Alila Marea Beach Resort Encinitas

Beautiful location. The ocean views are stunning. What stood out the most is the service. Always greeted with a smile and a "yes" You can tell the employees all work as a team. You feel welcomed and like a valued guest.

Outstanding property with excellent views. Rooms are modern and well designed. Valet team is friendly and helpful. They provide complimentary e-bikes, surfboards which is a very nice touch. Vaga bar has great ocean views. Look forward to returning.

We started of on a bad note. We booked and ocean view room and got a room on the ground floor with absolutely no view. I changed the room. Now we got a pool view room. Once again we booked an ocean view room. Walking around the property now feeling like an entitled person, knowing I needed to change it a second time. I did notice that they are actually very few TRUE ocean view rooms. Only rooms on the 3 floor have a true ocean view. We changed it to an Coastal View room and could not have been more happy. The view was beautiful and it was vey quiet. Make sure you get a 3rd floor room. The beach access is easy, by stairs or a walk way that is accessible with a wheel chair. Towles, chairs, umbrella and water is provided for your beach stay. The hotel stuff is very professional and extremely friendly. Food is good, but pricy. During checkout I was charged for my service dog (true service dog, with proper papers). When I pointed it out I was told: We do charge for service dogs. It is against the law (ADA) to charge and the front desk agent should know this. He was actually the only employee with an attitude. When I pointed it out to him, he revised the charges. Maybe the front desk manager can train the stuff properly in regards to guests with disability's. I see many negative reviews on this hotel. Try it out, you will love it.

We booked this hotel and put 2 adults and 1 child (2 years old) in the reservation. Upon check-in we were informed of a “strict policy” that more than 2 people require a 2nd room booking. We had to cancel our entire reservation and rebook elsewhere. This should be noted as a very strange policy and great inconvenience for anyone traveling with a child. We were not explicitly informed upon reserving.

Will return to this place....it was quite and serene. Private beach access was the best for walks along the beach. Ocean view room was the highlight of this stay. The drinks at the Pool bar were excellent!
