Reviews for Alila Marea Beach Resort Encinitas

Anti-children

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 6 days ago

We booked this hotel and put 2 adults and 1 child (2 years old) in the reservation. Upon check-in we were informed of a “strict policy” that more than 2 people require a 2nd room booking. We had to cancel our entire reservation and rebook elsewhere. This should be noted as a very strange policy and great inconvenience for anyone traveling with a child. We were not explicitly informed upon reserving.

Best R & R location

Will return to this place....it was quite and serene. Private beach access was the best for walks along the beach. Ocean view room was the highlight of this stay. The drinks at the Pool bar were excellent!

A pleasant first time stay in a hotel we have looked at for years

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

We used to have a vacation home about 5 miles away from this hotel And we watched it being built firm the dirt up. In spite of the initial problem, I had to give this hotel an excellent rating, based upon the pleasantness of the overall experience and perhaps especially because of front desk manager, Matt M. Matt called us on our trip down and informed us that the suite that we had reserved was flooded out, and that we would be downgraded to a standard room for the first night but then upgraded after that. now we were supposed to be three nights at this hotel and then three nights at another hotel where we knew we had to switch rooms after the second night Because of travelling with a category one to 7 Hyatt free night. So the idea of having to have four different rooms in a 6 night stay was not very appealing. When we got to the hotel, Matt met us at the cheque in desk and seemed very genuine and very concerned about the situation. We lived through the first night and was upgraded to a tremendously good suite for the following two nights. We loved everything about the hotel. The restaurant was excellent, the hotel had so many areas to sit and look out at the ocean And everybody at the hotel was very pleasant. The pool was very nice, but the beach was very rocky. In general just liked the vibe of the hotel And we'll stay there again and again.

Relaxing Coastal Getaway with Spa Perks and Ocean Views

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

We enjoyed a relaxing one-night family stay in a Two Queen Bed Coastline View room with a balcony at the Alila Marea. This was prior to the hotel’s new two-person room occupancy policy, so we stayed as a family of four. The service throughout was excellent—valet was smooth, check-in was quick, and the room felt spacious and comfortable. The coastal view was beautiful, and we especially loved our sunset stroll along the beach. As Hyatt Globalists, we took advantage of the complimentary breakfast benefit at VAGA. While the menu was limited, it was still a welcome perk and perfectly enjoyable. One of us also tried a complimentary session at the Revival Lounge at Spa Alila. Some of the amenities—like the Therabody Zero Gravity Chair, Compression Boots, and SmartGoggles eye and temple massage—were unique and interesting to try. Overall, a peaceful and well-run property with stunning views—perfect for a quick escape.

I got athlete's foot from the Shower. I live alone, so no one uses my shower but me. I gave a lot of low marks because of this 22% Service fee that was not disclosed when dining or room service. I got the double Bill Fixed but had to call a few times to do it.
