Reviews for Brunelleschi Hotel

Discrete luxurious base in the historical centre of Florence.

Just a wonderful experience. I enjoy my stays as everyone is so friendly and helpful. The location is perfect for all the main attractions which are a few minutes walk away. The hotel is also steeped in history so take time to investigate before stepping out. I found the hotel quiet and had no difficulty sleeping despite the central location. Being able to open the windows in the early morning and only hear the bells from Giotto’s bell tower is simply amazing. How many have heard those bells over the years? The housekeeping staff keep everything spotless the team is very diligent. Treat yourself to dinner in the Osteria Pagliazza, which is on the ground floor. Firstly I must mention they mix the best traditional Negroni I have ever tasted. Everything I tried was delicious, even the olive oil which was poured out to dip the selection of traditional bread into was rich and nutty. The waiting staff take time to explain every dish which was cooked to order. Leave some room to try the homemade gelato, the strawberry is so full of flavour. I will hopefully be returning soon.

Best location, and steeped in history

My wife and I, in town to see the historic Fra Angelico exhibitions before they closed at the end of January, chose this hotel because of its location, a couple of blocks from the cathedral, but off a quiet piazza with not a lot of tourists streaming by. The service by every staffer was outstanding (apart from the hotel electrician): the room was great, despite a thermostat that only appeared to be adjustable. Its range was only 20-23C/68-73.4 F, and despite repeated reduction to 20C, the thermostat consistently crept up to its preferred 23C. The first night, we had to open a window to be able to sleep comfortably -- I could never be certain that the heat would stay off. The front desk staffer immediately called the electrician, who, I believe, wrote us off as annoying tourists -- he told the front desk clerk that the thermostat couldn't possibly be changing on its own. Well, that was the only sour note during our three-night stay. Given the many reasonably-priced restaurants nearby, we never partook of the two-starred Michelin restaurant, Santa Elisabeta, both because of its prices: Ala Carte appetizers E60-70, pastas E55, mains E60-70; tasting menu: E235-285 per person!, and because its menus do NOT list allergens -- unlike every other restaurant we ate at in Italy. The sample menu says "If you want to know about our ingredients, then please speak to our staff before you order." That's just not good enough for someone like me, who has a severe gluten allergy, hasn't eaten meat for 30 years, and who has found, consistently, that waitstaff often have an imperfect understanding of both what gluten is, and knowledge of every single ingredient the chef puts into a dish. My wife and I would definitely stay here again, and would take a chance that the thermostat in another room would work correctly.

Superior professionals, great room and excellent location

I have traveled globally a lot and for decades - this hotel is exactly what I like. The service was top tier. The rooms are elegant and comfortable, the 2 star Michelin was incredible. Front staff includes three Les Clefs d’Or professionals along with an equally superb wider team from top to bottom. Wow.

December stay

We had a great experience at this hotel and I still miss it a month later. Sergio, Diana, and the rest of the concierge team were super responsive and gracious. We love the guides and drivers they arranged for us (Cristina and Joseph) - they added so much to our visit and were very warm and friendly. We enjoyed the bar after a day out and the bartenders were also great. The hotel arranged cupcakes for my son's birthday and they did a great job surprising him and made it fun. I also love the location and the building history + the museum downstairs. Get a glass of wine and go down there! The hotel was also very clean. I recommend this hotel and we were very happy with our stay.
