Embraced by its own tree-dappled parkland, Villa Pambuffetti is a showcase for refined style and genuine Italian hospitality. This centuries old sanctuary resides in the village of Montefalco, a scenic enclave in the center of Umbria. Cozy accommodations are adorned with antique furnishings, and many on the top floor boast magnificent views over the valley and Assisi. Paired with intriguing regional wines, cuisine is crafted with produce from the villaâ€(TM)s own farm, making this a true retreat for gourmands.

You should avoid this place! It’s old, run-down, and poorly maintained. We were supposed to stay here for 3 nights in July, but when we arrived, we realized that this place looked nothing like the photos. We arrived just after it had rained, and they used that as an excuse for why everything — and I mean everything — was dirty. First of all, when we arrived, we had trouble finding the entrance. Once we finally found it, there was a dead bird (not recently dead) lying on the driveway. The pool was dirty and the whole place was messy. There were no guests in sight and no staff around. We waited about 10 minutes at reception, and when the woman working there finally showed up, she seemed annoyed with us for some reason. When I asked what had happened, where everyone was, and pointed out that the place didn’t look like the photos, she acted as if we were idiots, started shouting, and said that we had to pay no matter what we said. We had already paid! I wanted to see the room before deciding whether we would stay, but it quickly became clear that the rooms were just as dirty, smelly, and run-down as the rest of the property. The bathroom was moldy. So even though we had already paid nearly €400, we decided to leave and find somewhere else to stay.

I think the experience here depends on the room you get. We had a lovely corner room on the second level that we loved. Others in our group had smaller rooms or suites in need of some updating. The dining room has windows on all sides and is beautiful. Breakfast was served there and was nicely done with enough choices. The main entry with the fireplace smells very smoky and the couches are a bit shabby. There's a nice terrace on the second level and the grounds are very peaceful. Nicely located within walking distance of the main town area.

Such a delightful, regrettably short visit to Montefalco and this extravagantly charming and well kept hotel. Even in the off-season we felt entirely welcomed and accommodated by kindly and attentive proprietors Mauro and Alessandra. Special acknowledgment to the beautiful tower room my wife of 36 years and I shared with its stunning 360 degree views over the surrounding Umbrian valleys. Ate well, slept well and toured the beautiful Museale de San Francesco -- hauntingly beautiful. Can't wait to return. Thank you for everything, Mauro & Alessandra!

We stayed here while on a Rick Steve's Villages of Italy tour. The hotel is an old house converted to lodging and run by the owner (who inherited it from her family) and her husband. It is just outside the walled town (in walking distance - 5 minutes). All of the rooms were different. Ours was quite large and had the largest shower we had in the 2-week tour. The bed was comfortable, hot water and good water pressure in the shower. Breakfast each morning was plentiful with delicious home made pastries (delicious chocolate croissants) and bacon and eggs and fruit. The owner and her husband were very welcoming and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Excellent and tasteful traditional hotel in a classic medieval style villa building with a pool outside. Inside decor is beautiful and elegant and in keeping with the history with this beautiful medieval town. Allesandra took good care of us. Views from the east facing rooms are fantastic. The breakfasts are basic but the breakfast room is really special. It was our second stay and we will stay again.

We had the best time in Italy! I am so happy that we were able to stay at the Pambuffetti because it was comfortable and good. Everything was delicious! As soon as we have time, we will try the recipes (we learned there) at home.

Our stay at the Villa Pambuffetti was a delight. They went out of their way to make our stay pleasant. The cooking class was fun. Our host at dinner at the Villa and every aspect of it was a delight, including a superb presentation of our wine - a great way to finish off our stay.
