A stunning Riad in Fes old Medina district

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 weeks ago

We were upgraded to a suite,, Misriah 1, so did not see the standard room we had booked so can only note the room allocated. Cars park in an area about 100m from the Riad and then the hotel sends someone to bring you and your luggage as cars cannot get through the narrow streets. Lovely room up a flight of steep stairs. It was over the street below so noisy until about 10pm and then quiet until about 8am. Sometimes cigarette smoke came from the street below. Fresh water was provided each day along with tea, coffee (Nespresso pods) and fresh fruit. The room was cleaned and made up daily. Lovely mosaic floor and wall tiles. Rooms are around a beautiful courtyard with trees and fountains. The room had a lovely lounging area and a beautiful bathroom with walk in shower. We slept well as the mattress was comfortable (not too hard or too soft). A TV is available in the room but it did not work. However, we did not have time to use it so it did not bother us. There is a dining room where breakfast is served to your table, freshly made breads, pancakes, yoghurt and orange juice, coffee and eggs. There is a bar/lounge. Abdul was an amazing barman and host. On the roof was a terrace area overlooking the courtyard. We did not use it due to the time of year and weather. On a walk around, it looked fabulous with relaxing chairs and options for outdoor dining. There was also a cookery school area set up. We only had Palais Amani on a B & B basis, so did try the food on several nights. However, one of the party was vegetarian so there were limited options. The staff recommended a local Riad/restaurant and organised someone to take us there and bring us back due to the maze of streets and safety. Recommendations were spot on! There were some options on the menu but it was not clear how much each item would be. The serving/waiting staff were not clear either so it may be helpful to use something like: 2 courses 450DHS or 3 courses 650 DHS etc. We were at Palais Amani for Christmas and it was celebrated with henna for the ladies, live music and a special menu. The Palais Amani organised local tour to Ifrane and walking tour. We loved the Palais Amani and would wholeheartedly recommend it for anyone staying in Fes.

incredible service, beautiful place to stay - 10/10

What a welcoming stay to start our trip to Morocco! Communication was great from start to finish and they were helpful in arranging a half-day tour for us, and we also did the henna party on our first night which was wonderful. The service is impeccable and every person we encountered was helpful and kind. Our family room (M2) was perfect for the 4 of us and really beautiful - lots of steps to access but there's an elevator if needed. The food in the Eden restaurant was delicious, including very generous breakfast portions. Highly recommend.

Lovely hotel, great location, authentic luxury experience

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

The setting is lovely and a true respite from the maze of Fes. Rooms are comfortable but small, filled with original, restored touches like antique tiling and stained glass windows. Breakfasts were a treat. Wonderful eggs on request and some of the tastiest yogurt any of us had ever eaten. The Moroccan specialties at breakfast were a bit of an acquired taste, but I enjoyed trying them. They were certainly well prepared. Location in the Medina was great for touring. Just as everyone else says: Expect to get lost! We did the hammam and massage one day. It was very relaxing and worth doing. It wasn't the best massage I've ever had (my partner enjoyed his, though), but the hammam experience is worth the price of admission. Book early. Temperature control in the room was a bit funky but in December the stuffy heat in the room was easily solved by opening a window.

Traditional Riad in the Fez Medina

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 months ago

We enjoyed the stay in the Palais Amani Riad, it was a tranquil environment within a very busy Medina in Fez. The Riad is a traditional design with the accommodation surrounding a courtyard filled with orange trees, the trees were full of oranges when we stayed. The location was central for visiting the most important sites within the Medina, although if you are navigating the Medina without a guide, good luck! But we managed our own explorations without getting lost too many times. We recommend the Palais Amani for a traditional, comfortable and friendly stay in a perfect location.

Superb Stay in Lovely Riad

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 months ago

The Palais Amani is a gorgeous boutique riad in the medina of Fez. It is a beautifully restored mansion with a central courtyard garden/restaurant. Our room was large, comfortable, and opened onto this courtyard. The service was impeccable in every respect, and we appreciated the extra little touches such as evening chocolates and sweet pastries in-room. We also thoroughly enjoyed the open rooftop terrace bar with its views of the surrounding environs. We highly recommend this accommodation.
