A former cultural institution and much-beloved boarding school, Collegio alla Querce has been transformed to awaken the property’s storied and romantic history, dating back to the 16th century. What a lovely hotel! I travel quite a bit and I’d have to put this as my top. The design of the hotel is breathtaking with every little detail thought of. The staff were amazing and attentive and really wonderful with the kids as well. They anticipated all our needs offered wonderful suggestions and were beyond helpful. After And we’re beyond helpful. After three nights there we really did not want to leave!

We stayed at the Collegio alla Querce for four wonderful nights. First of all, this hotel is simply gorgeous. It was adorned beautifully for Christmas and everywhere you turned, there were such charming touches of decor and comfortable places to sit and relax. We didn't have time during our stay but I was tempted many a moment to grab a good book and cozy up to any of the quiet nooks and comfortable sitting areas to relax and read. Maybe next time! We are a family of five, all adults, and we reserved a one bedroom suite with a connecting room. Our rooms were spacious (even by American hotel standards) with large bathrooms and plenty of closet space. There were fresh orchid plants included in the beautiful and comfortable decor and delicious treats like fresh fruit and pastries to greet us in our room, as well as kind notes of welcome left for us throughout our stay. And this is why the Collegio is such a special place: all the unexpected and warm touches that make your time here so wonderful. The staff are all incredible - every single person who works here are amazingly hospitable and more than willing to make your stay nothing less than spectacular. The only note to make for those looking into reserving a stay here: it is about a 15-25 minute drive (depending on traffic) from the center of the city of Florence. We never walked to the city center but I've been told it's about 30-40 minutes depending on where you want to go once in the city hub. The hotel does provide a complimentary shuttle van that runs every hour but it is best to reserve your spot ahead of time as it can only seat up to 6 guests. Calling a taxi is a very viable option as well. I believe our stay was during a low season but perhaps the hotel can consider more frequent shuttle service especially during the busier seasons. We enjoyed two meals at the Collegio's restaurant La Gamella. Dinner was very delicious with some of the best cocktails I've ever had. Breakfast here was also amazing - the selection of pastries was impressive - they were (almost) too pretty to eat! Overall, we had a wonderful time at the Collegio alla Querce. It was hard to leave! Although we had a busy schedule seeing as much of Florence and Tuscany as we could during our time here, it was a great feeling coming back to our oh-so-comfortable and welcoming rooms at the end of each day. And bravo to the staff who are truly the ones to applaud for making this place so fantastic.

From the moment we got to Collegio, until the moment we left, we were treated exceptionally well. Everything was excellent and we really enjoyed breakfast and dinner at La Gamella, the food and service was great. Anything we needed throughout our stay was provided with a smile and a warmth of true hospitality. The bed was extremely comfortable, one of the most we've ever experienced. The rooms were exceptionally quiet and you felt like you were in your own world. There were plenty of activities to participate in, we really loved spending time at the ice skating rink, skating and having drinks. We loved the staff, they were all full of personality and warmth and the hardest part was leaving!

I can’t say too much about what a terrific hotel Auberge has created just outside of the center of Florence, with sweeping views and a serene position. The entire team at this new hotel (spring 2025 launch) is working in-sync to provide the finest hospitality experiences for their guests. I loved the pasta making class I took with the executive sous chef. My room was to die for. I enjoyed being an easy 10 minute drive by hotel shuttle or taxi from the center of Florence -which is always crowded and full of tourists. I will definitely return! Specifically, about the hotel’s restaurant La Gamella: I dined at La Gamella as a hotel guest for breakfast, afternoon tea and dinner (prices vary of course for each meal and menu, up to $100 per person for dinner). I was wow’ed at every meal. The chef and the entire team have created something very special. The atmosphere is serene, the service attentive, and most of all the food ranges from superb to absolutely sublime. I had one of the best fish entrees ever in this restaurant. If you are visiting Florence, do yourself a favor and venture off the beaten path (by taxi) up to this fabulous restaurant in a garden high above the city. I don’t think you will regret it. I certainly didn’t, and more than that these were dining experiences that I won’t soon forget. ‘Complimenti!’ to the entire team at La Gamella!
