In the beautiful coastal foothills of San Diego, La Costa Resort and Spa is a destination in itself, spectacularly showcasing the best in accommodation, amenities, golf, and recreation in Southern California. Its Carlsbad address makes the resort easily accessible from San Diego or La Jolla, and a simple two-hour drive from Los Angeles. Starting with its accommodations, La Costa Resort and Spa exceeds the standard of luxury, offering guests a lush ambiance, spacious layouts, richly appointed furnishings, and oversize marble spa showers. Take in views of the courtyard, gardens, or fairways from your private terrace, accessed through window-paneled doors that let the sunshine in and bring the comfort right outdoors. Spend some time exploring the grounds of this magnificent property when you arrive, walking its floral-lined pathways, gazing over its verdant greens, and discovering the many facilities - from The Plaza Shops to the Chopra Center for yoga and meditation, and the multiple shimmering outdoor pools.

Nice grounds but average stay. We stayed in a Deluxe Villa, 1 Bedroom Studio, which featured a king-sized bed and a small kitchenette. The suite was beautifully designed and clean, offering a comfortable space for our family. The Omni La Costa is a beautiful property with immaculate grounds and plenty of space for kids to run around, making it a great family resort. The kids’ pools and various programs like arcades and kids’ activities kept our children happily entertained throughout our stay. However, the resort’s proximity to the freeway was a significant drawback the noise was constant and loud, which meant we couldn’t open our doors to enjoy the brilliant Californian weather or the pool views. Unfortunately, some operational aspects felt underwhelming, with much of the service seemingly run by inexperienced teenage staff. For example, a burger we ordered poolside was disappointing and did not meet the quality one would expect at this level of resort. (We would have expected more from McDonalds) The resort fees and parking costs also felt steep for what was offered, with fewer dining and recreational options than anticipated. While there is a steakhouse and VUE (the main restaurant offering a modern Mexican twist), having a third dining option closer to the main areas would improve the overall experience. We initially encountered a bathroom flood caused by the air-conditioning, and though the staff came to fix it, follow-ups were slow, and the AC remained uncomfortably cold, forcing us to move rooms. We waited for the next maintenance crew to run up but they never did, we had to follow up. The room change was handled professionally, and the second suite maintained the same high standards of design and cleanliness. On the bright side, dining at VUE for dinner and breakfast was a highlight, with high-quality food and an interesting menu, albeit on the pricey side. The restaurant staff were among the more experienced and professional team members we encountered. Overall, the Omni La Costa offers a beautiful family-friendly environment with good kids’ activities but is let down by freeway noise, some operational inefficiencies, and limited dining options. We’d recommend it primarily for families with children but advise managing expectations regarding noise and service.

We had a fantastic time at this resort! Ramiro at the Bar Traza was exceptionally great and really made our day! This resort has some of the best staff I’ve ever experienced

This was our 4th visit to Omni and we continue to be disappointed. After dropping 10k, this is not a 5-star experience! Rooms and Villas are privately owned and lack consistency. You never know what you are getting in modernization, cleanliness and service. We booked in February and when we arrived late in the evening, we were placed in an outdated room smelling of mold which ironically, we were placed in last time. So returned to the front desk and asked for a different room. The floor room although updated also suffered from HVAC issues. Moldy and my husband woke with asthma as he’s highly allergic. Insanity - They placed us in a floor level updated room without a kitchen and said to call in the morning to source a villa. The valet staff were most helpful in pointing out . The purpose for requiring a kitchen is that I wanted to help cook for our kids who just had a newborn. - No such luck. Listed as a gourmet kitchen - but lacking basics - potholder, stove too old to read dials, microwave is above your head - so God forbid you boil water. No towel racks in bathroom. The makeup vanity light is dim at best and they did bring a new one to the room. (Shouldn’t this be managed?) Hair dryer doesn’t have a diffuser which is also dated. Borrowed one from my family. The awkward “bar” in the middle of the kitchen is useless. Storage containers? Ice was in the freezer for who knows how long - Service is inconsistent at best. One day you receive wash clothes and garbage bags for your trash and other days, you don’t. Stopped tipping staff because it is so fragmented. Water delivered by one individual, soap by another and so on. Staff is friendly but no more tipping from us. Kudos to the Restaurant staff who are well trained in the hotel. Pool staff is poor in their service and although we asked for trays to be picked up because crows were attacking adjacent to us, the server said they would call a busser rather than saying I’ll take care of that right away. In the interim, we had o pick up other people’s garbage. While a staff member wrote an apology note, we will not return until they get their act together. Or if you stay - keep it a 3 days or less! Its a shame because the property is pretty special, but it is how you treat your customer to make them feel as if they are valued as a customer with the level of service.

We were visiting the Omni La Costa resort for a business event and had dinner at bar Troza. Ramiro was our server and made the whole evening and meal such a great experience. The churros were fantastic and here’s a tip, add some ice cream on the side!

Ramiro was an excellent server, efficient and friendly! We only had drinks but the service was top notch! He was prompt and professional, drinks were what was expected and we hope to be back soon. Next time hope to enjoy some meals. Thanks for the great experience!

Used the Edge adult pool for the first time. This really made the trip. I loved the view, the seating, the pool and the number of jacuzzis.
