About the Hotel

Located off the west coast of Scotland is a private 300-acre retreat called Isle of Eriska Hotel, Spa & Golf. Built as a home in 1884 in the Scottish Barional style, this singular hotel on the island houses just 50 guests and is steeped in history. While the building has had a succession of owners and enhancements over the course of its lifetime, it has changed very little with age. The rooms are capsules of luxury adorned with tasteful appointments and regal bursts of color. In the main house, a former billiard room and courtyard have transitioned into a pair of spacious bedrooms, while the addition of a conservatory has enhanced the overall ambiance. A nearby annex is surrounded by lush foliage and features spa suites as well as two-bedroom cottage suites offering some serious seclusion with private gardens and bubbling hot tubs.

exceptionally good

Absolutely top hotel. We enjoyed it from start to finish. This hotel more than exceeded our (high) expectations. The welcome, friendliness, and helpfulness of the staff were a wonderful experience. Our lodge ("Rowan") was equipped with every comfort and decorated in true British (Scottish) style, perfectly matching the decor of the main building. The food was high quality, both breakfast and dinner. This hotel is a true discovery, and we will definitely return.

Such a shame

Amazing location on its own island but the value for money equation is way off - there is limited or no Scottish hospitality, the 85 pounds per head dinner for 3 courses is a joke - more like tapas dishes at best - such a shame for an amazing place

The excellence of Eriska!

This is a truly amazing place... It is like staying with friends at their wonderful Scottish country house. Warm, welcoming, and beautifully maintained. The staff was terrific.. the meals were top notch, and our room was magical. Take the time to walk around the island, and meet Sir Loin and his buddies!

Stunning hotel and grounds - not dog friendly

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

Stunning hotel and island! We stayed for 2 nights in August 2025 as part of our honeymoon. When we booked this hotel, we checked if they were dog friendly, to which they said they were, however on arrival it felt very much like dogs were not particularly welcome. We were strongly encouraged to leave our dog in the room, which I was not comfortable with, nor did I want to do as we brought her with us for a reason - to enjoy together! They’re not allowed in most of the rooms within the hotel and we were only able to dine in the conservatory, which was fine, however we were not able to chose any other food other than the 6 course meal option, which was particularly expensive. We then opted to go to the local town of Oban on our 2nd night so we could eat something different. This was disappointing given the price of the stay, it also didn’t seem to make a great deal of sense as it should not matter which food you eat so long as you’re separate from other guests who may not like having a dog around. Overall I feel Eriska should have a no dog policy all together as their current policy doesn’t actually make sense when read. It makes it rather uncomfortable when you arrive to be rather discouraged from being in any of the hotel rooms. This being said, the island and scenery was phenomenal! We saw owls, deer, Highland cows, horses, toads etc! The night sky was like nothing I’ve ever seen before, crystal clear and beautiful stars! Stunning walks and fantastic culinary experience. We walked the whole island which was brilliant. I would come back here, however if you’re thinking of bringing your dog along, I’d possibly reconsider or ensure you have a table reserved if you’d like your dog to dine with you.
