Good hotel for rest & relax trips but some con's

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 weeks ago

Great hotel to take a break away from the city, with its outdoor pool in a garden, and a small lake under its windows, a nice plush indoor pool and a spa, it is a very nice hotel for a rest and relax away from the city noise, while being 25mns drive from the center of Frankfurt, but had no public transportation reaching it. I got a lake facing room, very plush, modern, very quiet, it had a large bathroom with huge floor to ceiling windows, bathroom was full of light. However the big con is that the Room to bathroom door is glass, and the bathroom windows don't have a blackout curtain. You end up with morning light in the bedroom at 05h30 in summer, and there is no possibility to black out these windows nor the bathroom glass door. I ended up hanging towels on the windows and duvet on the bathroom door. Not a 5 stars experience or feeling honestly and very much an lousy sleeping experience.. Service at the bar was a total let down on June 5th evening, the server was overly rude when we asked him whether he will come to the table to take an order, lashing back "I am alone, i cannot come", while a simple "unfortunately you must come to the bar to put your order, we do not have table service tonight" would be the appropriate way to speak to customers in a 5 stars. Other guests shared the same comment that evening, how come in a 5stars hotel bar, there is a single waiter and he is so rude, this happened on June 5th at 23h00. Management please retrain your staff. Receptionist and concierge teams are professionals and know their work to their nail end and personnal at the spa was full of attention. Breakfast is pretty good, choice very wide and of high quality (except the coffee).

Quick two night stay

Rooms in the same category may vary in standard depending on location - so it's worth paying attention to this when booking. A comfortable bed, heated bathroom floor, electronically controlled shower temperature and a wide selection of breakfast dishes are some of the hotel's advantages.

Nice property but weak on customer service

The property has great potential. The breakfast in the adjoining restaurant is good. We traveled on business and although we booked far in advance, one of our colleagues was placed into tiny (single twin bed) overflow room without apology or adjustment to the rates. Their response to our complaints were disingenuous and insulting - they claimed it was an upgrade. They also tried to charge more than the contracted rate for the rooms. Our receipts for the stay were to be emailed to us and we never received. As of this writing, I am still having to email and call to beg for a receipt. Not sure why this should be a problem? If you stay here - be sure to check your charges upon check out, and get a printed paper receipt. If hotel management is reading this, what's the issue? Just send our receipts!

Too expensive for what you get.

Unfortunately, our stay never got off to a good start as we had booked two connecting rooms only to be told that there were none left! I'm not sure how that can happen as we had booked one. we were offered two rooms next to each other which were not connecting. The hotel is huge, spread out over a vast area which means, from reception to your room is at least a 5 minute walk through what can be described as a maze. The hotel is also very dated and could do with some refurbishment. Swimming pool was ok but also dated. The bar is nice and very comfortable. Restaurant was also good for dinner as well as breakfast. Unfortunately, I would not stay here again.

Great but not really

We were checked in by a lady who managed to stay silent during the whole process. It was New Year’s Day and it would have been nice that be greeted but seems she didn’t feel like it. Hotel is dated. Breakfast was very nice. Wellness area is dated. A very rude lady requested 50 euro for entry though I’m diamond. Went to reception to sort it out but she still insisted. It ruined my day tbh to be yelled at by a member of staff. I requested to ‘t speak with a manager but seemed I wasn’t important enough . Shame because it could be a nice place
