About the Hotel

Located in the heart of northern Morocco(TM)s city of Fez, the charming La Maison Bleue is the essence of traditional Moroccan hospitality. This private 1915 retreat, whose Andalucian-style guestrooms Fodor(TM)s calls oemouthwatering,” leans towards the exotically ornate. You(TM)ll feel as though you've stepped back in time as you pass into a sumptuous atrium decorated with elaborate carved doors, walls covered in brilliant mosaics, and antique stained glass windows. You(TM)ll also enjoy privileges at the inn(TM)s nearby sister property, the 19th-century Riad Maison Bleue.

Gorgeous and gracious Riyad

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

We were eight of us touring Morocco and I have no hesitation in saying that this property was one of the MOST GORGEOUS riyads I have ever stayed in. This despite the fact that the stairs almost defeated me the first time I clapped eyes on them. Yet, surprisingly, it got better...and then, I almost did not notice the narrowness or the steepness. I understand the building dates from 1915...it is over a hundred years old but age sits lightly on it. We stayed here for two nights but I could have stayed longer. The rooms were delightful; the bathrooms were almost studio apartments and most delightfully arranged with steps leading up to the bath. And there were rose petals, not only on the bed, but in the toilet bowl too !!! Almost hesitated to poo on petals :) I had never experienced such a wonderfully designed bath..what a shame there was only time for showers. All modern amenities were provided. My Room was KHADIJA and it had a shared terrace...since we also had the room that shared the terrace it was as good as our own. It was so relaxing to sit there with a cup of instant coffee brewed in the room munching the cookies from our welcome basket. Dawns break better I think under such surroundings. To add the golden sprinkles on my experience I observed a ecouple from close range from the terrace. KHADIJA has stained glass windows and waking up to the coloured reflections on the wall is something to remember. I could write an essay on the decor and the live music (not overwhelming-just a single person with a stringed instrument ) but I suggest you see it for yourself. The breakfast on the first day was so lavish that we literally begged them not to put so much food on the table the next morning-they laughed. I got the impression, they get this often from guests. The staff was extremely polite, very accomodating ...nothing was too much trouble and milk requested for coffee was NOT CHARGED (unlike at Marrakesh). They gave us so much that we kept it in the fridge in the room and did not have to ask again. The location is graet ..a minute's walk to the Souk and just adjacent is a great cafe cum dinner spot with good food. You cannot park for any length of time in front of the riyad but the driver will aprk long enough for you to comfortably get in and out with luggage. Bottom line: In my top ten Best places I have stayed. The old world charm is undeniable and irresistible.

Charming riad, attentive and friendly service

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed March 23, 2023

My husband and I stayed at La Maison Blue for 2 nights during our recent visit to Fes. The staff could not have been more helpful and accommodating, beginning with the front desk clerk running down the street to flag down our lost taxi driver and guide him back to the hotel entrance. We stayed in a lovely room at the top of a confusing labyrinth of hallways and staircases, and were very grateful for the enthusiastic help in getting our bags to the room. The room was lovely, decorated with mosaic tile, dark woods, and rich upholstery. We had access to the rooftop balcony, as well as numerous windows that filled the room with light during the day. The bed was hard as a rock, but we still slept well. The breakfast was sumptuous, and was presented with the kindness and graciousness that I believe is characteristic of this hotel. The staff just couldn't do enough for us. Its location right outside the medina is also to its advantage. It was only a few steps away from the hustle and bustle we came for, but also a welcome retreat at day's end. I highly recommend this riad for an authentic Moroccan experience.

Hidden Gem in Fez

Such a find inside the Fez Medina. It is a special Riad with various floors and nooks. The rooms are incredibly well sound-proofed. The one dinner we ate was excellent. The service was terrific. Great location.

Beautiful Riad close to Blue Gate

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed October 10, 2022

We stayed for two nights in this beautiful Riad which is a three minute walk away from The Blue Gate and right at the entrance to the medina. To my surprise the rooms were very quiet. The rooms make you feel like sleeping in a palace from the tales of Scheherazade. Extremely friendly and welcoming staff. Thank you very much!
