Reviews for Hilton Fukuoka Sea Hawk

Comfortable stay

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 weeks ago

Very good and comfortable stay, very close To the mallls and eating joints. Not very close to the metro line. Hotel is nice, rooms are of good size and food is also good. The breakfast is vast but not too many options for vegetarian people. ……..

Disappointed by Cleanliness, Service Recovery & Billing – A Bitter End to Our Japan Trip

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

We stayed at Hilton Fukuoka Sea Hawk 3 nights and sadly, our experience fell short of expectations—especially for a 4.5 star Hilton property. This was the last stop on our Japan trip, following outstanding stays in Tokyo and Kyoto at Marriott properties, where I am also a Gold Elite member. In contrast, our Fukuoka stay left a bitter final impression. On our last day, as we were packing, making sure nothing dropped left anywhere in the room my daughter discovered a pair of men’s underwear under the sink— left from prior our checkin and clearly missed by housekeeping for all three days. This was both shocking and unacceptable in terms of hygiene. When I reported this to the front desk, the response was indifferent—no apology, no concern, no acknowledgment of the seriousness of the issue. Maybe was a language issue or maybe commin incident happening at this hotel, not sure. I requested the name and contact of the General Manager to escalate the matter, but the staff refused and instead handed me a generic email address. Additionally, although our stay was fully prepaid with taxes, the hotel tried to overcharge us with additional taxes. We had to identify the error ourselves—yet again with no apology or accountability. After our departure, I located the General Manager’s name and email through my own network and reached out directly to express my concerns. He responded two days later with an apology and stated that the housekeeping issue had been addressed with the internal team. While I appreciated the acknowledgment and apology, no gesture of goodwill was offered—not even a symbolic one—despite the clear lapse in cleanliness and service. Regarding the billing issue, the GM explained that the error was due to a change in our reservation or room type. However, this was never communicated to us at any point during the stay or at checkout. We were simply handed an incorrect bill and expected to notice and challenge it on our own. With over 25 years in the hospitality industry, I understand that mistakes happen. But what defines a brand is how those mistakes are handled. Unfortunately, Hilton Fukuoka Sea Hawk did not meet those expectations. I share this review not out of anger, but in the hope it leads to improvements in service recovery, transparency, and guest care—areas where this property clearly needs attention. As a Hilton Honors Gold Elite member, if this is how status guests are treated, I can only imagine how non-status travelers might be received. It’s a real shame that after a wonderful 10-day trip across Japan, our experience had to end on such a low note. addresses these gaps in service.

Spacious with a 1995-feel

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 months ago

Overall we had a comfortable and enjoyable stay. +: The staff were polite and very helpful, the bell captain spent a lot of time making suggestions for attractions when I asked, the room (basic twin) was spacious by Japanese standards with a wide view over the streets/baseball dome, there is a shopping centre located nearby which made shopping very convenient, the breakfast caters to many cuisines (even bibimbap for Korea!). Btw, there are perks for being a member at breakfast. The view from the front door is really pretty. Note: previous reviews mentioned no USB charging, however there is a clock by the bed with 'fast charging' that allow you to charge devices. -: In our room we could hear plumbing noises that sometimes bothered my partner, it's also pretty outdated - discolouring of floor tiles in the bathroom, a crack in the wall has been patched up partially only, rather retro bathroom - water dispensers only available on two floors as far as we could tell. There is only a shuttle bus to a subway station at weekends and the hotel is far from the centre of the city. I recommend downloading the Charichari bike rental app if you want to get around without a car. There are bikes available at a dock nearby, but do make sure to park at a dock correctly (note they fill up).

Appreciative of the room upgrade and kind staff

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 months ago

As Hilton members, the positives of the hotel were an upgrade to a very large and spacious room with a seaview and access to the lounge for our family. The evening selection at the lounge was good with an offering of alcohol such as sake. The hotel is located about a 20min drive from the airport. There is a large shopping centre which we could walk to, plus many restaurants and convenience stores in close proximity. It is one of the largest Hilton hotels in Asia with over 1,000 rooms and the hotel can get very crowded especially during breakfast (though there was a special corner for Hilton members). There was one instance where we had made a housekeeping request but it was lost in translation. Eventually the miscommunication was clarified on the third attempt.

Grand oceanfront property

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 months ago

I booked a Double room as a diamond member. The day before check in I was upgraded to an Executive King room. A pretty good upgrade! I was readily helped in English at the elite line. The main lobby area is amazingly spacious. The room itself was nice. The building is a bit on the older side and this feeling extends to both the room and the executive lounge. I did notice a bug in the bathroom trash can but it was just one small one. The view was great. Rooms on the west side have a view of the Fukuoka Tower area. I was on the east side which can clearly see Paypay Dome. In fact, on days when the dome was open you could even see the sports field. The hotel itself is one of the biggest Hilton properties I’ve stayed at in Japan. The main lobby area and restaurant are amazingly spacious. There are dedicated elevators to the lower-middle floors as well as the higher floors. If going from a high level to a middle level it actually becomes necessary to transfer elevators on the 17th floor. Of course, to be clear there is direct access to the lobby no matter what floor you’re on. The hotel is located near the ocean and is a bit far from central Fukuoka. It’s important to note that there are no nearby train or subway stations. It’s necessary to take the bus when utilizing transit. That said, the eastbound bus stop is right next to one of the hotel’s entrances while the westbound bus stop is right across the street. I enjoyed breakfast once as well as evening cocktail hour in the executive lounge. The staff did a good job accommodating guests and I thought the selection was fair. As I mentioned before, the building is a bit older so the lounge matched the slightly dated feeling. I more so enjoyed breakfast in the main restaurant on the 4th floor. There were plenty of options including Hakata ramen and some delicious cocoa in the members’ area. The dining area is huge and I was glad to see there was an elite line as well as a dedicated area for Hilton members. As far as I could tell, there was no elite requirement for the members seating area so I’m puzzled why people don’t take a minute to sign up for a free membership. One of the best amenities that I look forward to seeing at a hotel in Japan is an onsen. This hotel indeed has one on the 7th floor. Of course, a locker room, hot bath, cold bath, and sauna were all included. As a diamond member I enjoyed complimentary access. I really enjoyed these facilities and partook every day of my stay. I believe normal access was 1,500 yen. Overall I really enjoyed my stay and I believe the benefits far outweigh the few small criticisms I have. The price was also quite reasonable for the experience so the next time I come to Fukuoka I believe this will be my go-to hotel.
