When it comes to vacationing on the Italian Riviera, it does not get much more spectacular than Augustus Hotel & Resort. Located in Forte dei Marmi, flanked by sandy beach on one side and forests of the Apuan Alps on the other, the property consists of a collection of elegant buildings. There is the Main House, a modern complex called Le Nave, a series of private villas, and the Augustus Lido compound, which connects directly to the beach via private underpass. Regardless of your choice of room, accommodations are sure to impress, many with private terraces facing scenic forest and sea views. Travertine bathrooms, satellite television, wireless internet access, and mini bar are just a few of the modern touches, and you will find the style and ambiance here to be thoroughly European in its sophisticated appeal. The resort's private beach is certainly one of the highlights, and over 100 beach tents outfitted with sun beds and cushioned chairs await your afternoon of bliss. Of course, attentive beach service is ready and willing to offer towels and beverages, making your time in the sun all the more pleasurable.

My wife, our college-aged daughter, and I stayed at the Augustus Resort over Easter weekend. We were eager to spend time along the Italian coast and were delighted to discover this gem in the charming town of Forte dei Marmi. Our stay was truly outstanding. The two-bedroom, two-bathroom apartment was spacious and perfectly suited for the three of us. Each morning, the buffet breakfast offered a wide variety of delicious options to start the day. The soft sandy beach and relaxing cabanas created an ideal retreat, and the beachside lunch restaurant served incredible food with impeccable service. The staff was exceptional, with special thanks to Nina, the concierge, who assisted us on multiple occasions. We enjoyed both taking the shuttle and walking into town, as well as running through the parks and along the boardwalk. The hotel also serves as a great base for exploring Cinque Terre. On our way back to Florence, we stopped to climb the Leaning Tower of Pisa—just a 45-minute drive from the resort. Our three-night stay flew by, and we only wished it had been longer. It’s a truly special place, and we would love to return. Many thanks to the entire staff for making it feel like a home away from home.

Extremely overpriced beach club. Felt like we were completely fleeced and no chance of a refund even with torrential rain. The food in the restaurant is not good and again overpriced. We resent how much we paid and wish we had gone elsewhere.

This fine hotel , the Lido extension, which faces the sea ,is best described by me as “shabby chic” and I wouldn’t want to stay at another hotel in Forte . My room is ok , but what gives it the edge for me is the excellent service and simple charm of this Iconic small hotel Perfect breakfasts and a lovely beach

I was there in May, so not peak season, the room was big but the bed very uncomfortable (too soft mattress, probably old bed). The bathroom was big but the shower’s faucet was broken. I told that to the management, so just for the last night they gave me an upgrade to a family suite very nice, with 2 rooms and a renovated bathroom, although I noticed cheap faucets. The breakfast was good, the restaurant too. The pool was still closed, that was disappointing, but they have a wonderful beach club, so I stayed by the sea very comfortably. It’s the highlight of this hotel, although it’s not included, as in the whole Forte dei Marmi. All in all, it was a nice stay but with some issues, that were solved in the end. But I think that Forte is overrated and way too expensive, for such an ugly sea. Beach clubs are very organised and clean, but if the sea is so bad, what’s the point?

This hotel resort is absolutely gorgeous! The staff is kind and welcoming! Everything is pristine. My family enjoyed staying here. The restaurant made a cake especially for my daughter’s birthday which was absolutely delicious! The waterfront cabana with unobstructed views was truly a treat. We loved everything about this resort.
