Nearest Airport: FLL
We were forced to stay here this past weekend due to our flight getting canceled because of the snow at home. By the time we looked for hotels near the FLL airport, this was the only available option within a 45 min drive. The rooms were grossly overpriced for just 2 queen beds even though there was supposedly a deal going on. When we inquired about an airport shuttle upon checkout, we were looked at like we were crazy and told that they could call a car that costs $180 for 2 people. (yeah, no thanks) Why build a hotel near an airport and not offer a shuttle? I guess my family probably isn't their target demographic.

I was absolutely blown away by this property! I brought my best friend here for a spa day to celebrate her birthday, and it was truly one of the best spa experiences I’ve ever had. We started with lunch at Tide Coastal Kitchen, which had a spectacular poolside view. The food was just as impressive—absolutely delicious and the perfect way to begin the day. From the moment we entered the spa, every staff member we encountered was professional, calming, and attentive. The attention to detail throughout the spa is exceptional. We relaxed on the heated loungers before our services, which immediately set the tone for total relaxation. My massage with Kenloy was incredible—one of the best I’ve had. My friend received a facial with Cinthia, which she said was one of the best facials she’s ever experienced. Afterward, the sweetest spa attendant, Tavell, guided us through the self-guided Hammam experience. We exfoliated with loofahs and a moisturizing soap, and after rinsing off, our skin felt unbelievably soft. We finished our spa journey in the sauna and steam room, then headed outside with a glass of champagne to soak in the hot tub. It truly felt like a full-day experience, and I can absolutely see how if you stayed on property, you’d never need to leave. Before heading out, we walked through the other restaurants, and each space was beautifully designed with an upscale, thoughtful feel. I can’t wait to return—and I’ll definitely be bringing friends next time. Thank you, Mokara Spa, for the perfect day!

While I didn’t have the pleasure of staying at the hotel, I visited specifically for the new spa, Mokara, on property. The only way to describe the experience I had at this spa is transcendental. I came here with a few friends after a difficult week and to celebrate a few of our birthdays that are within a week of each other. We spent time enjoying each others’ company, relaxing in their “hammam”, using the steam room and sauna, and using the cold shower and plunge pool. We also collectively shared the day bed to talk and decompress. We all had massages and while 4 of them were seen at once, I hung back to enjoy the solitude before my own massage. I spent two hours using a combination of steam room, cold shower, and sauna. I spent time meditating and journaling from my phone. While there were other guests around the facility, they were quiet and respectful of everyone’s tranquility. The heated loungers were an added bonus. The vibes were immaculate. The massage I had (I can’t remember the masseuse’s name) was one of the best I’ve had in a long time, and I’ve had massages rather often and at locations around the world. Usually hotel spas are hit or miss for massages, but whoever this guy was he knew what he was doing. I felt like I could melt off of the table once it was over. It’s like my eyes stopped working because I was so at peace. I’ve seen others say that Mokara was “underwhelming” but I truly don’t see where. It was the perfect experience if you want to do nothing and enjoy doing it. Another very very strong point to notice is the staff’s attention to detail and cleanliness. You’d take a towel from a carefully stacked and curated positioning of towels and by the time you turned around one had replenished it. Sean made about 300 rounds with towels, cold towels, ice, water, a mop, snacks, and just general cleaning and laundry. It’s rare to see this level of service these days. The other staff were just as kind and on top of their duties and I also had the pleasure of meeting the manager who was prideful (well deserved so) of the service the spa offered. It was giving white lotus. I can’t wait to come back here. It is truly a gem in south Florida and I would highly, highly recommend it. The day pass isn’t worth it when you can spend ~$50 more to get a massage or other treatment like a body wrap or facial. Very well worth the ~$225 if you make a few hours out of it. My only knocks against it was that there wasn’t any body lotion available after showering in the locker room (but they had tons of other toiletries) and they don’t have a blow dryer. We got ready directly for dinner at the spa so having these would have been nice. 10/10 experience, would absolutely come again.

This hotel presents itself as a luxury, five-star property, but the actual experience fell far short of that expectation. At check-in, we were told we had received a complimentary room upgrade, only to later discover an unexpected $245 charge on our bill. While I did eventually have to dispute this to receive a refund, it was an unnecessary and frustrating issue that should never have occurred. Especially since I was told at checkout the fee was just on their end. Parking was another major inconvenience. Valet service costs $60 per night, yet retrieving the car routinely took 30 minutes or more, which is unacceptable at that price point. Valet were running in circles, couldn’t find peoples keys and even let a runaway bell cart hit someone. I know the hotel just opened, but theroom itself had several problems also. The toilet made loud, ongoing noises whenever someone else in the hotel flushed, and the nearby street noise made it extremely difficult to sleep. Thankfully we only stayed 1 night. Most disappointing was the level of service. Staff appeared poorly trained in hospitality and often seemed “nonchalant”. When asked questions, they seemed panicked and dumbfounded. This further diminished the experience. Overall, we were excited to stay at the hotel since it just opened. Wanting to check out a property that was new and exciting. But this hotel had a five-star appearance and delivered a one-star experience. We saw the prices increase in January to $500-$800/nt… let’s just say we will not be staying here again nor wouldI recommend it to those expecting true luxury or attentive service.
