Stunning hotel in a great location. Book refurbished rooms only

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 days ago

A great week at this beautiful hotel. We booked a Junior Suite to avoid the older standard rooms (always check before you book!) and thought it was spacious, modern and perfect. Bathroom is huge! Sadly our AC didn’t work, maintenance tried but couldn’t fix it so they moved us to a suite which was super! Pool is lovely and warm, sea is clean and perfect for swimming. No issue with sun beds, even when the hotel was full however, people (the pool guys also) reserve all the good sea front spots pre-breakfast! That said, if you’re happy anywhere, you’ll get beds anytime. Breakfast was good and never too hectic even at peak time. We had half board but that only includes the small (but nice) buffet, so we ate out most nights because we prefer to eat in local villages than be stuck in a hotel with hotel restaurant prices. Il Borro Italian was a good restaurant- kids enjoyed it. They can fish too on the waterfront just next to the tables. If we came back we’d just do B&B as it’s a 12 EUR taxi to Elounda, or a little more to Plaka. We hired the water slides for 1 hour for 50 EUR which was great fun. Shame you couldn’t all access them anytime. It’s also a shame the kids club is charged, we like to pop in for the odd activity but it seems it’s a full day, half day I think. Lunch in the pool bar every day was delicious. Customer service in this hotel is wonderful, everyone is attentive. Would come back.

Amazing hotel, fantastic holiday all round!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

We had a wonderful family holiday at Porto Elounda. I really cannot understand why some of the recent reviewers didn't enjoy it. In my opinion, the hotel being so spread out is a good thing, as it never feels over-crowded. The pool and beach areas are second to none. Breakfast was very good but we've had more variety at other 5 star hotels. The staff were all very helpful without being overbearing. The room was pleasant and we slept well. Facilities on site such a tennis, padel and water sports kept us busy but we also found plenty of time to relax. The town of Elounda has great restaurants and we had some great day trips to other parts of the island. Highly recommend

Amazing Nancy and supervisor on shift

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 weeks ago

I just want to say a massive thank you to Nancy. We didn’t stay at the hotel but was meant to be visiting sumosan, there was a mess up with our reservation and Nancy was so so lovely and helpful. She was very easy to speak too and made us feel a lot better. She tried multiple times to get us into the restaurant and sort the problems out. Supervisor was also very very helpful and lonely to us. They then went out of there way to arrange a taxi for us into elounda and book us a reservation at another restaurant which was absolutely amazing. Amazing staff and we were so grateful.

Good for families

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 weeks ago

The resort views were pretty. Not a fan of the small pool and the walk to the water. Thankfully we had our own pool. There were a lot of young families. The rooms were very clean, the staff was great - it just wasn’t our favorite resort.

Perfect golf luxury resort

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 weeks ago

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ The perfect resort for golfers and families We’ve just had a fantastic stay at Porto Elounda Golf Resort & Spa and honestly couldn’t have asked for a better resort for our family. For us, the golf was a huge bonus. Having a 9-hole par 3 course literally on the doorstep was perfect. My husband and son really enjoyed playing it — it’s a surprisingly tricky little course and a great challenge! There’s also a small driving range in the shade, which was ideal for my son to practise, and a golf pro is available for lessons. We bought the unlimited golf pass, which we thought was really good value, although you can also pay for individual rounds. There was lots to keep the children entertained too. The water sports on the beach were a big hit, especially the sofa/doughnut being pulled along by the speedboat! Jet skis and other activities were available too. We were half board and were really impressed with the food. Dinner was in the buffet restaurant each evening, with plenty of choice and some food cooked fresh in front of you. It was mostly meat, fish and vegetables and, for us, there was just the right amount of choice without it being overwhelming. We actually enjoyed the buffet so much that we didn’t feel the need to eat elsewhere. We also hired the tennis courts, which were €40 for an hour, and there were always plenty of sun loungers available around the pool. We didn’t use the spa, so unfortunately can’t comment on that. The staff were a real highlight of the holiday. Everyone was so friendly and accommodating, but a special mention has to go to Raymund and the lifeguard around the pool, who were both fantastic. And the views… just beautiful! The setting really is stunning and made the holiday feel extra special. You can also use the sister hotels, including Elounda Mare, which is just a 3-minute boat transfer away and has à la carte restaurants. We didn’t actually feel the need to use them, though, as we were so happy with the buffet restaurant included with our half board. Overall, we absolutely loved our stay. If you’re a family who enjoys golf, this is a fantastic choice, but there’s also plenty to do if not everyone is a golfer. Beautiful views, lovely staff, great food, lots of activities and a really relaxed atmosphere. We would definitely come back! ⛳️☀️🇬🇷
