On the dramatic, volcanic island of Madeira, southwest of mainland Portugal in the vast expanse of the Atlantic, Quinta da Casa Branca blends uniquely contemporary style with an original manor -- site of the hotel's gourmet restaurant -- that dates back to the 19th century. Every room and suite boasts a glass wall opening directly onto the beautiful grounds, and the glass-walled bar, lounge and library beckon the sunshine as they look out over magnificent gardens toward magnificent vistas of the mountains and ocean.

We just had our sixth holiday at the wonderful hotel on Madeira. Thhe staff are fantastic and ensure a relaxed holiday for all. The hotel is an oasis and a 30 minute walk from central Funchal. It's a great place to relax and unwind and also a great location from which to explore the rest of the island. Bus transport is excellent and provides an option to renting a car or taking a taxi. The hotel places emphasis on wellbeing and has a spa and pools as well as options for massage and other therapies. Restaurants in the hotel include and informal terrace as well as a Michelin starred restaurant. There are plenty of local resaurants where locals eat so don't be afraid to try out their authentic dishes. We may well be drawn back again in the future - I hope so.

We have just returned from our first trip to Madeira and the Quinta da Casa Branca , it is a lovely hotel set in beautiful grounds. The staff were very helpful and nothing was to much trouble. Our room was clean and spacious . We looked forward to our breakfast which was well presented and varied from day to day. We will definitely be returning.

Arriving late due to flight delays, the hotel had thoughtfully laid out some cold plates in our room as the kitchen had closed. So very much appreciated after a long journey. A sign of positive things to come. Breakfast each morning was a delight, vast spread of changing fruit and baking, as well as a cook to order selection which gave too many excellent choices. Attentive servers and constantly replenished buffet. The gardens are immaculate and varied, and almost put the official botanical gardens to shame. Sitting in a jacuzzi surrounded by growing bananas was delightful. As the weather improved during the week the gardens were visibly growing. The hotel was a quiet oasis in a busy part of town. The main noise being birdsong. I wouldn’t recommend staying here if wanting nightlife, but it’s perfect for relaxation and escapism to unwind and chill. We didn’t eat in the on site restaurants but there are lots of options close by.
