Royal Savoy

What a fabulous place to take a holiday - excellent staff, facilities and food, and the location by the sea is wonderful.

Enjoyed my stay at the Savoy which had helpful, friendly and attentive staff. The gym facility was nice and the equipment seemed very new. It would be good however if the gym in the Royal Savoy was made 24/7, though I appreciate this could be difficult with it being in the same location as the pool. More information on the menus regarding allergens including gluten would also be helpful to make it easier eating in the hotel restaurants. Very cosy atmosphere in the rooms, but more ceiling lighting would be good as the rooms can be quite dark once the sun has gone down. Additionally, more utilisation of the Savoy Signature app would be helpful for housekeeping requests and room keys etc.

We did a long weekend over the UK Bank Holiday and everything was as advertised. The staff are all helpful and attentive and the food is good. The room was massive and very quiet. We were a bit worried being near the lift but the bedrooms are actually quite far back from the hallway so we didn't hear anything. Having a dressing room was a nice touch too. The walk into town is fine, only a little bit uphill on the way back. The local restaurants are great and accessed over the bridge to the other Savoy, through their gardens and a great little lane with local places! reception were great at getting taxi's and booking places too.

Upon check in, I learned that our children could not stay with us! I chose this property because the rooms are large, yet we were told that we couldn't have our two children stay with us and had to book another room.

The Royal Savoy is a stunning resort in a prime location—just a short walk from the lively heart of Funchal, with plenty of restaurants and shops nearby. The hotel itself offers delicious food and nightly entertainment, but I highly recommend venturing out to explore the rich flavors and fascinating tours around Funchal and the beautiful island of Madeira. The staff are exceptionally friendly, and the entire property is spotless. It’s perched on a steep hill, but honestly, that’s part of Madeira’s charm—elevated views and dramatic landscapes are everywhere!
