This was our First time in Madeira and there will definitely be a second. This was a visit for our wedding anniversary. After the traditional go around at the airport due to wind everything went really well with our stay. The hotel was fantastic although much bigger than we would normally stay in, the reception staff and concierge service was informative with information and help with maps and information. The room was great, nice and big and on the tenth floor with great views over the port area. Breakfast was good, the pool food and buffet restaurant was also excellent although if not stopping half board the buffet food was a little expensive, and more expensive than the other restaurant near to the pool. There are so many restaurants on the roads around the hotel that half board is not necessary. We were there for the last firework display in funchal in June which was an added bonus. All in all we had a great stay, the people are all friendly great location and room. Can’t see any negatives to not go back, apart from the airport, will we make it a first time landing next time!

An honest ratio cost/quality! Everything is just super nice! The friendly stuff thanks to Ruben we organized a birthday cake for my husband, the location of the hotel is perfect and is very clean! The pool is lovely and you won’t feel the fact that is a very big hotel!

We would like to mention some exceptional members of staff: - Cecelia who welcomed us into breakfast with a big smile every time. - Jessica at the gelateria who was super helpful and friendly. - Francisco at the Alameda Lounge who made a perfect Margarita and made sure we had a lovely time there. But actually we came across many, many friendly and helpful people working at the hotel. Thank you to everyone. Some highlights of this hotel: - We enjoyed lunches at Alameda by the pool, pretty much perfect for a relaxed lunch. Food and service great. - Room kept spotlessly clean and tidy and all areas of hotel perfectly clean. Plenty of public areas to wander around and explore, it's a pretty spectacular building. - The spa was very good. - Very good service at breakfast and a decent selection. A few small points of improvement: - The rooms have small comfort niggles. Not enough hooks, not enough storage, air con switches off in room when door is opened so sitting on balcony means room gets too warm. We wanted to use Chromecast but it wasn't working. - Service around pool could be improved. Waiting staff work hard and are great but there are not enough of them when the pool is busy. Pool helpers spend a LOT of time at the towel station chatting rather than being around the pool helping people or tidying or whatever. We'll probably stay again because it's a very good hotel in a large part because of the wonderful team.

Savoy Palace Madeira – Stunning Property, Deeply Disappointing Service The Savoy Palace may look like a 5-star resort, but our experience fell far short—especially when a personal item was removed from our room by housekeeping and staff handled it with a disturbing lack of care. Yes, the hotel is visually stunning, and the rooftop views are beautiful. But customer service, bar quality, and room layout were major letdowns. Our “two-bedroom suite” was actually just two adjoining rooms—misleading based on the booking. Poolside, we sat for hours without ever being approached for drink service. And at the rooftop bar, all “signature cocktails” are pre-batched. When I asked to substitute mezcal for tequila, I was told no—because the drink was already made. At €16 per cocktail, that’s unacceptable. The worst part: my daughter’s beloved teddy bear, with her since infancy, vanished after housekeeping changed the bed linens. We immediately reported it and explained it was likely taken with the laundry. Instead of taking swift action, staff questioned whether she’d lost it elsewhere and dismissed our concerns. We were never allowed to speak with housekeeping directly and were given inconsistent and evasive responses. Though the bear was eventually found, it was shipped back to us with no urgency, arriving over 20 days later. The situation was handled with indifference, and the “compensation” offered was something we already had in our booking, a replacement stuffed animal, or sweets. This was not a 5-star experience. The lack of empathy and accountability from staff left us extremely disappointed and overshadowed what should have been a memorable trip.

My son and I have just spent a lovely week at this Hotel! I would be very surprised if this wasn’t THE place to stay in Madeira !! From Check in to check out there wasn’t a time that wasn’t massively enjoyable at this great hotel. We had a beautiful seafacing room which was huge and looked like it had recently been refurbished. The bathroom again was massive. Breakfast was vast and plentiful- for a hotel this huge I was surprised at the level of service from the staff which was exceptional from pool ( lots of sunlougers) to cleaners to reception/restaurants and concierge. The location was perfect easy access to town probably a 10 min walk, lots of nearby restaurants a great food hall behind the hotel. The spa and gym again brilliant - also not forgetting the rooftop pool and restaurant. I honestly can’t think of anything negative to say … maybe more cushions for the sunloungers. Amazing hotel I highly recommend !!!
