Alila Marea Beach Resort Encinitas

This entire property was 11/10 outstanding. We were there for my 40th birthday and I can't imagine a better way to celebrate. I can't say enough good things about everything from the rooms to the food to the service. The small touches like only having rooms on the ocean side of the building, included amenities like ebike and surboard rentals, cold plunge and sauna at the pool, morning yoga... I could go on and on, but these things made the room price feel like a steal. Housekeeping is incredible at their jobs - our room was cleaner during our stay than most places are when you first check in. I'm picky about what constitutes "clean" and they were above and beyond. More than anything though, the service from nearly every single member of the staff was just top notch. Everyone was so eager to ensure we had a perfect experience. Patrick with the food and beverage team was especially outstanding, giving us great recommendations for meals both on and off property. He really helped us make the most of our stay and that was a big reason why we had the experience we did - thank you, Patrick! We are already planning our next trip back to the Alila. I can't recommend this property enough for a special occasion or just a stress-free getaway.

Amazing location, We love this resort. Its clean, very peaceful, and the staff is friendly. A must stay location With every room that has views for days! Highly recommend this location!

As a Globalist, the experience was a wonderful way to utilize my free Category 1-7 reward night. I wish I could have spent another night, but it may be difficult to justify the value if the stay was either paid in cash or with points versus a free reward night. That said, the entire staff was incredibly helpful, the decor was beautiful, and the complimentary yoga / e-bike / surf gear was a nice touch given the location to the beach.

Fabulous trip! Marty Anderson was always right around the corner to lend a helping hand! The Valet crew:Gus,Cooper, Victoria, Ricky, Chad were amazing we parked our RV Van and they were so accommodating!! Our server Lynn at breakfast at Vaga was so friendly!!

Great location, and super close to the beach. It was a perfect and romantic getaway to celebrate our anniversary. My favorite was the view of the beach. We got a coastal and lagoon view. At first I thought I wanted the ocean front but im glad we had the coast view bc the ocean front is right in front of the pool and im not particularly interested in sitting out and just watching people in the pool. I liked the other side and it was much more peaceful. We ate at the bar/lounge the first night we got there. Ordered the short rib lamb tacos and they were delicious. Breakfast is also good. Dinner was a little disappointing. We ordered the $75 steak which sat on tomato sauce and just not that much flavor on the actual steak. Also ordered the fish and that lacked flavor as well. Shrimp appetizer, broccolini and beet salad are a must. Pool was nice, but beware of the nice cabanas and cushioned lounges which cost $200-500. So dumb. Am I in Vegas? NO ONE sat there. Such a waste of space. Overall it was a nice stay…$650 a night worth, I don’t think so. The hallways and elevators look like they need an upgrade. The hallways smell. I was a bit shocked that they looked and smelled that way for a “luxury” hotel. I’ve stayed in much nicer places for less.
