Reviews for Omni La Costa Resort and Spa

Theft

I checked into my hotel and was given a ground floor room with a back patio. That evening when I returned to my room around 9 pm, the back patio glass doors were wide open and someone had come into my room and stolen all the money out of my wallet. I let hotel security know and they said they would perform an investigation and alert their insurance carrier about the money that was stolen. Did not hear much else from the hotel. When the hotel’s insurance carrier called me, she said that the theft was my fault because I did not ensure the back patio doors were locked. She said that is not the hotel’s responsibility, it’s the customer’s (mine). She was quite rude and pretty much blamed me for the incident. I attempted to follow up with the hotel to see if they could do anything for me and they will not return my calls. I spoke to a friend that was staying at the hotel the same time as I was, and their patio door was unlocked as well, but they did check and locked it upon arrival. Clearly something was going on where former guests were leaving the back door open, or housekeepers. Bottom line is the hotel did nothing, didn’t offer a free night, dinner voucher, zero. I would not stay here and if you do, make sure you’re not on the bottom floor of any of the buildings.

This is a conference hotel - not good for family

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 17 hours ago

This is a conference hotel and not a good hotel for a family to spend the weekend. I took my family here recently and it was a terrible experience. Velvet lost my car key the second day I was there. However the whole time we felt very not welcomed as there was "an event going on" which we were constantly reminded of. I couldn't play golf because one of the golf courses were closed - yet I looked at an empty course for half the day. I talked to the pro shop and they don't hold any times for resort guest the best they could do was a 5:30pm round. The biggest issues were with security. We have problems getting back into the hotel after we left multiple times because there was an event. The first time they did not even have my name / room number listed right and even after I showed them my confirmation they still wouldn't let me in! This took 15 mins and then told the guy to have the head of security meet me at velvet because it was ridiculous. The next day the same thing happened again. I had a crying baby in the backseat and they wouldn't let me in the second entrance next to self parking because of an event. This is not good for a family trying to have a relaxing weekend, it's too must hassling because of their events.

Loved the Omni!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 18 hours ago

This was my first stay at Omni. From the moment we drove into the property, I was impressed by the beauty of the grounds. It is gorgeous. My room was beatutiful, clean and spacious. When I had a minor issue with the shower, staff came immediately and fixed it. I ate at all 3 restaurants, and they were delcious. All the staff were friendly, kind and helpful. I give the Omni 10/10 stars, and would definately stay there again.

Nice grounds- rooms far from activities

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

The hotel grounds are lovely a the room I was in was large and pleasant. Despite having multiple pools none are suitable for lap swimming. Also the second floor rooms have no elevator for luggage and there are several stairs to maneuver walking from the lobby to the rooms. Despite asking for one of the newer rooms and being situated closer to the lobby I was placed on probably the farthest room away (about 7 minute walk) in section 500 and in a nice but not new room. Not sure what the architects were thinking when they renovated and didn’t put a few curb cuts and a lap pool. Also location is far from most things.

Legendary hotel that always delivers a great experience! Tons to do on the property for both adults and kids. Our 6 year old daughter is obsessed with the kids club!

Used the Edge adult pool for the first time. This really made the trip. I loved the view, the seating, the pool and the number of jacuzzis.
