The Fortress Resort & Spa

This was our first visit to Sri Lanka and we couldn't have chosen a better location. The hotel was fantastic, all the staff were welcoming and friendly, the food was amazing. There wasn't a single thing that we didn't like. From the time we arrived they couldn't do enough for us. When we went out for the day and didn't get back until 2245 they prepared a meal and drinks in our room. The hotel is a two hour drive from the airport, but the beach location is fabulous. While we were there the sea was too rough to swim in but we were told in other months (such as February), it is calm, but it can be very hot then. It was a comfortable 27-30 degrees while we were there but very humid. The rooms have air conditioning and ceiling fans. we loved it so much we hope to return next year. So many lovely staff, but special mentions to Charmindi, Weerasinghe, Samantha, Amal.....too many to name them all.

Great hotel, lovely and quiet with the lovely beach to chill out on and listen to the ocean. Ideal for exploring the nearby town of Galle. We used one of the tuk tuks across from the entrance to go to town.

We were very welcoming. The staff very helpful and smart, got to taste different cuisine, very clean and the wedding was very well organized. I recommend this hotel to anyone who like to visit Galle and give it a 5 star rating.

We have just returned from another great two weeks staying at The Fortress,Sri Lanka. There have been a few changes since we were there last in 2023. The restaurant area has been refurbished and there are now a Tepanyaki cooking area and an Italian and Japanese restaurant. The main restaurant is still in Samantha’s capable hands and he still has Saman and many of the staff that were there before assisting. The food is as delicious as it was two years ago thanks to the Exec chef and all his staff. Thank you all!! Our room was upgraded upon arrival which was very much appreciated.Nalin and Namal kept the room well stocked and immaculate. The pool guys looked after all our needs around the pool area and the sun beds were very comfortable. The chief engineer was busy setting up some new outdoor lighting to show off the trees and surf. Excellent! It was great chatting with the front desk and reception team again and discussing our“haute couture “ each evening from Chez Preston.🤣. We highly recommend this hotel and staying on an AI basis works for us as we love our food and enjoy a drink. Thanks again to everyone, sorry that I can’t remember everyone’s name but you all made our holiday truly memorable. Hope to see everyone again soon 🙏

All I can say about the was that the place was amazing. From the minute we arrived we were made welcome by the staff from reception, who due to the high wind blowing through reception took us straight to our room. The restaurant staff and the domestic staff all made us feel special they could not do enough for us. I wish all resorts were as good as this. Sam the restaurant manager knew of our dietary requirements and supervised every thing, knowing that Sam was taking care of our dietary needs meant that we could relax. My must say again that this is one of the friendliest and best hotels we have stayed in, one day we will return.
