Perfect Oasis Steps from City Center

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

This is THE place to stay in Florence! Set just outside the city, it is the perfect oasis after a day of touring. We often did not want to leave and ended up cancelling our dinner reservations two nights in town to stay on property and enjoy the restaurant and room service. The renovation of this historic boarding school is amazing - the decor and attention to detail is beautiful, each room a jewel box of treasures (opened in spring 2025). As a family of five, we enjoyed time at the pool which looks out onto the Tuscan hillside - the food and cocktails are delicious. From our room we had a perfect view of the Duomo and entire city. Did not want to leave!

Magical

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

There are hotels you enjoy, and then there are hotels that completely redefine what luxury and hospitality should be. Collegio alla Querce is one of those rare places. We travel extensively and are fortunate to stay at some of the finest hotels around the world, but nothing has compared to the experience we have had here. From the moment we arrived until the moment we leave, every detail has been absolutely perfect. The property is breathtaking, the atmosphere is elegant yet warm, and every corner reflects beauty, comfort, and impeccable taste. What truly sets this hotel apart is its people. Every member of the staff has been gracious, attentive, and genuinely passionate about making our stay unforgettable. Their kindness and professionalism made us feel not like guests, but like family. A very special thank you to Meagan, the manager, whose exceptional leadership and personal attention made all the difference. She is one of the most remarkable hospitality professionals we have ever met. Her warmth, professionalism, and genuine care created an experience we will never forget. Sadly, we are leaving tomorrow, and it is difficult to say goodbye to this magical place. We are already looking forward to returning. Collegio alla Querce has set a new standard for luxury hospitality, and it will always hold a special place in our hearts. Thank you for giving us memories we will cherish forever. Until next time!

Beautiful Property, Disappointing Dining Experience

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

We were excited to stay at Auberge Collegio alla Querce because the property is absolutely beautiful. The bar, cigar room, and many of the common areas are stunning and create a wonderful first impression. The staff throughout the hotel were genuinely warm, accommodating, and eager to help. They even upgraded us upon arrival, which was a thoughtful gesture. However, the upgraded room was on the first floor, much darker, and lacked the balcony of the room we had originally booked. We actually preferred our original room and asked to move back. Where the hotel really missed the mark was the food and restaurant service. The meals were consistently disappointing, especially considering the caliber and price of the hotel. The food lacked the quality and creativity we expected, and it was one of the weakest dining experiences of our trip through Italy. Breakfast service was frustrating every morning. We were frequently left waiting for someone to take our order or even acknowledge us. Once food arrived, simple details were repeatedly overlooked. For example, when mozzarella was served, we had to ask for olive oil and balsamic vinegar, and when a salad was brought to the table, there wasn’t even a serving spoon. These are small details individually, but together they reflected a lack of attentiveness that you don’t expect at a luxury hotel. One exception was the Social Table dinner, which was absolutely worth the money. The food was excellent, the atmosphere was enjoyable, and it ended up being one of the best meals we had at the hotel. It showed what the culinary team is capable of when everything comes together. Overall, Auberge Collegio alla Querce is a beautiful property with wonderful staff, but the inconsistent dining experience and lack of attention to detail in the restaurants kept it from living up to the level we expected. With improvements to the food and restaurant service, it has the potential to be truly exceptional.
