Seamless Business Experience in Madeira

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 day ago

I stayed at Savoy Palace for a business trip in May 2025 and was thoroughly impressed. The location is excellent—central yet peaceful—making it easy to balance work and relaxation. The rooms are modern, spacious, and equipped with a reliable Wi-Fi connection, which was crucial for remote meetings. Service was consistently professional and attentive. Meeting facilities were well-maintained and perfect for client sessions. Highly recommend for business travelers looking for comfort and efficiency in Madeira.

Amazing hotel

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 day ago

Wow, what a hotel. 5 stars for a reason. I’d recommend paying the extra for a sea view room. The bedroom was a really good size with a huge bed, huge walk in shower, double sink area and separate toilet. Plenty of hanging space, great coffee machine with pods changed twice daily and a mini bar. The bar is the usual, stupidly overpriced drinks and snacks, so buy your alcohol and water from the Spar opposite the hotel and keep chilled in the fridge. Regarding water, you get a litre carton to use for general use plus a small carton free every night at turndown. Good size balcony with table and chairs with a view over the gardens, pool and sea. Hats off to the chambermaids as the rooms were well attended to, clean towels if required (they do try to recommend reusing where possible to save the environmental impact of wasteful washing). Turndown then is a second clean of the day, with more water and a daily chocolate, topping of coffee pods and even down to folding or stamping your toilet roll. Attention to detail. The breakfast selection was great. Lots to choose from and an area for show cooking omelets, eggs, eggs Benedict and freshly cooked porridge, plus a coffee service for freshly made coffees, if you want to choose your blend. Good seating outside, but when busy, or staff not around when shown to your table, can be a bit hit and miss to whether you get table service for your drinks. The hotel itself was beautifully decorated and had lovely grounds. The outside pools are not heated but acclimatized, so I guess warmer in the summer. The large pool outside was a bit fresh but after a few seconds the “shock” was over and it was quite refreshing. Nice selection of sunbeds and a towel service at each pool. Again pool bar service a bit hit and miss but not overly expensive. Great infinity pool on the top of the hotel, but a bit odd to access through the rooftop restaurant. This pool was warmer and had a great view over Funchal and the mountains. Also a nice bar on the roof to sit out and enjoy food and drinks, but watch out for the persistent pigeons and check the seats before sitting down in case one had pooped without staff noticing! My only gripe would be that on several occasions some areas of the hotel were closed due to private functions, so twice we could not access the roof pool and bar, and on one day the sunbed area was closed mid afternoon. I appreciate the hotel offers parties etc but it just felt like they had too much priority as we were still paying guests, of who they want to return. Apart from my little gripe, I can’t fault this beautiful hotel, from the greeting from the door staff to the reception team, chefs and waiting staff and cleaners. Also ideally positioned within a short walk into Funchal and with a good selection of bars and restaurants nearby. Can’t wait to return.

Europe's most luxurious hotel

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 5 days ago

Everything is superb. Staff are very helpful. No surprise it has been voted Europe's most luxurious hotel. Good gym, many pools and many bars to choose from. The bar and pool on the roof are amazing. It's the best hotel I've ever stayed in anywhere in the world

Awesome hotel

We spent a week at the Savoy Palace, a luxurious 5-star hotel nestled near the stunning coast of Madeira Island. From the moment we arrived, the receptionist greeted us warmly, making us feel truly welcomed. Despite our early arrival, we were efficiently checked in, we toured around the hotel while our room was prepared. Once ready, we received a call to collect our keys promptly. Our room boasted a picturesque view overlooking the beautiful swimming pool, especially enchanting at night when the lights illuminated the surroundings. The consistent cleanliness of the hotel deserves commendation, and the staff members were always friendly, accommodating, and exuded genuine happiness in assisting us. Throughout our stay, we felt in the luxurious ambiance and vibrant atmosphere that the Savoy Palace exuded. We fell in love with every aspect of this hotel and would recommend it to anyone seeking a truly exceptional experience.

Greatest week of my life

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

My wife and myself chose this stunning location for our wedding in September (I’m very late writing this) and it was the greatest experience, week, time of my life. We couldn’t have imagined just how amazing everything was. Jolene, our wedding organiser absolutely smashed it out of the park with the help from the Bar manager Daniel. Everything was perfect. My wife had a little hiccup on checking in for her stay leading up to the wedding and believed she had not been given the room that she booked. I went the following day to figure this out and at the time was not best pleased but the duty manager who’s name I have forgotten, took me to one side, brought out his laptop and in a calm and informative manner, showed me that my wife had indeed been given the room that we had booked. This gentleman handled the situation fantastically and immediately took my level of frustration and neutralised it within seconds. He even offered a free spa treatment for my wife which we unfortunately didn’t have the time to use. My family and friends stayed here also and had the most amazing time. Our wedding is still spoken about now. If you are looking for a venue for your wedding, look no further. We were married on the rooftop, at the very top and then had our wedding reception in Galaxia bar. It was stunning. This is the only hotel in Madeira that we will ever stay in again.
