Surrounded by stunning Renaissance architecture and haute fashion boutiques, Hotel De La Ville has long been a haven for aristocratic Florentine families, politicians and entertainment figures. Its ambience reflects the cultural legacies of Florence, while its spirit is unadulterated la dolce vita. Whether you are lingering over homemade pastries in the gracious breakfast room, plotting a day trip to San Gimignano with the concierge or simply resting in your elegant bedroom or suite, your stay is an exercise in the fine art of Italian living.

This has to be one of the most conveniently located hotels I've stayed at. We were within walking distance of attractions such as the Piazza del Duomo, Pitti Palace, Uffizi Gallery, etc. This made going through our itinerary much faster and allowed us to unwind or nap at the hotel when needed. One thing to improve on would be the key system. You get one physical key which you leave with the staff when you leave so that it's safe. Although this is great, I wish they figured out a way to provide multiple keys in case people in your group need to separate. Overall, I am definitely staying here when I visit Florence again.

We had to make changes to our schedule and were told by our original hotel, to basically “go jump”, when trying to change dates. We used to stay at the De La Ville over the past decades, and decided to book in for 6 days, which ended up being 8. The front desk staff, Flavio, Desiree and Sandro were probably the most efficient and friendly hotel employees we meet on our 3 months in Italy, nothing was too much trouble for them and the help they gave us when my wife needed medical help, went above and beyond. On the state of the hotel, you don’t go to Italy and expect all the mod cons when you stay in a beautiful hotel that has been around for decades. Yes the hotel is old, but the place had obviously been through a renovation, as the rooms were large, spotless and the service excellent. The breakfast was bountiful and the staff polite and humorous. As I have said before, position is key when staying in a city like Florence, and this hotel definitely has that going for it. It is situated in a beautiful quite plaza, and only a few blocks from the main attractions, and in the centre of the top end fashion houses. Also within walking distance of some of the best restaurants in Florence. For someone wanting a touch of the golden age of Florence and away from the maddening crowds, then I recommend this hotel.

Very, very serviceminded staff. Excellent. Lovely rooms and extremly central ... 100 - 200 m to the dome? I can really recommend this hotel. Maybe the breakfast could be a bit more varied ... and one of the photos on the booking sites suggest you will stay overlooking the river ... which is not true.

Amazing hotel. Staff was extremely attentive. Rooms were very nice and comfortable. 4 stars plus for sure. Highly recommeneded.

This charming hotel is very conveniently located. The Happy Hour was nice, and the breakfast buffet was adequate. We were part of a 17-person tour group and arrived at 10:30 AM. Of course, it was too early to check-in, so our luggage was unloaded, and the walking tour began. The group returned to the hotel at 6:00 PM to discover the luggage had not been delivered to the rooms even though rooms had been assigned by the hotel. Only one porter was available, so everyone just handled their own luggage. The front desk personnel were overwhelmed and not particularly friendly. I was given a room key only to discover it was already occupied. Fortunately, our local guide stayed until all of the problems were resolved. She acted as interpreter. The room amenities certainly worth a 4 star rating. There were no face cloths, no bathrobes, the mini bar only had 2 bottles of water for $3.00 a piece and no coffee pot. I was told that I could rent a tea pot for $15.00 a day! The bathroom toiletries were just silly. The 5 tissues were in a pocket-sized box and the lotion was in a blister pack. On the surface, the Hotel de La Ville looks like a 4 star hotel but it doesn't act like a 4 star hotel.
