W Edinburgh brings a modern, design-forward perspective to the city through three architecturally distinct buildings—Ribbon Building, James Craig Walk, and Quarter House—each offering its own style of accommodation and atmosphere. The dramatic Ribbon Building, inspired by the flowing curves of a ribbon, houses many of the hotel’s signature rooms and suites with sweeping skyline views and bold contemporary interiors. James Craig Walk offers a more classic Georgian-inspired setting with elegant details that connect to Edinburgh’s historic character, while Quarter House provides sleek, residential-style accommodations ideal for extended or more private stays. Across all three buildings, guests can enjoy stylish guest rooms with floor-to-ceiling windows, curated design details, and the brand’s signature Whatever/Whenever® service. The overall theme balances bold modern luxury with the cultural richness of Edinburgh, creating a stay that feels fashionable, immersive, and distinctly dynamic.
Dining, wellness, and location elevate the experience. The hotel is home to multiple destination dining and cocktail venues, including rooftop spaces with sweeping views across Edinburgh Castle, Calton Hill, and the city skyline. Guests can enjoy globally inspired cuisine, crafted cocktails, and lively social atmospheres throughout the property. Wellness offerings include spa and relaxation experiences designed to complement the hotel’s energetic pace.

My friend and I had lunch at the W Edinburgh 2 days ago. I found it to be a wonderful experience. Spectacular views over Edinburgh and very well trained staff.... ..in particular Oceane was very professional and extremely friendly. However the manager Edwardo was called as I wanted to pay cash. He was very cold, no courtesy or eye contact.and I didn't find him at all professional. I used to own a restaurant and your waiting staff got 10/10 from me. In my experience a business is only as good as the staff and Edwardo didn't leave a good impression with my friend and I.

I had been to W in Barcelona for cocktails so thought we would visit the one in Edinburgh. Great views all around the City and we had a perfect day to sit out on the roof top bar. Highly recommend! Cocktails around £15 and table service provided

I stayed here for three nights with my wife and two children. In general, it was a positive experience and we would stay here again. The good: the service upon arrival was really notable. They greeted us with fruity drinks, helping with bags, and helped me check into one of my rooms right away, despite arriving before official check in time. Our rooms were stylish and in good shape. Beds were a little soft for my taste but pretty luxurious. We used the gym a few times, it was relatively large, pretty well kept and not crowded. Concierge was very helpful, helped us pick out a perfect breakfast place. Location is good, right in the middle of everything. And hotel was responsive digitally when we asked questions and made arrangements before our visit. Could have been better: we requested adjoining rooms well in advance, and didn't get them, which I know isn't guaranteed but was still a bit of a bummer. We had rooms in the quarter house (I think) which once again were nice, but on the smaller side. Bathroom was also pretty tight. When traveling with kids with luggage for a longer trip, even with two rooms, it was a little cramped. Is this place 5 stars? Eh, maybe not quite. But certainly a nice place, well run, and a good stay for us,

I booked this hotel for a special occasion, my mother was celebrating her 80th birthday on the day of arrival. Having received a very nice email from Neve, a Whatever, Whenever agent, I responded by giving her some details of our visit and the special occasion. Two rooms were booked bearing in mind one was for my 80yr old mother, the rooms were not just not together, they were in separate buildings! There was a petit four in both rooms with a note recognising the birthday, however it was the same note in both rooms, both with the wrong name. Given I was very specific with the requests, I felt the W fell short. The rooms were nice enough but I've paid less in nicer hotels in Edinburgh.
