A venerated fixture in the city's celebrated skyline, the Plaza Hotel Lucchesi is one of Florence's historic hotels. It ideally resides on the banks of the River Arno, between Santa Croce Cathedral and Piazzale Michelangelo, just a stone's throw from the renowned Uffizi Gallery and the Ponte Vecchio. You'll elegantly encamp in refreshed guest rooms and suites that bid true welcome with fine furnishings, the most modern amenities and glorious views as you're treated to solicitous service in a relaxed atmosphere.

We are in the middle of a wonderful Italian spring break vacation with our two children and have been looking forward to Florence from the outset. As we pulled up to Lucchesi we noticed it was a little dated but were willing to give it the benefit of the doubt. After checking in with a curt, all-business front desk staff, we were taken to our room in an elevator that can only be described as smelling like a sewage pipe. It was so rancid, we had to cover our noses. The rooms were as minimal and unflavorfull as I have ever experienced. No art, bland colors, chipped paint, and a shower fit for a best western. The sewage odor continues in the room, or maybe it was burnt into our noses from the elevator. The fact that this hotel has 4 stars makes me rethink the validity of the entire “Star” system. Realistically this is a 2 Star hotel at best. Maybe once it was nice 30-40 years ago, but in an era when hospitality has evolved, this hotel is stuck in the past. We checked out and were willing to lose the cost of one night in order to make sure our trip was not ruined by this hotel. We got lucky and found an incredible boutique hotel that was available and not even much more money.

Good Hotel on the River Arno. We enjoyed a room with river view comprising the Piazza de Michelangelo just opposite the River. THere is a top floor with Swimming pool (rather small) but it was not yet available for guests. The view from the terrasse is stunning and you see the Dome, the Campanile and the Santa Cruz Church ! Our room was small and well maintained. Breakfast in the form of a buffet offered what one can expect. Service and personel is friendly.

We had a wonderful stay at Hotel Luchessi in Florence and would not hesitate to recommend it. The hotel itself is beautiful with excellent facilities. The rooftop pool area looks like a real bonus in the warmer months – sadly it was not open during our February visit, but we can imagine how special it must be in summer with those views. What truly sets this hotel apart, however, is the service. The staff were exceptional from start to finish – always smiling, always welcoming, and constantly asking if there was anything they could help with. Nothing ever felt like too much trouble. The concierge in particular was incredibly helpful and knowledgeable, offering great advice and making everything easy for us. The location is very good – a pleasant walk from the rail station and perfectly positioned for exploring Florence. Our room overlooked the river, which made it even more special. Breakfast was excellent with plenty of choice and attentive service throughout. It has been a long time since we experienced service of this standard – even compared with many five-star hotels. A genuine thank you to the whole team for making our stay so enjoyable. Well done.

An Outstanding Hotel in the Heart of the City - our second stay there in a few years. We could not fault this hotel, from the moment we entered the lobby. All the staff were professional, friendly and could not do enough to ensure that your stay was the best experience - from the chamber maid turning down your bed each evening to the bar tender serving you a glass of iced water with your drink. We were happy to pay the extra gratuities at check out. The room was amazing and overlooked the river with a well equipped bathroom, There was everything we needed for a very comfortable stay in Florence. Excellent breakfast served until 10.30am, with a host of choices from cooked food to pastries and cheeses. We have stayed in many 4 star hotels around the world and this is up there with the best! We will return. Thank you to the staff at Plaza Hotel Lucchesi.

We absolutely LOVED this boutique hotel. It was chosen by our travel agent and was a great call. Convenient to everything. Luxurious bathroom. Right on the river. Fantastic rooftop bar. Highly recommend. Would stay again. The only critic of the hotel was one night we decided to eat in the hotel restaurant. We were the only people in there. There was an option to order the chefs specialty which was not described in the menu. We all took a chance an ordered it. It was the worst food we had on the whole trip. Really surprising to us as the breakfast we had each morning was spectacular. Must have been a bad night.
