Upscale dining

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

Attended a post funeral luncheon here the next of kin was staying here. They seemed happy with accomodations. I can speak to the dining. Beautiful upscale dining room and place settings. Food was quite good and nicely portioned. Not large menu selection. The deserts were five star quality. Absolutely amazing , generous portions, beautiful presentations obviously from a very skilled pastry chef who has pride in their work. I have to say that the service was very slow for the main meals , no fault of wait staff. Nice place to get fine dining in a small town.

Very disappointing

Very disappointing experience overall. Our reservation was somehow lost despite having a text confirmation, which was frustrating—especially since we were there with a group of friends to celebrate my birthday. Although our server was pleasant, the service was extremely slow. We were rarely checked on and were never asked if we wanted additional drinks or anything else. Our food arrived over an hour after we were seated, and everything was cold. I ordered the pork belly, which was tough and chewy, almost like leather. My entrée was so overly salty that it was completely inedible. My wife ordered the signature dish Lamp Lighter Chicken; the potatoes were also excessively salty, and the chicken itself was very dry. We informed our server, and while my entrée was comped, the manager never came to our table to apologize or even acknowledge the issues. I’ve been dining at the White Inn for many years, but sadly, this was my first and last visit under the new ownership.

Food just oK but atmosphere is beautiful staff is delightful

I picked up a large lunch of eight. One of the lunches called in wasn’t even on the order. I double checked the lunches that I had on the up receipt and one was missing. I did get that one brought to me. I personally had the salmon and Caesar salad. I wouldn’t do that again it’s very plain no difference than a diner. The fish was tasty enough, but not much flavor. Nothing special and not just rare but somewhat uncooked on the inside and the Caesar salad was nothing but chopped up Romaine, some shredded of Parmesan, croutons and a premade restaurants supply Caesars dressing like you could buy at the grocery store. Not upscale enough for this type of establishment. I would expect the dressing to be homemade I’ve had a better Cesar salad at Applebee’s.

A beautiful historic inn that was recently totally renovated inside and out.

We stayed there 6/19, 6/20 and the accommodations were exceptionally good. Room was meticulously clean, very comfortable bed, adjustable A/C and very quiet room. Staff was very attentive and breakfast offerings were varied and delicious. Will definitely return!

Amazing transformation!

Wow! The White Inn's renovation is impressive. I stayed there six or seven years ago before the new owners, and it was a dump. The latest version of the White Inn is beautiful. I will not be staying anywhere else during my WNY trips. Kudos to Steve St George and his team!
