We stayed 3 nights at Hotel Savoy. The location is great, as most things are within walking distance of the hotel. The attentiveness and service from everyone we encountered at the hotel exemplified excellent hospitality. Having our meals at Irene was a highlight as we really enjoyed sitting outside. The service in the bar was also terrific. There is more noise at night than I would prefer, but this would not prevent me from returning.

Hotel Savoy is the dream stay when in Florence. I spent 6 nights immersed in the Rocco Forte world and it was magical. From the moment you walk in the door you are made to feel welcome with continuous care shown by the entire team at every opportunity. As an Australian so far from home - I felt at home here. The location, suites, food, drinks, bar, restaurant and entire team are impeccable. The attention to detail is unmatched. Watch the world go by at the Irene Terrace or take a quiet moment and recharge in Bar Artemisia. I highly suggested a massage after all the steps around Florence. A truly magical experience.

The Savoy Florence delivers on its physical promise. Our room was well-appointed, thoughtfully updated, and looked out onto the Piazza della Repubblica — a lively setting that, fair warning, carries noise well into the evening. For those who sleep lightly, request an interior room. What was particularly irksome and egregiously tactless for a hotel of this caliber happened during checkout: Without any prior disclosure — not at booking, not at check-in, not anywhere during our three-night stay — we were informed of an automatic €56-per-night "service charge" added to our bill. Mind you, we were already paying over $1000 a night. We were told we could remove it, but anyone who has stayed at a property of this caliber understands exactly what kind of social pressure that option carries. It's like a host inviting you to a dinner party, and as you're putting on your coat to leave, sliding a bill across the table for the meal. You can refuse to pay — but can you, really? We had tipped generously throughout our stay, as one does when the service warrants it. This charge wasn't about rewarding staff — it was a pressure tactic, structured precisely to make refusal feel awkward. At a hotel positioning itself among Florence's finest, that kind of financial ambush is unbecoming. It is a deliberate policy, and guests deserve to know about it before they arrive. The room/service earns 4.5 stars. The checkout practice earns one. Split the difference and you have my rating.
