Lovely Experience

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 days ago

Our family stayed in this hotel while traveling with a group of 50 people. We loved our tour company for putting us in this fantastic hotel. The rooms were perfect. There were adequate elevators for 50 people checking in at the same time. The moment we entered the hotel, the staff was immediatly guiding us to which elevators to use so that everyone could get to their room easily. The rooms are lovely, clean and comfortable. The staff is TOP NOTCH. The customer service was fantastic. We enjoyed the little bar near the lobby prior to going out at night. A huge thanks to the staff for making this experience so great. The location is also five star.

Great experience - can’t wait to go back!

I had an excellent 5 night stay here. The location has to be one of the best in the city - easy walk to the station, the Duomo, Piazza Republica and Ponte Vecchio. The hotel is located on a mainly pedestrianised street so no vehicle disruption outside. All the staff were very welcoming and friendly - they are an asset to the hotel. My single room was on the small size but had everything I needed and it was spotlessly clean. Very good selection at breakfast and all very tasty. This is now my “go to” place to stay in Florence.

Excellent staff, rooms, and location

Excellent Concierge, rooms, breakfast, and location. Easy walk to trains, as well as attractions in and around Florence. After a day about, the bar was a great spot to get a snack and drinks.

Old hotel

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

The hotel reminded me of the twilight years of a faded movie star, with a facade of elegance and beauty, but on closer examination, the cracks of age appear. My junior suite was large and comfortable, the front reception staff helpful and friendly. A big shout out to the wonderful Luca from the dining room, who was a delight and very professional. The dining room itself was quite charming and reminiscent of my aunt’s nursing home. I can forgive the huge, dead cockroach in the window sill and the old power points where none of my European adaptors worked. However, I cannot forgive the appalling bathroom facilities. On the first night, the bathroom floor was completely flooded as the shower screen badly needed some silicone around the edge. I reported this to the reception staff, who would send the ‘technician’ to sort it out. So, the next day, I chose to have a bath, except the water from the taps was brown. The ‘technician’ came to the room, who said it would be investigated. The brown water from the bath taps happened on three more occasions, only to be told by the ‘technician’ who came to investigate, told me ‘it was normal for hot water to be a brownish colour’. For a room rate of 400 to 500 Euros a night (a total of 6 nights) clean water is not an unreasonable expectation and a shower which does not leak onto the floor (requiring numerous towels to mop it up) If you want a modern hotel with clean water, Room 301 at the Hotel de Ville is not for you
