In the beautiful coastal foothills of San Diego, La Costa Resort and Spa is a destination in itself, spectacularly showcasing the best in accommodation, amenities, golf, and recreation in Southern California. Its Carlsbad address makes the resort easily accessible from San Diego or La Jolla, and a simple two-hour drive from Los Angeles. Starting with its accommodations, La Costa Resort and Spa exceeds the standard of luxury, offering guests a lush ambiance, spacious layouts, richly appointed furnishings, and oversize marble spa showers. Take in views of the courtyard, gardens, or fairways from your private terrace, accessed through window-paneled doors that let the sunshine in and bring the comfort right outdoors. Spend some time exploring the grounds of this magnificent property when you arrive, walking its floral-lined pathways, gazing over its verdant greens, and discovering the many facilities - from The Plaza Shops to the Chopra Center for yoga and meditation, and the multiple shimmering outdoor pools.

The property and service was absolutely amazing except for one thing. The adult pool. We went to the adult pool (which had amazing views) and there was NO pool service whatsoever. There were no servers, no water, no cocktails, no food, no bartender (at the bar that was clearly there but left abandon).. etc. There were 30-40 guests there all with NO service. We all had to go to the marketplace to get food/water/wine/beer (weird!!). Not sure as to why there was this HUGe service miss; since the rest of the experience was top notch.

Overall a nice trip to the property. Stayed 5 nights, and did the PGA package. Staff is amazing, one of the best. They made every interaction fun and enjoyable. Not a new property, but very well maintained and beautifully landscaped. The food is pretty consistent with such a place - very good, not off the charts. We ate on campus 4 nights - all at Bob's and enjoyed all the meals. Rooms are very nice, but a bit dated. Everything works really well. They are clearly well-maintained and looked after. We played the North course twice and the South course once. If you book the PGA package, be aware that they flip access to courses for the guests every other day. Make sure you understand which days you have access to which course, because the South course is pretty below average (understatement). Also, they might be able to sneak you onto the North course on "off" days, but be wary of the late tee time and at what time the sun sets. We didn't finish one of our rounds due to the darkness. Finally, and I hate to write this, but our bed was pretty awful. Soft, shook a lot when anyone moved. Tough sleeping. Hopefully we just got a bad one, but be aware...

Just a quick weekend to visit Lego land with the family. Found myself wishing I brought my golf clubs- it’s tough to stare at a beautiful course for a few days without playing. Rooms were comfortable but not overly design forward. Grounds were very enjoyable, family friendly.

While the resort grounds were beautiful and well maintained, unfortunately room housekeeping was abysmal. We stayed in a mini suite for six days and other than tucking in the same sheets, replacing a couple towels NOTHING was done. We leave a very tidy, uncluttered room and it was obvious that when housekeeping finally came after 4 pm , counters and tabletops were untouched. Vacuuming was never done. A plastic fork was purposely left in front of the table on the fly and it stayed all week. We found multiple used contacts and old beer bottles on the surfaces that had come from previous stays. Just unacceptable.

I am old enough to remember when La Costa was a destination for the rich and famous. It is no longer that but it is a pleasant experience for a vacation, particularly for families. The rooms have been renovated but are still older. The public areas are all very nice. The room prices are reasonable. Food and beverage service was very good. If you care about the condition of the golf course, don’t sign up to play unless you walk the course. I was shocked by the condition of the course. The pricing is ridiculous. After I complained about the condition, they adjusted my fee but it should have been reduced to zero.

Used the Edge adult pool for the first time. This really made the trip. I loved the view, the seating, the pool and the number of jacuzzis.
