Traditional Riad in the Fez Medina

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 weeks ago

We enjoyed the stay in the Palais Amani Riad, it was a tranquil environment within a very busy Medina in Fez. The Riad is a traditional design with the accommodation surrounding a courtyard filled with orange trees, the trees were full of oranges when we stayed. The location was central for visiting the most important sites within the Medina, although if you are navigating the Medina without a guide, good luck! But we managed our own explorations without getting lost too many times. We recommend the Palais Amani for a traditional, comfortable and friendly stay in a perfect location.

Superb Stay in Lovely Riad

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 weeks ago

The Palais Amani is a gorgeous boutique riad in the medina of Fez. It is a beautifully restored mansion with a central courtyard garden/restaurant. Our room was large, comfortable, and opened onto this courtyard. The service was impeccable in every respect, and we appreciated the extra little touches such as evening chocolates and sweet pastries in-room. We also thoroughly enjoyed the open rooftop terrace bar with its views of the surrounding environs. We highly recommend this accommodation.

Expensive drinks, slow service.

We made the trek down to the tanneries and we're struck by not only the stench of the chemicals but also by the increasingly aggressive tactics of the "guides" attempting to swindle you with bad directions. We thought the Amani would be a nice escape. The building itself was nice but the service was painfully slow and our Negroni's were about half the pour you would expect in a cocktail, even if only 120Dhm. They also tried to tack on a 10 percent service fee for a table of two. There are many other nicer areas to shop and eat in the medina.... it's not worth the trip here.

A beautiful oasis in the middle of Fez

So glad we found Palais Amani -- it saved our trip to Fez. We actually moved here after foolishly booking at the Palais Ommeyad up the hill (avoid that place). Amani had beautiful rooms, a lovely hammam, wonderful breakfasts, and attentive kind staff. Highly recommended.

Nice Place but bed could be better

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

We stayed here on our 12 day couples trip to Morocco. I would recommend it with the one caveat that the beds are not the most comfortable. Service was good though. Overall pretty decent.
