Disappointing Experience and Not Worth the Cost

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 day ago

I rarely write reviews, but I felt compelled to share my experience after staying here for one night. While the hotel itself is modern and clean, it falls short in multiple areas, especially considering the price point and the way it markets itself as a luxury destination. First, the fees are absurd 60 dollars a night. Parking is outrageously priced, and on top of that, I was charged a $60 “resort fee” for a single night, with no real resort amenities to justify it. There are no activities offered, and the fitness center is poorly equipped for a property claiming to be upscale. The location/view situation is extremely misleading. Instead of the beautiful ocean view you would expect, most rooms actually overlook a massive construction zone and the freeway. You literally get a better view outside in the parking lot than from your room, which defeats the purpose of staying at a so-called coastal resort. To make matters worse, the hotel charges insane prices at the bar—$22–$25 for a very average cocktail. No unique ingredients, nothing special, just overpriced drinks taking advantage of guests who are already overpaying. Overall, this hotel is trying to be something it’s not. If you’ve ever stayed at a true high-end property like L’Auberge or anything in that league, you will be very disappointed here. Between the outrageous fees, lack of amenities, poor value, and underwhelming experience, I would not return and do not recommend it.

A splurge for sure, room for improvement on aervice

Pros: Location is great. Nice views, pretty quiet. I stayed in a firepit room which was excellent and I’d highly recommend. Very clean room. Loved the room amenities. Spa was excellent. Jade did a fantastic job. Cons: $$$$, so expensive! Service at the pool was slow at times. Used Amex fine hotels and had a guaranteed 4pm checkout. I was asked if I’d need the late checkout and I said I’d probably be leaving around 2pm. At 1:45 I went to clean up after the pool and leave and found that my keys didn’t work, so I guess the late checkout didn’t go through. I had to go to the desk in my swim suit to get a new key, a bit embarrassing.

It’s a vibe and it was really clean. It was passed my expectations. I won this trip but, now I’ll return one day with my grandson. To go see the Padres play.

Don't waste your money , not worth all the hype

Dirty rooms, lackluster food. $60 valet parking plus a resort fee! Beautiful location but that is about all. Very busy with weddings and event and photo sessions taking place. Not a very peaceful trip.
