Reviews for Coquillade Village

Beautiful setting – not as tranquil as the photos suggest.

This was our first visit to the hotel, intended to close off a lovely holiday in the South of France. We reserved the Pool Suite for three nights, selecting this specific room with the expectation that there would be absolute tranquillity. We left one night early. Most of the feedback noted below has already been shared with the management who have thoughtfully responded. Location The property is beautifully located on a high promontory, in grounds which make you feel like you are part of a secluded village community. Most of the property is in excellent condition and gives the impression of a very relaxing local village. The website presents an array of different rooms, the latest being the Luberon Suites. We visited some of these suites on the off chance that should we visit again these would be the type of standard we would be interested in. The Pool Suite The external photographs of the Pool Suite are quite justified. There are many layers of privacy and external comfort, and the Pool Suite and the property it forms part of is situated a few minutes’ walk from the main building. However, as can be seen from the photograph, there is a suite next door (Sunset Suite) and what is not clear is that there are two other rooms which form part of the building. The building is one of the oldest in the hotel and unfortunately the design is such that you can hear quite clearly the noise from your neighbours, firstly in the gardens and, secondly, the walls are very thin. We checked out early because we could not sleep on the second night, and the first night was also challenging due to noise in the gardens. When we checked out, the management team were not at all surprised. Luberon Suites Also noteworthy, if you are looking for tranquillity, the Luberon Suites are on the lower level and there are rooms above the Luberon Suites. They are not separated, and this means that if you have someone sitting on a balcony talking late at night or early in the morning, you will not have tranquillity or privacy. For the price of these suites, this is something you absolutely need to be aware of. Spa The Spa is modern, extensive and highlighted as a flagship of the property. It is certainly of a high standard but due to the different facilities available, it seems to have built up a “weekend reputation” for romantic couples. We suspect that this property and the Spa in general has a challenge striking the right balance between quiet tranquillity and those people who enjoy the romantic nature of the hotel itself. The Spa therefore felt more like a naughty venue for young couples to meet than a relaxing area. A pity, as it is of a very high standard. Restaurants The Michelin restaurant had closed the season before and, at the time we visited, there was no real news when the next restaurant would be established. This is a great tragedy for a remote property of this standard, as one acceptable restaurant is not enough for a property of this price category. Main Restaurant The outdoor seating area and environ for the main restaurant, which is adjacent to the breakfast area, was very beautiful and a perfect setting for dinner or lunch. The team were attentive, the food of a good standard, and a very pleasant place to have a dinner. Breakfast The breakfast buffet has had comments that it is well supplied with a good range of choices. This is true, but the quality is not of an exceptional standard given that this is a five star de luxe hotel. Also, it is fair to say, the team were probably the weakest of all of the team members that we met, more interested in talking amongst themselves than supporting their guests. One challenge this hotel will have is that the breakfast venue is very dark if you have to be inside and really needs some money spending to modernise and refresh. Teams We found the team to be warm, welcoming and professional. The concierge were particularly capable, as were the front desk team and the Spa. The hotel stays open for most of the season and, as a result, has a good standard compared to hotels which are only seasonal. Summary We shared the information about the noise with the management team and why we had to check out early. They kindly offered a benefit upon a subsequent return, but unfortunately we shall not be returning. The noise from the room removed any pleasure from what should have been a relaxing holiday, and unfortunately none of the other rooms in the property would also be relaxing, despite the photographs, because of their proximity to other rooms. The Pool Suite needs a significant renovation and the walls thickening. For the price charged, it was not of a high standard. Other small points, but important in the price category of this property, was the fact there was no water provided for the evening turndown service, and despite the room being available for the turndown from 6pm, no turndown took place until 9pm. Tiny issues but important if you are paying a large sum for a suite. However, if you are looking for a one-two night stay to pass through prior to moving to another destination, this would be an excellent venue if you do not mind the risk of noise. The team were warm and capable and the atmosphere very enjoyable. We hope the management team can upgrade the Pool Suite so that future guests can enjoy the room in a better way.

A wonderfully. Unique hotel.

A second time visitor to this hotel. The views are incredible and being set in the vineyard to be able to go for walks is a treat. The spa is very large, as is the gym, and the pools, which given the relative small number of guests means no where is crowded. we did miss the Avalon restaurant this time and although the cypressa was open Friday and Saturday choice of food for dinner is somewhat limited. The rooms are very nice and well cared for.

Core memories unlocked! What a special place!

Simply magic! I am so happy we booked here! It made a perfect home base for exploring Provence. The property is divine, and the staff are fantastic. One of my favourite memories in the South of France is waking up just as the sun was rising and going for walks through the vineyards and rose gardens. Sunsets on our rooftop terrace were pretty spectacular also, as were the lavender cocktails served by the pool. My only wish was that we scheduled a day where we didn't leave the hotel and just soaked it all in. Hopefully there is a "next time"!

A fantastic property set in one of the most beautiful vineyards in the world

So many things are so right when it comes to this beautiful property. The only thing that surpasses the extraordinary vibe, feel, rooms, and the facilities are the wonderful professionals who work there. They make you stay most unbelievably pleasant and fun experiences. Everything thought of. Everything’s well done just magical.
