to the St James shopping centre, best view in Edinburgh, nothing better than sitting looking over Arthur’s Seat & the chimney tops of Edinburgh having a few drinks, also the rooms are excellent & service fantastic Would fully recommend

Stayed at the W Edinburgh hotel for 2 nights it was amazing. Treated like royalty from we arrived. Reception staff were lovely and very welcoming. Room was lovely and nice view from the window. Bed was so comfortable and plenty of room in it. Breakfast was very nice and the staff were lovely. Could have stayed for another night definitely will be back again.
