Overlooking the Ponte Vecchio, the Hotel Degli Orafi offers a prime location for travelers seeking easy access to Florence’s historic monuments. The hotel’s slightly disorderly antique décor it is warm and reassuring at the same time. Many rooms have luscious views of the Arno, and a few have their own terraces. One in particular, the room 414, has its own terrace overlooking the river and the Ponte Vecchio and it is famous to be ‘The Room with a View’ (as featured in James Ivory’s film).

5 star stay in Florence

We did not want to leave. This such a charming stay. Our room had a stellar view of the river. The staff is extremely professional, knowledgeable, and kind. Everything was clean and tidy. Breakfast downstairs is picturesque with a view. 5 stars

Excellent hotel

Beautiful hotel, very comfortable, excellent location close to everything so easy to walk from famous location to location. Staff friendly and helpful. Great breakfast in beautiful dining room. The roof bar is a real bonus. Would definitely recommend.

Amazing Location!

This review is a little late, but I wanted to share a memorable stay at this great hotel. The obvious positives is the location, which is next door to the Uffizzi Gallery and the Ponte Vecchio Bridge. The front desk really stood out during our trip. It would be easy to get bored dealing with mostly tourists, but this team was not like that. In fact, they were outstanding, as were the accommodations. Of course, a city center locations means that you need to drive in the restricted area to park-that can require careful navigation to get there, especially when the streets are full of tourists. The hotel took care of everything and had the rental car ready when we departed. We would absolutely return to Hotel Orafi !

Not a luxury hotel by any means!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

This hotel is in a very old building which is common with Florence hotels. However, the carpet in the rooms was very old and appeared to be dirty. The bathtub / shower is also old and because of its curved shape difficult to stand making it unsafe. The room furniture was old and looked dated and the mattress was hard and low quality. The room did NOT have a coffee maker and because breakfast does not start until 7:00 AM no coffee was available. The front desk offered to bring hot water and INSTANT coffee if we wanted it earlier than 7. There is no turn-down service which would be expected from a hotel of this class. If you’re on the lower floors facing the river the view is nice but doesn’t make it from the noise of the crowds on the street. The breakfast is sub par and I would avoid it unless it’s free. The hotel staff were polite but not overly friendly. Again, very surprising considering the level of this hotel. The age of the hotel was again reflected in the elevator operation. Very, very slow to the point you’re better off using stairs. The only upsides of this hotel is the rooftop bar which has amazing views but the drink prices are very expensive when compared to Florence pricing. The location is also good but be prepared for lots of noise because of the proximity of the busy street. One final note, when we checked out for an early flight we asked if we could somehow get coffee and were told no because it was before 7. We happened to see that the breakfast area was prepping to open so we asked the “manager” if he could get us some because it looked like they were getting ready. He reluctantly agreed but suggested we TIP him for his efforts (which we did) even though our room rate included breakfast. Overall this hotel is not as advertised and the room pictures are very misleading. I definitely would not recommend as there are many nicer options in the same price range. Lastly, when we checked out the front desk didn’t ask anything about how our stay was which pretty much summaries the attitude of the staff.

Firenze Eccellenze!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 months ago

Amazing location, steps from the Ponte Vecchio, the room, services and amenities were FiveStar. The staff was helpful, efficient and friendly. Rooftop bar and breakfast buffet room were both spectacular! Two elevators is a critical bonus. The bathroom was the best I experienced in ( tub/shower floor was a bit slippery). The bottle of Rose sparkling upon arrival was classy. Sono molte grato!
