Overlooking the Ponte Vecchio, the Hotel Degli Orafi offers a prime location for travelers seeking easy access to Florence’s historic monuments. The hotel’s slightly disorderly antique décor it is warm and reassuring at the same time. Many rooms have luscious views of the Arno, and a few have their own terraces. One in particular, the room 414, has its own terrace overlooking the river and the Ponte Vecchio and it is famous to be ‘The Room with a View’ (as featured in James Ivory’s film).

Our travel agent gave us a choice of three hotels in Florence, and we picked this one, mainly for its location, which did not disappoint. The hotel is in the center of Florence and within walking distance of anywhere in the city core. The Ponte Vechio Bridge was a block away on one side and the Uffizi Gallery was the same distance on the other side. Breakfast was great. Served in a beautiful dining hall. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. We were surprised when we checked into our room, number 101 (on the second floor) as it was more like a suite than a regular room with a pleasant view of the Arno River. Unfortunately, the bedroom was up a flight of stairs from the living room. This would have been great in our younger years but at this point in our lives not so much. So we spoke to the staff about it and were able to switch to number 102, right next door. Standard room configuration with the same view and much more to our liking. There's a very nice rooftop bar with both indoor and outdoor seating, too. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here.

The Hotel Degli Orafi is a beautiful hotel with an amazing location being situated just steps from the Ponte Vecchio to the right and the Ufizzi gallery to the left. It's also an easy walking distance to the Piazza Republica and the Duomo . The staff was warm and helpful. The design is contemporary, yet inviting and the rooms large and comfortable with nice amenities like a towel warmer in the bathroom. The breakfast buffet has many selections and is very good. The only downside is that the beds are very firm. Just be prepared for that. My husband and I had challenges getting used to it.

Absolutely fantastic hotel in a great location, central to all Attractions. Rooms are superb,of a good size. The breakfast is very good in a fabulous setting. Everything about this hotel is first class. Great staff as well. This was our third visit you won’t find a better hotel in Florence.

Make sure you know what sort of room you have booked! I had booked ahead a few months and reserved a room I knew would be small. However, I must not have read the details carefully enough. The room I got was extremely small, and didn’t actually have a proper bed - it was more like a cot. Sort of like servants quarters. I asked about a availability of other rooms, but was told there weren’t any. I ended up booking at another hotel nearby but paying for the full stay here anyways after returning my room key after a day (into a planned 4 night stay). I’m sure other rooms with proper beds are fine but was surprised they even advertise the very small room I ended up with.

Location location location! Such a stunning place to stay right in the heart of the old town. Beautifully decorated and the suite room we had was perfect for a family. So much space and room. Comfortable bedding for parents as well as the kids. Great kitchenette and stove, seperate bar and bar fridge area. Stunning bathroom. Might be nice for an extra bench top or table to keep toiletries in there. Stunning roof top. Very helpful staff with booking dining options. Lots of options for grabbing breakfast near by but there is a hotel breakfast as well if needed. Would be nice to have some pillow options. But everything was otherwise fabulous in the room. Also might be a nice gesture to offer aperitif hour for the roof top to hotel guests with a slight discount to encourage more utilization. Just a suggestion, but pricing fits with roof top pricing in Florence. And it’s again a stunning space to sit and enjoy in the afternoon, sunset and late evening. Best way to experience Florence and a property that represents all things florentine to love and enjoy.
