The Victorian-style Fairmont Hotel Macdonald stands high, overlooking The North Saskatchewan River Valley, and provides easy walking access to many of the lovely sites Edmonton, Canada has to offer. You may chose to dine alongside a backdrop of the stunning river valley view in their award-winning restaurant, The Harvest Room, or perhaps enjoy a drink in their Confederate Lounge.

The food was exceptional and everything was mostly good! My only big complaint that soured my experience for my birthday experience was with the server Aseno; she missed my cup specifically when she was taking coffee and went to another table. When me and my mother tried to get her attention she went to another table in front of me or straight up ignored us. When she did come by eventually with my coffee she did not serve more cream. Her kindess seemed forced rather than genuine and mostly ruined my experience and felt horrible as I have been going to Fairmont for my birthday mostly every year.

Not as nice as other Fairmont. As others have noted the building is cool and historic, but that’s the only good thing about it. Loud, unclean, careless employees. Stay away.

Noisy, dirty hotel in a bad neighborhood.

Enjoy the old architecture from a distance - inside it is old and dirty and the staff are not trained. The neighborhood is not safe - lot of homelessness and drug use. I used to live Fairmonts - this place might have ruined the brand for me.

We are unable to sleep due to the noise from the wedding reception and loud people stomping down the hallway. The wedding is apparently going until after midnight. I don’t understand why we were put on the same floor as the wedding party when we are not wedding guests and we have a small child who is trying to sleep. Also the neighborhood is terrible - I had to explain to our 9 year old why the man lying on the sidewalk across the street wasn’t moving (we actually called for medical assistance since he was obviously ODing). Also they ran out of towels by the pool and didn’t restock anything. I have lots of time to go through my mental list of things wrong since I won’t be sleeping anytime soon. Actually, funny fact, this is our wedding anniversary and we thought we would book a nice hotel to celebrate- haha, this is the last time I trust Fairmont with my special occasion. If you’re reading this - book somewhere else. I hope you have a better night sleep than I’m having.
