Grootbos Private Nature Reserve

We stayed at Grootbos for two nights as a family of four and from the moment we arrived we were absolutely blown away. The setting is breathtaking, with incredible views, and the rooms are beautiful, spacious and very comfortable The service throughout our stay was exceptional: every member of staff was warm, attentive and genuinely caring. The food was outstanding at every meal, with plenty of choice and thoughtful touches for the children too The activities were a real highlight for us, We loved the 4x4 drives and horse riding, which were both exciting and very family friendly. Our guide Jono was fantastic and made every experience so much fun for both us and the kids, while also sharing lots of interesting information about the nature and surroundings Grootbos is a very special place and we would highly recommend it to any family looking for a luxurious, memorable and truly unique stay.

We had the most incredible stay at Grootbos and truly wished we could have stayed longer. From the moment we arrived, the staff were absolutely amazing and so friendly; nothing was ever too much trouble. In particular, Stephen was outstanding and went above and beyond to make our stay so special. He helped us fit as many activities as possible into our short visit and took us on a tour of the Klipgat Cave, as well as a beautiful coastal drive to watch the sunset with sparkling wine which was such a nice touch. He made sure we were well looked after throughout and is incredibly knowledgeable about the area’s history. We were fascinated by everything he shared about the caves and the wildlife. One of the things that makes Grootbos so special is its commitment to sustainability and conservation. Learning more about this was so interesting, and it was inspiring to see the positive impact they are making in the area. We also went horse riding and thoroughly enjoyed it. The horses were incredible and so well behaved, and it was a lovely touch to be able to feed them at the end. Nicci was brilliant and so friendly and welcoming. We stayed in a family lodge, which was spacious, comfortable, and beautifully designed, with breathtaking views of the sea and sunset. The food in the restaurant was excellent, and we were very well fed throughout our stay. They also cater exceptionally well for vegetarians and vegans. I would highly recommend the fat biking on the dunes as well,such a fun family activity that we all really enjoyed. We will be back!

You will be thrilled by the panoramic coastal and mountain views, which are truly breathtaking. You will also have the opportunity to immerse yourself in landscapes brimming with lush flora. Exquisite cuisine and spectacular sunsets await you, and you will receive the utmost care and attention throughout your stay. Every turn will amaze and delight you. This is one of my children's favourite places. They, and we, give it 10 stars! You will be captivated by this place and will always want to come back.
