Framing the entry road are rows of vineyards, heavy with the promise of next year’s vintage framed by the manicured precision of beautifully clipped hedges. Young olive trees and ancient oak trees are silhouetted against the rugged mountains beyond in this Arcadian estate.

I took my 85 year old father to visit Franschoek and wanted something very special and comfortable; Grande Provence was perfect. The warmest welcome, stunning views, beautiful living room, garden and pool. We had the Shiraz room that was so comfortable, quiet, opened onto a little garden of our own. Wellington & Jessie are the nicest hosts and breakfast was heavenly. We walked up to the wine tasting which was a 15 minute walk through the vines, and came to a lovely garden shaded by trees and decorated with original art, we felt like we had found paradise and we didn’t want to leave!

Nice and beautifully furnished hotel in a quiet area of Franschhoek. Rooms are spacious, comfortable and with many amenities. Unfortunately, we had a bad smell coming from the sewer in the bathroom and certain small things in the room need refurbishment (e.g. shower door dors not close properly, light sensor randomly switches on and off). However, I would consider the property rather as a small guest house and not a hotel as it does not offer the same service & facilities as other hotels with similar prices. There is nobody around in the evening/night in case assistance is needed, it does not have a gym or bar (only a common room with no service) and a limited breakfast menu. Compared to other hotels, service was rather reactive and it was partially difficult to get ahold of somebody from the hotel. Overall, a pleasant experience but the value for money isn't quiet right.

Lovely small hotel, great and amicable crew and beautiful setting. Adjacent property perfect. for wine tasting, dinners and a bit of cultural pleasures in the galleries.

We stayed for 3 nights here as a last minute booking we didn’t have as much availability in Franschhoek. We prefer to be near town as you can walk to restaurants and shops but decided to stay a little further out. On the plus side it was very quiet, more space especially around the pool where you could find sun most of the day, and it was nice to escape back to an oasis after a day out. The room and bed was comfortable (we were in the main house) and the shutters meant it was pitch black at night for a good sleep. They gave us a bottle of wine and a free tasting in the vineyard but we didn’t use the latter but enjoyed dinner one evening at the Oak restaurant at the vineyard which was lovely and great staff. Having stayed a number of times in Franschhoek we didn’t feel the service / added touches were quite as special as other properties and the kitchen being smaller meant for a long wait at breakfast for cooked items. Also to get to the Oak restaurant was a 20m walk in the dark - no easy / transport route if you didn’t want to drive your own car and have a drink which seemed a missed opportunity- a golf buggy would have solved this! It was also a bit too far out of town - while we walked a few times our preference is a property closer to town.

This is an oasis in the Mountains near Franschhoek. The accommodation is stylish and well appointed. Room amenities are all you’d need. There is a private pool with loungers and umbrellas. All spotless. The location gives you access to all the Wine Estates via the renowned Tram/Bus system. On site there is the Oaks Restaurant where we enjoyed a fantastic NYE meal outside with live music and dancing. Food was top drawer. At the Owners Cottages we were so well looked after by Wellington and the team who even called to advise we’d left some jewellery behind that we were able to collect. Fabulous team, fantastic location.
