Inverlochy Castle is magnificent in style, stature and setting, while still giving their guests an at-home feeling with a modest size of just 17 charming bedrooms. Built in 1863 by the first Lord Abinger, this exquisite country house hotel sits in the foothills of the mighty Ben Nevis, surrounded by the glens and lochs of Scotland's West Highlands. While staying here, you might retire to an aptly named Queen's or Prince's Suite, or enjoy a meal in one of three exquisite dining rooms whose elaborate furnishings were presented by the King or Norway.

Staying here felt like stepping into a real-life fairytale. As a family of four, we weren’t sure what to expect from a luxury castle stay, but it completely exceeded us. The castle itself is stunning—full of character, history, and those classic Scottish views you hope for. At the same time, it’s incredibly comfortable and welcoming, not stuffy or intimidating at all. Our room was beautiful, spacious, and had just the right mix of old-world charm and modern luxury. The staff were fantastic—warm, attentive, and great with our kids, which made the whole experience feel relaxed and easy. Nothing ever felt like too much trouble. We especially loved the little moments—walking the grounds, cozying up inside after a day out, and just soaking in the atmosphere. It felt special without trying too hard. Such a memorable stay and definitely a highlight of our trip. If you’re thinking about a castle experience in Scotland, this is absolutely worth it.

where do i start with this place, We had booked a room to stay after our wedding day, when we arrived, we were greeted by very friendly and professional people, they took our bags into the hotel and gave us a little tour of the castle, when we arrived at our room we discover that they had upgraded our room for our special day and omg it was so beautiful, we had an amazing day at our wedding and this place was the cherry on top, they made us feel so special and made our day feel extra special, i would like to thank everyone there for treating us with the utmost respect and giving us the royal treatment, we will be back thank you so much again

We didn't stay at the castle but went there for dinner. Beautiful historical structure. Nice sitting area with drink and fireplace prior to dinner. Unfortunately the dinner was very poor. The first course of salmon was a cube that one couldn't cut. Other tables also sent it back as inedible. The duck was configured into a round cube, really not good, disappointing. The service - they made the non-hotel guests second class citizens, serving us always last. It is a very expensive meal, not at all worth it.

I’ve stayed in many places in Scotland and this one didnt disappoint. It’s a beautiful building with grand rooms. Big windows and lovely surrounds. The staff were friendly and attentive. Sometimes too much. But better that than none at all. What’s interesting and I couldn’t put my finger on it whilst there. But afterwards I have a few thoughts. 1. The evening meal occasion is very stuffy!! Too much formality possibly. It’s not sophisticated charm. Almost a playbook to 1980’s dining rooms or dare I say it basil fawlty. Doilies on tables is just very old fashioned. 2. Also a lot of non local / Scottish staff. Surprisingly few indigenous locals and that threw us. Everyone was lovely mind you. It also felt like some staff were on the clock 12-16 hours a day. From breakfast to post dinner drinks. That felt awkward for us. 3. Main dining room food was excellent and everyone should be commended for great food. I did find the ‘give us’ your breakfast slot annoying. We should just come down when we are ready. Also the room was very very hot. See comment about jackets later. 4. The bedrooms miss some key things. Plugs near mirrors for hairdryers. Consistent presentation of turndown. Some nights water added to room others not. Sometimes bed turned down others not. Nonspecific desk for writing at / working at or make up table with good lighting. 5. Jackets at dinner!! When you’re up for a weekend in late Feb. You’re more worried about packing a fleece than a dinner jacket. So why insist! Seems very 1970’s. 6. Happy staff. We did meet a lady who had worked there 45?years. That’s amazing and she was superb in her praise of everyone.

Celebrated a birthday with my husband. From the moment we arrived to the moment we left, everything was just superb! Our room had views of Ben Nevis, our 5 course dinner was incredible - as was the breakfast and I have to say, the staff were amazing. Nothing was too much trouble! We thought it might be a bit stiff or old fashioned - but it was so relaxing and peaceful - and the pictures don't do it justice. It's really lovely and full of old Scottish charm. Loved it !
