About the Hotel

The g Hotelâ€(TM)s mix of old Hollywood glamour and elements that evoke the coastal region of Galway, Ireland create a beautifully unique design experience. With renowned hat-designer Philip Treacy, a native of Galway, at the helm, each room takes on itâ€(TM)s own special personaility; from the black glass walled main entrance that features a tank filled with Connemara-bred seahorses, to the hot pink Pink Lounge, with chairs covered in bright Andy Warhol fabric and a hand loomed vortex rug, to the luxurious linens and finishes that grace each finely appointed room. The hotel is home to Riva g, a first class resturant featuring international cusines, and a ESPA, a spa that promises to erase the stress of travel. At every turn there is something distinctive to catch your eye, and a staff ready to provide impreccable service with a warm smile.

Lovely Hotel, breakfast disappointing

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 days ago

Recent return visit to this lovely Hotel in a fine location. Check in was seamless with the very efficient front of house gentlemen who asked us to try out the Christmas welcome drink and give him our views which I am happy to say he took on board. A good start. The bedroom was as before top class and comfortable with everything you would expect in a 5 star. We went into the Bar and there was an abusive man refusing to leave for a member of staff, as there were no other customers in the bar at the time, this was a bit upsetting for my wife. However as he was escorted out the young barman apologised and gave us drink on the house to try and make up for the situation, well done. The lounges and Cocktail Bar which had been closed for upgrade on our last visit, have been beautifully done up. All going so well until breakfast. The wonderful 5 star service is no more and breakfast service and offering is now only average, what a pity. Will we return again, I'm not sure.

A wonderful hotel

This is a wonderful hotel that rates highly in every category. The decor is stylish and welcoming with a lovely bar and two beautiful lounges - one for quiet reading and reflection and where you can work. The restaurant is lovely with fantastic food at reasonable prices. Try the tasting menu - delicious The hotel has ample underground parking and several bus routes pass the front door. It's an 8 minute bus ride to Eyre Square. The real stars of the show are the staff. Friendly, efficient, knowlegeable and gracious. Absolutely top class

Nice hotel for a few days in Galway

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

Nice hotel, staff we encountered were friendly and welcoming. Very comfortable bed! Cocktails were very good and not premixed which is been served so many places now. Spa was disappointing, very small with very little amenities, broken seats and paint falling of the ceiling onto you in either the steam or sauna, they had forgot to turn on the hot water urn in the relaxation room so when I made a herbal tea it was stone cold. I would stay again but wouldn't bother with the spa.

The G is Galway

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

An unexpected 2 nite stay at the G hotel was probably our best ever experience in our many visits to Galway. A pre booking at another establishment just wasn't for us. However on spec we met with the most helpful receptionist we have encountered over many years of travel both in Ireland and abroad. Lucia gave us a very reasonable rate for a 2 nite stay with a most enjoyable breakfast included. To seal the deal my wife did also request a view of the lake Atilia which was to front of hotel. Our room on the 1st floor had the full view of the said lake & with a sitting area, a super king size bed, bath/walkin shower, 50" TV, it was ideal for our requirements. A visit to the thermal suite in the spa was again excellent. We had dinner on one evening & room service the second & again both proved to be above what we expected. All members of staff were both courteous & helpful, & I do really think other hotels could maybe do a take on what service really is.....the G is the place to feel both welcome & valued. 10 out of 10 is easily achieved by the G. I do again have to complement Lucia as we did meet on a few occasions over our 2 day stay she did enquire as to how we were & what we had planned for our day etc. Lucia is an absolute asset to the G. Our nx trip to Galway is already certain we will stay at the G.
