Hotel Metropole Geneve is an icon of Swiss hospitality, presiding over the left bank of the famous Rue du Rhone since 1854. With unbeatable views over Lake Geneva, the Jet d’Eau and the English Garden with its famous Flower Clock, there is simply no better choice when visiting Geneva. While the building's historic facade has been carefully maintained, a full interior renovation made this one of Geneva's best boutique hotels. Neutral color palettes and modern design are found in all guest rooms, while suites take modern opulence to another level with Bang+Olufsen stereos, walk-in closets, and even separate dining rooms making appearances.

I visited the MET Rooftop mainly because of its beautiful view over Geneva, which is impressive. Unfortunately, the overall experience was disappointing, especially considering the prices. When I arrived, the host initially tried to seat me at a table tucked away from the main view, even though there were free tables closer to the panoramic view. I specifically asked to sit at one of those tables, which was eventually fine. I ordered the ceviche and the mini burgers, along with a glass of wine. The ceviche came with a rather unusual combination including guacamole, which I personally didn't find particularly convincing. The bigger issue was the mini burgers. They are advertised with raclette cheese, but the cheese on my burgers was not melted at all. It was essentially a chunk of cheese sitting with the meat, which was quite different from what I expected from the dish and from how it is presented. No other flavors: bread, chunk of cheese, meat, bread, basta! Even more disappointing, both dishes were brought at the same time. By the time I had finished the ceviche, the mini burgers were cold, and the cheese was obviously still not melted. For two dishes and one glass of wine, I paid over CHF 75, so I expected considerably better food and service. The view is definitely worth seeing. However, based on my experience, I would recommend coming here for a drink and the view rather than coming specifically for dinner. The location and atmosphere have a lot of potential, but the food and service need to be much better!

Great location but, given the price, the service was not up to par, sadly. Took ages to get room cleaned by housekeeping, laundry arrived back a bit late, documents sent to front desk not handed over in timely fashion. Our room was tiny and didn’t have a view but am sure that’s a question of cost. Next time I’d rather have a bigger room in a more affordable hotel.

From check-in to check-out we had a very pleasant stay! We requested last minute for a change in the bed arrangements and it was followed up with such efficiency. The front desk and the whole staff at the hotel were super kind , helpful, and attentive. We asked for restaurant recommendations which were delicious! Rooms were clean and well arranged. We could have not asked for a better stay! If we ever go to Geneva again we will definitely be staying there again!
