About the Hotel

The g Hotelâ€(TM)s mix of old Hollywood glamour and elements that evoke the coastal region of Galway, Ireland create a beautifully unique design experience. With renowned hat-designer Philip Treacy, a native of Galway, at the helm, each room takes on itâ€(TM)s own special personaility; from the black glass walled main entrance that features a tank filled with Connemara-bred seahorses, to the hot pink Pink Lounge, with chairs covered in bright Andy Warhol fabric and a hand loomed vortex rug, to the luxurious linens and finishes that grace each finely appointed room. The hotel is home to Riva g, a first class resturant featuring international cusines, and a ESPA, a spa that promises to erase the stress of travel. At every turn there is something distinctive to catch your eye, and a staff ready to provide impreccable service with a warm smile.

Just back from an amazing weekend at the G. We could not fault a thing. The staff were excellent, especially Lucia, the Guest Experience Manager. This lady really went above and beyond. We really appreciate it Lucia, thank you so much. Our room was gorgeous and the bed extremely comfortable. The Spa is a must the thermal suite is so relaxing and the full body massage was a little piece of heaven. Even to just sit in the lounge and have a bite to eat while soaking in the view was just fab. It really was the best weekend. Thank you Lucia and team. We will definitely be back.

Definite combination of pro's and con's, but we would recommend staying just for the breakfast alone. On the plus side: spacious, well-appointed bathroom, comfortable beds, easy elevator use because it's only 2 floors tall, and the biggest plus being the restaurant in the hotel (more on that later). But the downsides were significant: underground parking that's shared with a strip mall and the associated traffic of trying to get in and out of the place; long walks from the elevator to the room; and a staff that was not up to "luxury hotel" level--they put us in a room right next to their interior renovations--there was so much dust we had to take extra allergy medicine. And the noise started at 8:45 every morning. If you aren't driving, it's not an easy walk to anywhere from their location either (except the local rugby pitch). But the restaurant just might make it worth it. We had breakfast included in our package, and this was no buffet. This was an interesting brunch menu mix with everything from salmon to porridge to charcuterie, and you could order as much as you like. The brown bread with butter alone was to die for. Definitely fueled our day--we never ate lunch during our stay here.

Not five, but a solid 4

I stayed here in 2013 and loved the experience. For the most part nothing has changed. It looked the same, but somehow felt different. It’s hard to capture what was different but it didn’t feel as special as the first time, some 12 years ago. There is nothing to fault, everything was very good from the service at reception and bars to the room and lounge(s) quality. Location wise it is not the hotel to use if you want to be in the centre of town, it is a solid 25 minute walk. I recommend the hotel, it’s a great experience.

Amazing Break Away

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

Stayed here with my partner on short break away. We were very impressed with the hotel and staff were excellent, especially the concierge, he gave us great recommendations on where to eat in Salthill. The bed was the comfiest we had ever slept in and had a lovely congratulations card and treats in the room as my partner is expecting in December. It was a lovely touch and one that was much appreciated. Overall it was a great stay made even better by the excellent staff that were always so friendly. Liam
