Disappointing hotel

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 weeks ago

Hotel is very nice and at a great location. Vaga bar served good drinks but avoid breakfast at Vaga. Wait time for food was so long and lacked flavor. Disappointing for a Hyatt Category 7 hotel. Next time I’m in Encinitas, I’ll stay at Park Hyatt Aviara.

"Calm your spirit in a tranquil sanctuary"? HA!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 weeks ago

Beware of websites claiming this property is Adults Only. It is NOT. And the resort staff does not monitor the premises for breaches of their posted rules (ex. no excessive noise, no unsupervised kids, no smoking). It will be up to you to call and complain, which is no fun. Resort becomes a party house on the weekends with drunks outside keeping us awake until 1-2am in the morning. Someone set off the fire alarm at 1:15am on Saturday night because they were smoking weed in their room. So much for "calming your spirit in a tranquil sanctuary" as they advertise on the home page of their website. Otherwise it is a gorgeous property with very friendly and obliging staff. It's a shame the atmosphere isn't matched by the behavior of guests—or the management’s efforts to uphold standards.

Beautiful but not as advertised

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 weeks ago

The hotel was beautiful and in a good yet secluded area. When I booked, the resort said that it was adults only. I never got a notification that they had changed it back to allowing children. That being said, there were kids everywhere. When you book a hotel that advertises itself as peaceful yet you have to listen to screaming kids who are running around while you’re eating dinner and babies crying at an “adults only resort” it’s not very peaceful. The pool area is also too small to fit the amount of guests that stay. I was unable to find pool chairs or fit in the hot tub any of the days that I stayed. The valet people were amazing and would drop me off downtown whenever I needed. Marty (from maintenance) was very helpful when planning things to do. The waitresses at the restaurant were awesome and remembered my name when I would come for dinner. Some of the other staff could be standoffish and kinda rude. Overall, it was a decent stay, but I would not pay $500-$600 a night to stay again.

Wonderful stay

The bathroom shower with eucalyptus was an amazing touch and much appreciated. If you can get the room with a fire pit it’s wonderful. But if not they still have a great area by the bar that has fire pits and great views! Overall great place to stay!!

College party frat house hotel

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

The people that stay here are mostly young drinkers that have zero class. People screaming at the pool after 1030 pm, people smoking cigarettes and stank weed on their balcony with the smoke coming in your room, non-guest beach bums coming into the pool area and using the sauna and hot tub, screaming kids all day until 9pm even though its advertised as an adults only hotel, drunk people having sex in the hallway at 6pm, fire alarm went off at 130am and we had to evacuate the building because a young girl was smoking pot in her room. I asked at the front desk and they said Oh, yeah, it's like this all the time. Wish I knew that and I never would have stayed here. You have been warned.
