What a beautiful place! Lovely place, conveniently located, ample parking. Very comfortable bed and a large shower! Pau de Lume (one of the restaurants on site) is fantastic. If you like to hang around a pool, they have a very large and beautiful pool. We had a great stay and the Savoy Palace provided a great closing to our days out hiking beautiful Madeira.

A wonderful hotel, 5 stars deserved! Warm welcome and special attention (special mention for Diana). Cleaning twice a day, water and chocolate. Large room, overlooking the ocean, music in the evening, but not beyond 10-11 pm, otherwise quiet. Hearty breakfast, with fresh products. The only observation would be about the pillow being much too soft, and the duvet being too thick for the hot season. I will confidently recommend it to other people.

Very disappointing visit to this hyped 5-star hotel. The hotel itself is beautifully designed and decorated and the rooms are super comfortable. The pool area is beautiful too. The big let down in this hotel was the service. With the exception of Mr. Jardim (one of the concierges) and Bruno (also concierge), we found the staff to be disinterested and/or provide bad or no service. It started on the first evening when we went to the rooftop bar. We had to wait about 25 minutes to order drinks. When we had finished the chips served with the drinks, I asked for more. I had to ask four times before they were brought. Then we wanted to order food and were told food would not be served until 7pm. It was 6.40pm. We asked for the menus to browse but were told we could not have menus until 7pm. The server brought us menus at 7.15pm. The food was not good. So that was our first dining experience. Breakfast was fine. More like a canteen than a 5-star hotel experience. There was "show cooking" advertised and this was just an extremely grumpy looking woman pouring egg batter into the frying pan and not interacting with the guests. Also here the service starting with the welcome to the breakfast area was brusk bordering on rude. Instructions to "wait here" no please or thank you, while they sorted out a table. The pool area was again a disaster for service. I was there twice for about 3 hours and not once did a server approach me asking if I wanted to order anything. To be honest it was a let down. The buildings and facilities are 5-star but the food is 3 and I would give the service only 1 star. I will not be back again.

Return trip to Royal Savoy after a great holiday there in Sept 24 . The hotel has amazing facilities , great location and the staff in the breakfast restaurant are exceptional- and hardworking. The spa is outstanding and the massage incredible. We visited the reception desk on 3 occasions during our visit , and on each visit were met with a polite but not a welcoming or friendly service. We had a garden room , 0041 and were both bitten badly by mosquitoes and whilst the room was as expected , would not recommend a garden room if you are prone to insect bites.. Whilst asking if there was an option to change to a different room were informed that was not possible , understandably as the hotel was at 90% capacity. The roof top bar is stunning , staff were hardworking but under pressure to deliver drinks in a timely manner. This was not their fault - many guests for them to look after. The housekeeping team were hit and miss , cleanliness great but stock replenishment varied ie coffee pods, milk , and sometimes towels. The gentleman turning the bed down every evening however provided outstanding service and was thorough. In summary the hotel facilities are fantastic , but overall customer service has changed and we didn’t feel valued as individuals or guests .

An ideally located hotel close to Funchal centre and only 30 minutes from the airport. The hotel is immaculate with beautiful gardens and the staff are very attentive. It has very nice restaurants (I highly recommend the Firepit) with lots of other high quality restaurants close by.
