Reviews for Grand Hotel Minerva

Perfect location, wonderful staff but uncomfortable beds and disappointing breakfast

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 14 hours ago

The hotel is in a fabulous position. Everything is within walking distance. The hotel staff were all friendly and helpful and could not have done enough to help find my daughter's teddy which had been bundled up and taken to the laundry with the sheets. We booked it for the pool which I loved after a day of wandering the streets - it was the end of August and beginning of September and I wanted one last blast of sunshine before the autumn begins in earnest. The pool has a fantastic view over the city. However, the beds are very hard and the pillows are flat (and pretty hard too) - so maybe bring your own pillows. Not sure what I would suggest about the hard mattresses. We were also disappointed in breakfast so much so that we ended up going out for it. The pastries/pancakes didn't taste like they had been made fresh on site and the sausages were anaemic. On the plus side the bacon was crispy.

Elegant, spacious and centrally located hotel

We stayed for 3 nights in August and loved every moment. The hotel is beautiful. The rooms were spacious. The AC was fantastic. The staff was so friendly and helpful. And the rooftop pool was a dream. All that plus the location was perfect for us. We did not have time to enjoy the restaurant but the breakfast was great. Definitely would return and will recommend to friends.

A Memorable Stay at Grand Hotel Minerva

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 weeks ago

We had a wonderful stay at the Grand Hotel Minerva in Florence. Our accommodations in a junior suite were perfect. A special thanks goes to Alessandro, the front desk manager, who took a genuine interest in making sure we were well cared for not only in the hotel, but in Florence as a whole. The check-in process was quick and easy. Our suite was clean, spacious, and had all the amenities one could need. The hotel’s location is unbeatable—right in the heart of Florence. We were able to walk everywhere, day and night. The buffet breakfast offered a nice variety. The entire staff went above and beyond always greeting us with a smile. After a day filled with sightseeing and shopping, the rooftop pool provided a perfect place to relax in the afternoon before dinner. We couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay than the Grand Hotel Minerva, and will definitely stay there again the next time we are in Florence.

A lovely stay in Florence

Beautiful hotel. All the staff were helpful and friendly. The room was spotless and comfy bed. The rooftop pool was a real highlight with incredible views across Florence and to the Duomo, perfect for cooling off after sightseeing on a hot day! Location is also perfect, 5 minute walk from the tram at SNM which you can hop on to the airport and short walk to the Duomo.

deserved indulgence

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

There are fewer pleasures greater than swimming the balmy evening away in the rooftop pool with the Duomo a few hundred yards in the background, and a negroni sitting invitingly by the poolside. This is a fantastic hotel with excellent service, well tended rooms, good breakfasts and one of the most tasteful and attractive lobbies of anywhere I have known. We were determined to try out the gastronomic fare in other Florentine eateries but frankly there was little to gain by it and we gave up, much better to eat dinner in the excellent hotel restaurant and stagger upstairs into a sumptuous bed, to awake ready for another day of art, shopping and excess. Having returned home I am now on a soup and water diet until my next visit.
