The Fortress Resort & Spa

We had a wonderful stay at this beautiful classic-style hotel. From the very beginning, we felt genuinely welcomed and well taken care of. The service throughout the hotel was excellent, and all staff members were incredibly friendly, helpful, and always smiling. A special thank you goes to Thejani and the gentleman from the pool service (Upal, or a similar name), who were exceptionally proactive, attentive, and supportive during our stay. They helped us with everything we needed — even beyond their actual responsibilities — and always gave us great advice and assistance. What truly stood out was how much effort the staff put into making not only our stay, but also the stay of our two children, as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. Their kindness and care made a real difference. Every evening, housekeeping surprised us with a small sweet treat in the room, which was a lovely touch. The breakfast was also very good: a small but nice buffet with pastries, fruits, and various other options, combined with freshly prepared breakfast classics served à la carte. We truly enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend this hotel to others.

This is an amazing place to stay for families or couples. The property is located right by the sea and features a beautiful infinity pool. The rooms are spacious and well maintained, and the hotel staff is extremely friendly and welcoming. The hotel also offers a gym, spa, sauna, and steam room. Tuk Tuks are easily available right outside the property. Overall, the hospitality was excellent, and I would definitely love to stay here again.

Our experience at The Fortress Spa Hotel in Kogalla was wonderful, and it is hard to put into words just how much we enjoyed our stay. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed by the owner, Druzell, and Dilini, whose friendly approach made us feel welcome. As we were celebrating my birthday during our visit, the hotel went above and beyond to create a memorable experience. In our room, we found an arrangement on the bed featuring a birthday display with a delicious birthday cake and balloons. Throughout our time at the hotel, the staff greeted us with their cheerful smiles and attentive service. The views of the ocean from the hotel were breathtaking. We enjoyed lounging by the pool, and the swing provided a perfect spot to unwind while watching the waves. The buffet breakfast had a wide array of both local and international dishes each morning. The quality of the food was outstanding. Five nights at The Fortress Spa Hotel felt far too short; we could have easily stayed much longer and still found new ways to relax and enjoy our surroundings. Without a doubt, we would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Sri Lanka, and we are already looking forward to our next stay.

We were lucky enough to get a last-minute room at The Fortress. From the moment we arrived, to the moment we left we felt so welcome by all the staff. It is an incredible hotel to stay at with a lovely pool. Great service and a wonderful restaurant for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Day spa is good to. Recommend you get an ocean facing room to view the beautiful gardens and the Indian Ocean.
