Great Location, but don't feel it's a 5 Star hotel

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

Traveled to Italy as part of a land tour package with Tauck. This was the second hotel of our tour. The bar was set very high with our first hotel in Venice, the Hotel Gabrielli, so we had great expectations. The Bernini hotel was much more old fashioned and dated, but was beautiful in an old-world elegant style. The rooms were quite small but very nicely decorated. Several in our tour group reported excessive street level noice in their room at night, but we did not experience that. The lobby bar was nice and the service was attentive. The breakfast buffet was just OK....nothing spectacular. The hotel is in a fantastic location with easy walking distance to all noteworthy sites. The service at the bar was very good, but overall the concierge staff did not seem as attentive as expected for a 5 star hotel. Interesting note....the elevators shut very quickly and appear to not have motion sensors when people are entering or leaving. Multiple times, the elevators nearly shut on us while getting on and off. It was a little scary. Overall, I just did not feel this hotel lived up to a 5 Star rating.

Perfection from beginning to end!

Exceptional experience. Stunning interior, luxurious room. Perfect location, we came to think of Piazza di Firenze as “la nostra piazza”. Accommodating staff focused on ensuring every convenience. It was my birthday, they sent us champagne. Friendly and welcoming place. I will tell anyone who is coming to Florence to stay here. If I return, I won’t even look for another place, we loved it!

Great Location, but not worthy of 5 star rating

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 weeks ago

Positives: Great location, within minutes of all main attractions. Our room was very comfortable, bed was great. Also, very clean. Lobby bar was good, open at all convenient hours. Negatives: Hotel had a breakfast buffet which was just okay. Typical 4 srar hotel quality. The restaurant was really poor, staff were absent, unless you went looking for them. When we were served, food was average. The restaurant was empty most of the time. The concierge staff were mainly not interested in providing accurate information, I was told to locate a store selling basic batteries, after walking ten minutes, I found the store was closed on weekends. When I told the reception they just shrugged, no apology. Generally the reception staff were uninterested. Overall, I was expecting more, based on the high cost of the room.

Fabulous hotel, great location and amazing staff

This is an outstanding hotel which is very centrally located for many sightseeing attractions. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. We stayed 4 nights and the breakfast room was absolutely beautiful with a great buffet choice. We would definitely recommend this hotel.
