Pleasant Hotel, Nice Location

We had a couple of nights here as part of a larger visit to Canada. We turned up in a car to what we believed was the hotel gated car park and was able to enter after another car had left, it turns out this was the valet parking area and we were to use the multi storey next door, so wemoved the car, obviously a lack of clear instructions on this and again when leaving and not being given the code to get back in We interacted with the receiption staff and those on the valet desk, all were friendly and helpful, even if information provided wasn't always the best with limited local knowledge, with a trainee left on the desk by themselvesat times. The room was very large with twin double beds, although we would have preferred one king size double. There were lots of towels and robes available, yet not iron or ironing board, a large kettle which we thought was strange that it was used in the cupboard, glass cups, wine glasses that didn't match which wasa lack of attention to detail. While the was a fridge, it wasn't actually that cold, the heavy curtains on the window let light in from the edges and light came in through the gaps in the door, along with some considerable noise from the corridor, however very little from outside. It was a 20 minute drive from the hotel over to West Edmonton Mall. We have given it a 3 as we didn't feel it warranted a 4, yet it would be a 3.5 if Tripadvisor had that option.

This is a beautiful hotel-staff is very friendly & go out of their way to make sure your visit goes well. It is expensive but worth it. We had an excellent breakfast each morning & our waitress Michelle was great.

Incredible hotel

Incredible service, incredible hotel. We booked this on the way up to Yellowknife, and had planned to be back in Edmonton for a few days at a different hotel. However, this hotel was amazing, so we changed and stayed here on our return trip! The staff realized we had been prior customers, so they planned a nice welcome for us on our return. I cannot rave enough about this hotel and the staff and the service.

Complete package of full service!

Our stay at Fairmont Hotel Macdonald was the staycation we were looking for! Our anniversary and birthdays were the special occasions to excuse ourselves. Every moment was attentive and seamless. Valet, checkin, spa service, housekeeping, and the lounge service and of course the resident pup Hendricks all felt top notch. We thoroughly enjoyed the ease and beauty of our stay. Our little pup also was completely content with the attention he got and loved the doggy bed! Our room 615 had beautiful river view. I enjoyed strolling and immersing the rich history of the hotel. Also the river valley access to the trails via the funicular made for lovely walks.
